August 9, 201114 yr I don't know what it is, maybe because of ORBX scenery, but when I fly into PDX I always get a ton of "Pull ups" and "Terrain" warnings. Then I see a massive block of Red on the screen but outside I'm still a good 3,000 feet above anything. Then it will continue doing this throughout the approach. Maybe it is just my set up but it is kinda sad because Portland is my home and I love flying into there. Anyone else confirm these problems for me? I'm using the PNW scenery by ORBX. I will try to get screens later as right now I am flying to San Jose. :) Ryan Vanderbrook
August 9, 201114 yr You know what this happened to me too at KPDX. It just totally freaked out on red terrain warnings. I converted my old FZ02 to work in FSX. The only thing I did was set minimums to RADIO 200, which after reading later I found is a bug of sorts because you change from BARO to RADIO 9000 and have to dial it right down. So I thought the plane was confused and thought it was flying itself into the ground. I'll have to try it again and not touch the Minimums and see if it's just a bizarre KPDX thing. Edit ** Yes I was into 28R at the time also. 3-5nm sounds about right. August 9, 201114 yr Commercial Member I can confirm the same issue in KSEA, default, with Ultimate Terrain X USA. Collin Biedenkapp Chief Executive Officer TFDi Design (Invernyx) | Website
August 9, 201114 yr Author Cool, there's one person to confirm. Maybe it's just a tiny bug in PMDG's database or something? It's possible it could be pilot error because I'm pretty new to this aircraft and am still learning. It seems the blocks of fake high terrain were off the end of 28L and R and 3-5 miles Southeast of the airport. Ryan Vanderbrook
August 9, 201114 yr I can confirm the same issue in KSEA, default, with Ultimate Terrain X USA. Same here ....coming into the 16's I get this ...must be the scenery addon doing this Mike Brown
August 9, 201114 yr Even more interesting, got a terrain/pull up cue with a large red block on the ND while on decent into Kona Hawaii last night. Nothing but open ocean in front of me! Ryan Syferd (KSEA)
August 9, 201114 yr Author Hmm... more places. Hopefully they're just tiny glitches, or better hopefully it's all pilot error and we just need to fix something! Ryan Vanderbrook
August 9, 201114 yr Most modern scenery design techniques use invisible scenery objects in order for certain things to be shown in the sim. Maybe just a theory but the NGX might be affected by these. August 9, 201114 yr The NGX *shouldn't* be affected by invisible scenery objects because it uses a database for the EGPWS. Sounds like a glitch in the database. Joe Sherrill
August 9, 201114 yr I've just experienced the same *glitch* while flying into Nice 'Côte d'Azur'; EGPWS terrain warnings while flying over the sea... Very strange. Oh btw I'm totally new to this aircraft so it could easily be pilot error ''It's not about the destination, It's about the Journey'' Greetings, Maxim Ramsteijn
August 9, 201114 yr I can confirm this happens on approach and departure into KSEA. Hopefully PMDG sees this thread and adds it to the list.
August 9, 201114 yr same issue happnes at ENVA (aerosoft scenery) Tarik Tarik Dosdogru I5 750, ovrclck 3.2,16gb ram,geforce gtx 560 ti,win 7 64 bit,saitek x52 pro,addons: ASE,REX,many scenerys
August 9, 201114 yr Commercial Member Can you guys repeatedly get these errors? We saw something like this randomly early in testing of the EGPWS but I could never reproduce it. Please give us as much info as you can. Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
August 9, 201114 yr I got this coming into LFMN twice today, samething keeps happening, I have Aerosoft LFMN V1 installed. Pics attached. I was like 4000' above the middle of the sea and kept getting pull up and caution terrain warnings. Pics are attached. I also had a thing around LEIB that I posted in a topic yesterday, I dunno if you saw that Ryan. Basically the Island of Ibiza was totally covered by water on the EGPWS. I don't know if it's related but here's a pic... Rónán O Cadhain.
August 9, 201114 yr There is something wrong with the Tx database I think. I was flying into Chicago on the Watson arrival, and I turned on the terrain radar so that I can tell when I crossed the shore line over lake Michigan, since i have it set up to dispaly water in Cyan. Instead, I get readings as if I am flying over terrain, with little hills. On my next flight I will see if I can figure if there is more inconsistancy and take some pics.
