does that mean I have now everytime use shade.exe to start or only once ...?
Yes, everytime but...
Non-Auto-Launching Shade I understand that it is not practical for everyone to use the FSX auto-launching versions of SHADE due to otherprograms wanting to auto launch FSX for you (such as the java fps limiter)These users will find the Shade _NL.exe (in the shade root folder) handy as this is a non-auto launching version of the This NL version will load Shade on a 30 second timeout allowing users to start other FSX auto launching apps such asthe FSP limiter during the timeout period, Once Shade_NL. exe is started Shade will inject itself into FSX thenmonitor the system for 30 seconds waiting the main FSX.exe process to start, If FSX hasn’t been started within 30seconds Shade will unload itself and exit, Due to the way shade works with FSX it is not possible to use shade in abatch file command, you will have to launch Shade_NL.exe manually before starting any other FSX auto -launchingapps.

I'm using it, but only by loading and trying the numerous presets, not making my own changes to palettes etc. I have to say I love it, the colours are more vivid, the light and shadows are pleasant, and perhaps before long I'll try tweaking the light, shadow and fog RGB values myself. In the mean time there are a lot of beta-tester and developer's presets to try. Great value for money if you like to spice up the appearance of FSX. It comes with a good user-manual, and well designed interfaces. You can run it with your FPS Limiter and ENB series. The developer says he has included a enbseries ini in the download, but I didn't get one. The download only included the program .exe. Good buy.

You will find it in \Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Shade\Goodies wink.png And I agree : Good buy ! Now that I've tried it, I wouldn't fly without it (and I've only tried the default setting ohmy.png )

I just purchased the software. I did not have the time to try it out yet but here is the UI.
Holy smokes, there's a lot of adjustments you can make. Kind of remides me of the EZdok UI, lol. It certainly does look compelling and looks like you could really tweak the colors a get a great effect. Just when I though I had my ENB and sky set just the way I want this comes out. The only thing is I am not sure I want to spend more time tweaking since this will kind of overide the way I have my ENB set, but it does look like it offers a lot more. Now I just wish I didnt have so much installed in FSX so it could boot quicker for me to test changes.
I apologize for the miscommunication. When I say Reboot, I was referring to Rebooting your computer, not FSX. I haven't played around with shade too much, but it looks like you must close and restart FSX in order for changes to be made. -Damien
No problem Damien. Yeah, I was refering to rebooting FSX not the computer. If I had to actually reboot the computer there is no way I would buy it. Rebooting FSx while its a pain due to the loading time with all my addons its not really that big of a deal. Plus for $11 its not a big investment. The fact that it comes with a palette editor is worth it in itself.

Here are 2 screenshots taken late in the afternoon : one with my usual mix of textures ( REX & FEX) and another adding Shade with default settings. Both are without ENBseries.
I was looking at both images and thinking to myself this looks alot like what ENB does. Then I looked at the aircraft colors, and the red/burgandy from the fsx stock image had really changed on the shade version.Very interesting what this program does. Bob

Bear in mind this app is at it's best when the sun is lower in the sky, and your up in the air. The better the mesh, the better the effect will be, so products like Orbx with Holgers wonderful mesh and Horizon simulations with it 5m mesh, look really stunning. Here is a link to some pics I posted at nVnews showing it with Orbx PNW. http://www.nvnews.ne...&postcount=3524

Great screen shots Mark. I had see a bunch you had posted over there about a month ago leading up to this. Needless to say you really captured some great shots that show the product of well. Can you tell me more about the palette editor and can it actually create different ENB palettes that you can save and use with just ENB without using Shade? POST EDIT: Better yet Mark, is there a way we can download the manual or PDF that it comes with to take a look at prior to purchase to get a better idea of all the stuff it does.

Thanks for the reports so far, Jean-Paul. smile.png The change really is of dramatic nature when you compare the screenshots in full view and then toggling back and forth.Doesn't seem like a big investment, money-wise, but like a nice one for the overall sim experience. I'm just held back by limited time these days and my unwillingness of getting too much into a settings marathon. So, if I could wish for more reports, I may wish for some statements about the given presets and their use. Also, since I did not have much fun with things like ENB, does the shade enhancement impact the night appearance of e. g. glass cockpits and their readability?

I've always thought default FSX was "Bleached Out" and void of color,I don't Run/Own REX so this is a very nice economical choice for me,Thanks for keeping the price in the "Budget Savvy" range!!

I agree, it always seems like the ground in FSX is to washed out and the sky was never bright enough. Fortunately ENB was able to fix both of those problems, but Shade looks like it can really add a whole new dimension.

Here are a few more picks with Shade and ENB together and then the same two pic's with just Shade, does not really affect the glass cockpits clarity wise at all.
