October 11, 201114 yr Hey guys, I have seen mention of two photo real scenery packages for England the past few ekes. One is by JustFlight, and one is by Horizon. Some people seem to vastly prefer Horizon over JustFlight, and was shopping to get to know why. To be specific, I'm mainly interested in the London area. Also, where can I get Horizon's scenery? I only see it at Aerosoft's shop, and they don't seem to have the entire range. HelloHorizon VFR GenerationX without any doubt, clearer , crisper , better colours. The Just flight product has a strange green tint to it. http://www.playhorizon.co.uk/store/ GenX over Manston
October 11, 201114 yr Benjamin, I was asked the same question when I sold the Just Flight VFR scenery through the Swap Meet forum, and you can see my reasons for preferring the Horizon offering if you look up the thread there, which ended in June 2011. Dugald
October 12, 201114 yr Horizon VFR Generation X Version 3, Benjamin. It has a 5metre mesh resolution (twice that of VFR Real), better colour contrast, superb water masks (you can see sand bars and other features beneath shallow water), and it is fully compatible with UK2000 VFR Airfields and Xtreme airports, and Earth Simulations Treescapes UK. I originally purchased VFR Real Scenery by mistake (I thought they were the same product), so I have seen both in action. As for London itself, you may also want to have a look at VFR London X.....assuming that you have a very powerful PC (an i5 2500k powered system will do nicely). October 12, 201114 yr And the Horizon version has night-lighting around cities, towns and main roads.
October 12, 201114 yr Unfortunately, the night lighting is rubbish. I (and many others) do not use it. Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester
October 12, 201114 yr Unfortunately, the night lighting is rubbish. I (and many others) do not use it. Rubbish in what way? You wouldn't want to rely on it for navigation but at least it's not just a blanket of darkness like the JustFlight scenery.
October 12, 201114 yr I bought the VFR Real Scenery and wish I had bought the Horizon. IAN Ryzen 5800X3D, Nvidia RTX5080 - 32 Gig DDR4 RAM, 1TB & 2 TB NVME drives - Windows 11 64 bit MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe Edition Resolution 2560 x 1440 (32 inch curved monitor)
October 12, 201114 yr Author Well that settles it then. Horizon it is! Thanks for the input. Christopher: I am aware of London VFR and have been looking at it for some time. I've always heard that it's quite FPS intensive. Is it really that bad though? October 12, 201114 yr I'm sure you won't be disappointed. By the way, what are your system specs. If you fly with good photoscenery on a system that isn't up to it, all you will get is the blurries. IAN Ryzen 5800X3D, Nvidia RTX5080 - 32 Gig DDR4 RAM, 1TB & 2 TB NVME drives - Windows 11 64 bit MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe Edition Resolution 2560 x 1440 (32 inch curved monitor)
October 12, 201114 yr Author Shouldn't be a problem. I use photoscenery for many other locations around the world. Using NL2000, MegaScenery X and MegaSceneryEarth and some stuff by Newport. Usually it all loads (somewhat) on time, the only actually problematic place being NYC, but in all honesty, I use Manhattan X and FSDT KJFK alongside UTX USA which adds more roads and thus more vehicle traffic. Blurries probably won't be a problem, but again, how is LondonVFR? Is it really so har on the FPS as people are saying? If you'd compare it to Manhattan X and USCities Chicago, how would LondonVFR fare?
