November 13, 201114 yr Commercial Member I just flew this and from RTT went flaps to 5. As it is a calm night, I had little difficulty getting her in, but needed drag most of the way. Therefore, I suspect real-life procedure would require more flaps instead of speed brake, so KLM's approach is obviously the way to go. November 13, 201114 yr I use full landing config. at RTT, and during app.Try to land at LSGS, its more challenging than LOWI. :)Lj. ProdanovicI full agree... November 13, 201114 yr Thanx for the APP chart! wow 6* now I have to test my piloting skills:)) Kind regardsR.G
November 13, 201114 yr Does anybody have experience (either real or significant sim experience) flying the LLZ DME East approach into LOWI with a circle to land on RWY08? I love this approach/landing, especially on larger aircraft, as it is a great hand flying opportunity. My question is, what configuration/profile are people using to fly this one gracefully? Personally, I:1) depart RTT at 180 kts, flaps 5 and bug speed2) Flaps 10 between intercepting the localizer and 18.6nm OEV (realizing that it's hard to decelerate once you begin the ~5 deg descent to the MDA).3) Flaps 15/gear down at 6.3 OEV as I'm turning left to 230 to setup on the right downwind (AP off at this point)4) Full flaps no later than abeam RWY26 thresholdNormally, I wouldn't be inclined to fly at flaps 5/below 180 kts 26 nm from the field, especially when doing a circle to land. But, if I configure for landing any later, I inevitably find myself high and fast as I'm turning final.I doubt it's done this way in real life. Does anybody know the standard profile?TrevorLook at my KLM763 Boeing 767 flight from EDDS to LOWI on Youtube in 1080P (4 parts) with all the bells & whizzles as FS2Crew voice and Vatsim ATC including the Eastern Approach for RW08 Circle to Land and based on the real procedures.I have also posted a short one with the PMDG 737-800 NGX in Transavia livery with the Western LOC/DME Approach for RW08 and is more challenging then the Eastern. All the real life procedures are included.Transavia 737-800 Western Approach for RW08: http://www.youtube.c...e&v=I6zQ2UgIPYgKLM763 Eastern Approach for RW08 Full Movie in 4 parts: www.youtube.com/results?search_type=search_playlists&search_query=klm763&uni=1Enjoy the flights and set your YouTube Playwindow on 1080p / Full screen and sound on !!!PS: in real life with a 737-700 to 900 you start the descent from RTT with +/- 160 Kts, Flaps 15 and Gear Down, After joining downwind RW08 back to 145 Kts and flaps 25, on final 135 Kts and Flaps 30
November 16, 201114 yr I full agree... IGS RWY 25 procedure ;-) 6.00° or descent gradient 10.5%Regards,Richard PortierDidn't work for me, couldn't see or catch any loc/gs at DME21 ISI....the needles eventually came in much closer to the airport but it was't any 6deg g/s...is it something wrong with the default scenery and AFCAD? Kind regardsR.G
November 21, 201114 yr I full agree... IGS RWY 25 procedure ;-) 6.00° or descent gradient 10.5%Regards,Richard Portiertry to follow ils at lugano, 7.00° or around there. and short runway for a jet!
November 21, 201114 yr Commercial Member I recently flew in and out of lugano in the 800NGX. At full weight, it is impossible to takeoff using the default scenery as you cannot manage to overcome the obstacle at the end of the runway, which looks like someone's house. Even a packs off takeoff doesn't help enough to get off the ground in time. I used flaps 5, but I didn't try 10 or 15. I have yet to read up on short field departures for this aircraft, so I'm being a little &@($*-backwards here, but does anyone have any quick and dirty tips for short field takeoff other than the obvious, such as removing weight. I don't know if it's correct process but I fly with the loc/vor in AutoPilot then V/S at +-1700ft/minute at speed +-140knt. Just before descent>>> full flaps and gear down. November 21, 201114 yr ;) One of my first videos.Very smooth landing! But also you are a pro, so it dosen´t count. No, this was really good. Thanks a lot for sharing, I will try this. / Leffe Leif A Mikkelsen **********************
November 21, 201114 yr ;) One of my first videos.Just a view tips to make it 100% correct as in the real world,Breaking off to the left at AB fly heading of 229 and turn to downwind heading 264 as you can see on the approach charts.Your downwind is to much to the left side mountain, not allowed in real world and avoided with heading 264You are using Innsbruck approach from Aerosoft so you have 2 visual references as used in real world, the small lake at your left side or the first glimp of the Europabrucke.Full flaps on downwind is giving to much drag versus engine noise for the environment (umweltschutz) and not allowed by Government, Flaps 25 with 145-150 KTS is fineBe sure to clean up 800ft between Base leg (western part of Axams) and turning Final to get straight on the PAPI lights (Final at 2900 ft do the job) Final speed +/- 135 KTS (Depent on PAX) Flaps 30 Autobrake 2You landed the bird but in real operation it results in a Aircraft Carrier Deck Landing and TUI will not be pleased with the gear structural damage. So a few small exercices and you are ready for the next challenge, The Western Approach via Kempten - Elmem - KTI and down to 4500ft for the right hand turn overhead AB for joining downwind RW08.If you want visual references, watch my 2 video's KLM763 (Eastern Approach) and Transavia763 (Western Approach) for RW08 Circle to land as mentioned a few clicks above in these topic...Happy landings...
November 21, 201114 yr Commercial Member Thanks for sharing, this thread is teaching me a lot about the NGX, which in turn makes flying it so much more fun! Not sure that the 737 is allowed to Lugano today (may be I'm wrong)... But according to http://en.wikipedia..../Lugano_Airport it seems the runway will be extended during 2012 then 2013Regards,Richard PortierYes, we had a tour called tough BLUF, where we flew around Europe on some of the toughest approach and departures. Not every airport was allowed for the 737 in real-world operations, but I tested every approach, landing and takeoff myself at MTOW and every one except for Lugano worked fine. This was our routing if anyone is interested in flying them (you'll learn a lot and be challenged):Leg: 1 - UV9021 - ENTC to EKVGLeg: 2 - UV9022 - EKVG to EGLCLeg: 3 - UV9023 - EGLC to LXGBLeg: 4 - UV9024 - LXGB to LSZALeg: 5 - UV9025 - LSZA to LGSMLeg: 6 - UV9026 - LGSM to LOWILeg: 7 - UV9027 - LOWI to ENTC Owner, Fulcrum Simulator Controls. fulcrumsim.com facebook.com/fulcrumsimulatorcontrols instagram.com/fulcrumsimulatorcontrols twitter.com/Fulcrum_SC
