October 17, 201114 yr Hello, I too use the default ATC. It may well be anathema to real pilots, but I'm not to worried 'cos I ain't one -lolDaft as it seems the main reason I don't experiment elsewhere is that with the default I can get back into IFR if and when I use the map to move the plane - airliner - to near to the destination. I don't know if the others allow that. You can certainly do that with RC, you just request 'direct to' a waypoint on your route and then you are in business. October 17, 201114 yr Author To those advocating PFE: I might try it soon then. It's good to know that it works on a network! Fortiesboy: Except they didn't give me any command that I didn't follow. I checked and rechecked, and I had done what they asked me. They even once did it on approach to PANC. They didn't even send me in a really wrong direction, they just suddenly terminated the flight plan without giving any indications to why. Usually I have only had this happen if I don't answer their calls. They will ask me to acknowledge one or two times, then terminate if I still don't respond. But they hardly ever, for as far as I know, just terminate without asking to acknowledge their last call. They didn't do it on my approach to FLL. Jeff: It's interesting that you should have had exactly the same kind of problem at FSDT's KFLL, since I also have that scenery package. I might try what you suggest one of these weekends and see what happens. The only places I have had this problem, other than FLL, is at Aerosoft's PANC and Cloud9's KLAX. And what is it with people calling me Thraini when the name is Thralni (or Benjamin, for that matter) :S Have seen people doing it for ages now. October 17, 201114 yr I have never tried PFE, but am very familiar with RC4.I am a real world Air Traffic Controller (for my sins) and am very interested by some of this thread.Vololiberista: You usually turn earlier to establish, or decide to take up the hold at BIG. I am appalled :-( The 1 rule of ATC: You ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS follow ATC instructions (unless your aircraft is in imminent danger - or you are following a TCAS RA).You don't just decide when you think you can improve things by flying your own headings. This is where RC4 excels. If you follow the instructions correctly you will have a trouble free flight.RC4 is very realistic compared with the real world. Sure there are some things which could be improved (but wait for RC5 and they will be).I might give PFE a go, so that I can make a proper comparison, but it has to be said that I am very satisfied with RC4 (I do have the Meatwater packs installed) and I can't really see the need to change.I would highly recommend RC4 to anyone who wants something that resembles the real world (ie. you will always do as you are told, and will get nagged if you don't - to put it mildly, not doing what you are told in the real world results in a lot more than a nagging. It results in a lot of paperwork!!!!)Neil

Neil You must remember that the sim is not "real world" If I flew around like that in the real world I would have been struck off eons ago!!!!!!!!!!BIG is actually a mandatory hold "unless" given instructions otherwise by ATC!! vololiberista Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA
October 17, 201114 yr I know it is not real world, but some people still want as real as it gets :-)All I was trying to highlight was that RC4 is realistic, and if you follow instructions you will mirror real life quite closely. Also, the charts may say that BIG is a mandatory hold, but you will still get positive instructions to hold, along with an estimate of the delay. I know that in the real world you would probably have to hold, there are occasions where you don't have to.
October 17, 201114 yr I'd probably keep the default ATC if the voices were no so damn monotone! I no longer have the original ADE for Aerosoft's PANC so I can't verify if it is messed up. Since I am using one I modified, I would assume it had problems or I wouldn't have modied it in the first place. For both KFLL and PANC, I'd be happy to send you the ones I did. I also made a lot of modifications to parking at KFLL to accomodate UT2 better. I think PANC's parking was fine. I don't, however, want to post the files in the AVSIM library. October 18, 201114 yr You say that they are optimized for UT2; in what way? I use MTX, is why. All I mean is I needed to make sure there was enough parking for Spirit and a couple other airlines. I also added some more GA spots so that I didn't get Ultimate GA bizjets at the gates. I guess it isn't really optimized for UT2, just optimized to be able to handle the UT2 level and variety of traffic along with additional charters, cargo and GA. I'm not sure how MTX sets their wingspans compared to UGA/WofAI so I'm not sure if all the aircraft will go to the same parking as they do in my sim. I'll email the files to the people in this thread if you want them. I don't want to upload them to any site because I don't want to support the files and some of the parking may not be entirely realistic. It is a close as I could come. October 18, 201114 yr I always hear people talking about RC4 and PFE and I rarely hear people talking about VoxATC, but when they do mention VoxATC its always that its way superior to RC and PFE. Why is it that so few people are talking about VoxATC? I dont have any experience with these programs, I only fly online with real humans manning the ATC (which I would recommend for anyone serious about their hobby :) ) Johan Pettersen
December 30, 201114 yr duckbilled.... I know everyone says the meatwater add on for RC makes it a lot better than the robotic sounding voices but I am not buying it unless I can see an example. Would you buy a add on aircraft or scenery without screen shots? If the meatwater mod is required, promo videos should include it..Meatwater voice pack is free. I have been using it for a couple of years. Download from AVSIM file library but be warned.....it is a big download Neal Howard
December 30, 201114 yr The default ATC is so unrealistic as to be an anathema for real pilots. It's perfectly fine for VFR (ground/tower/approach/flight following) flights, although I have one or two quibbles. Here is one of them...."Piper Alpha/X-Ray/Whisky/Lima, please expedite your climb to 4000"...20 seconds later...."Piper Alpha/X-Ray/Whisky/Lima, please expedite your climb to 4000"...repeat ad nauseam until told to switch to another frequency :( Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester
