It all looks really nice except one thing.. the clouds look like it's about to rain big time.. on all screenshots.
I just bought the program and love It! I am one of the unfortunate few who can't use ENBseries or I suffer black screens/CTDs with switches between window/full screen mode, so it's nice to add some more realistic depth and color to the FSX ground and all objects. But I agree with Tomaz and some others here, that the darker clouds are a bit of a turnoff. I understand that this may be a tradeoff that has to be accepted, since FSX's graphics engine doesn't discriminate between clouds and other scenery objects, and in a way this is similar to the ill effect of ENB making night cockpits too dark. I hope that the developer offers some hints to get a more whiter cloud, perhaps there is a trick to manipulating the stock or REX cloud textures to change their image qualities so that when the Shade effect is processed on these assets, they are appear as white as before Shade's processing, if that makes sense.

I am not getting the darker clouds overall, but I am using FEX, not REX

Folks, the Shade developer has put an enbseries.ini in the Goodies folder for you to try out.Have you tried that? It seems to work fine for me.

I have been using "Shade" now for less than 24 hours, and to be honest, I would not use FSX without it. I tested it with REX and FEX, and found FEX a lot more realistic. It also gave a mix of different shades of colour in the clouds. Some white, some greyish, and dark. Your milage may vary, according to monitor settings etc, but the shading in the cockpit, on the wings etc is a winner for me. (NGX).

I would like to buy shade but this cloud thing is a bit of a turnoff. Does it really look like as if it was always going to rain ?

Quite simply no, as I've said a number of times throughout this thread. Here is a shot with Shade + Enb active, and the clouds do not look stormy to me.861Shade.jpg

Got it, love it.I'm not sure I understand how to use it though but...the various presets bring a nice addition to FSX.Neat tool for a very correct price and a great result. Thanks Gizmo ;) FEX clouds, REX envelope files, no ENB

When I start my FSX without Shade it looks the same as when I open it with Shade. Either I don't know how to disable the effect or it's just my FSX without Shade and I'm confused. It looks very cool though... And changing presets didn't seem to make any difference. I just noticed something here. When I load a preset, and click on CLone Day One, the Shadows and Fog values doesn't seem to chance on day 2-10, while it does change on Day 1. Am I doing anything wrong here?

I think that for the guys not using ENB (count me in there) the cloud thingy can be cured by setting the colour for fog to a lesser grey one. This at least helped here to get rid of the rainy clouds in my non-ENB skies and therefore gave me the nice cloud optics and the new and better Shade contrasts in the scene. For this setting to take place, adjust the fog colour to a lighter one for all daytimes and then clone this 'lighter' day to the other 9 days with the 'clone' button. This will avoid the dark tone on the clouds, at least from my current experience. If you look into the pre-set colours you'll notice that fog was set to a rather dark grey before.See one of the default fog colours on top while my marked area shows the new, lighter, grey in use. The bottom colour is the one FSX would use if Shade wasn't there.newfog.jpgYou could even try more white fog then, suiting your preferences. Or take the blue tone and adjust it. I've also toned down the shadow darkness (making it lighter) since the downside of the setting was a rather too dark cockpit when flying towards the sun at noon. The shadows in the dark (default) tone look fantastic, no doubts, but my planes then had to use the panel lights on that heading. So if you reduce the depth of the shadows a bit, making them slightly less dark, you get your cockpit back and still receive the nice depth of the Shade enhancement, maybe not as dramatic as on the first view though. The cockpit will still get darker, which is a realistic and nice effect flying around in daytime and with changing angles towards the sun, but it won't get too dark then.

If you make a preset your happy with, then you can share it, by uploading the .SLP file found in the Profiles folder. Here is one I made, with a wintry blue hue.... Called 'Snow Blues' http://www.mediafire...jwrhbam3ev553in 751Shade1.jpg341Shade2.jpg
