July 9, 201114 yr In some cases, it's actually better. Most airliners can't fly LPV approaches, don't have XM satellite weather and don't have synthetic vision. The G1000 (Or Perspective, if you're a Cirrus person) is currently the avionics package. Joe Sherrill

July 9, 201114 yr So are you guys saying the G1000 is harder to make than an FMC? I think PMDG should make one and sell it apart :( Sagga Toure
July 10, 201114 yr Anyone who thinks we couldn't program a realistic G1000 doesn't know us very well lol.. You know the person who developed the Mustang's version of it (probably the best one done in a consumer-level addon thusfar) works here now right? With the help of the rest of the team here we could definitely do a new one pretty darn close to the full functionality of the real thing. Really the only things missing were VNAV, the on-map cursor control stuff, and the TAWS mode if I recall correctly...As to the original question - if you have a serious inquiry (meaning you actually have a ton of money to spend upfront on such a venture), email us privately - we wouldn't ever post a price for something like that in the forum. It would have to be a VERY good offer for us to put the current roadmap we have on hold though, I know that much haha.Jim Rohdes works for PMDG! AWESOME! And yes, the only things missing on his is the VNAV and airway functionality (both complicated on such avionics). But if you want to make a GA aircraft with the G1000 I would very, very joyed. No.By "His" you must be talking about Matt Kaprocki, since he's the one who wrote it. :( You mention missing functionality and seem to be okay with it, but this is what differentiates PMDG from other developers: We dig into stuff like VNAV and Airway functionality. It is what makes the process fun- and it is these kinds of things that make a product truly complete. In our opinion you should be able to pull out the aircraft manual and follow along through darn near everything. We don't like having to say, "oh...well...you won't really use that."The further we get down the road, the fewer times you run into something in the manual that you can't play with on the airplane.THAT is how it is supposed to be. It seems as if you read my post the wrong way. I just assumed it was Jim because he is the face of the company, my mistake. And I totally agree with you! I've stated many times in the Mustang forum that VNAV and airways are a crucial point in such detailed avionics; a few devs disagree with me. So yes, I totally agree with you and am very sad that that product doesn't model such features. RubenEdit: Robert, I'm posted many times asking for such functionality so for whatever reason you think I think that it's okay without such functions, think again. ;) Ruben Schuckit i5 2500k 4.5GHz GTX 560 Ti 8GB memory

July 10, 201114 yr Yes. July 10, 201114 yr I would think the opportunity cost involved here for PMDG would make the cost of such a venture unfeasible for nearly, if not all of everyone here. You would essentially be compensating PMDG for revenue that they would be making if they weren't working on a one off project for one person and I have a feeling that would be a substantial sum of money.-johnny rodgers
