August 3, 201114 yr I don't think that have been sold so many PIRATE copies...Unless in Brazil where we live... Let's forget it hahaAnd I don't think too that 80% of the FSX owners (pirate or not) are just PLAYING in fs...And some of my friends have the pirate FSX BUT they buy addons...In fact I'm the only brazilian person I know that have bought the FSX (believe in me haha) ''Pena que n pode postar em portugues KK'' Luiz Cunha Hi Cunha, I bought my FSX in USA when it was released. August 3, 201114 yr I think you have better changes to get some secret informations from the cia then sales numbers for fsx from ms ...but didnt they shut down the developer team because of disappointed sales ?Microsoft shut down the team that worked on the old FSX engine, which they sold to Lockheed (see "Prepar3D"). It didn't have to do with poor sales. It's just that starting all over from scratch developing MS Flight. It's been two years of flight simming. Almost nothing, isn't it? Matheus Mafra
August 3, 201114 yr A flight - no, but a nice set of manuals, why not?...And apply this for customer 100,000 too. On the other hand if the sales hit a 1M mark, considering something more serious would be appropriate ;) I once heard from another source that the total number of simmers buying addons is somewhere between 30-40,000 Worldwide! If that is accurate, then PMDG is probably hoping for sales in the 20-30,000 range over the life of the product. Multiply that by $70+ and they're making good money, but not enough to retire on. I wish them the best, as they've truly set the standard for airliners. Based on what's happening politically, I just hope they have some money left after taxes. Curt Branch
August 3, 201114 yr I think I had some suggestions in a different thread long these lines and no one liked them. Maybe PMDG should sell order slots like actual jet makers. Then people could sell their slots to those who want to be closer to the front. Semi-related, I have Eclipse Jet slot #872 if someone wants to buy it off me. August 3, 201114 yr 70.00 x 30,000 is 2.1million. Not a bad screw Id say. :) I certainly don't think it would of cost anywhere near that to develop. I would say half a million MAX in development costs the past 3 years. Whats the average salary over in USA? 60K? Not all the developers do this full time. I dont think they have a PMDG HQ as such so no real leasing costs.(I could be wrong. Perhaps they do have an HQ.) What they paid to boeing for specs... if anything at all. Boeing seem to be quite a patriotic company so perhaps they didnt mind an american company using their specs. If PMDG was french....well then that would be a different story. Cameron Lett

Here it is R$160,00 or U$100,00 more or less (in Brazil) Luiz cunha
August 3, 201114 yr Ryan......With regard to your buying drinks for everyone, considering the heat in Phoenix these days, (remember my Aunt lives there), I think if anyone called you on that it would have to be in January.Better that you should send vouchers to all who buy the NGX. No matter what country! I know you (or Robert) are good for it. Otherwise, we're all heading up to Reno. Jack Fentress

Because of your post about our countrymen and piracy I have the comment here how I disagree with you. Unfortunately piracy runs all over the world and our country is not so different from any other. Anyway, I'm an old simmer (since 3.0) and I have always bought all softwares I run - both at office and at home - including FSX and all add-ons. And the same way I do, the great majority of my friends do the same. So, please, do not blame our country with some sort of personal statistics as my feeling is the opposite from yours. Maybe it has to do with the kind of friends I choose. Kind regardse queira-me bem. August 4, 201114 yr [On topic]If the company could afford a "good will" gesture like some manuals, I think that's really nice. I'm guessing that amongst the 70,000 worldwide purchasers of FSX addons, PMDG might be getting 1/6th of that in sales. I think if FSX addons were making a company 2.1 million there would be a lot more of them! [Off Topic]I try not to be a fanatic about any particular company as I know they are doing it for the profit (duh!). I will say I hope all of PMDG's products are highly successful as they are making what I want and I'd like them to KEEP doing it! Finally, IMO, PMDG is a likable company with likable people so I have no problem offering up some "consumer loyalty" and recommending to others. "I am the Master of the Fist!" -Akuma
