Haha, Goran said to thank you for putting him near the big 50!
LOL. I made a typo. I'm closer to 40. Trying to multi task. I got PM's and emails coming and I'm trying to finish this aircraft I'm working on before the end of the day.

I hear you Goran, I asked that question when they released their first region.By the looks of these screens, I'll be spending my money on more aircraft instead of scenery.VFR at it's finest!

Everything must be authorized by Austin. I have BEGGED Tom Kyler to see what he can do about getting more screenshots released and the answer is always the same. Austin has the final say on when, where and what shall be released. And rightfully so. A very popular FSX development team have constantly said they will never develop for x plane because it is too unstable with it's constant updates That development team, when asked the question NOW if they will switch, have said "we'll make that decision when the time comes".
I understand completely but please KEEP asking ....lolNo $hit about that popular FSX development team, (there is only one team that I know who said something like that)... trust me on this one, they will go where the money is ........with their heads between their legs if they do XP-10....tooooo freeking funny.
In the image with the police car-Are the building and fence made with Lego bricks? And Laminar needs to add a new light set: "emergency_strobe_blue", etc. I know, I know. You don't notice emergency vehicle lights when you're flying an airplane...
Sorry bud, you DO notice police strobes at night. Reflecting off the buildings, grass, other cars...gotta have a shower now, calm down

A very popular FSX development team have constantly said they will never develop for x plane because it is too unstable with it's constant updates (completely false, btw. In 3 years and over half a dozen updates to XP9, X Plane has crashed only 2 times on my PC. And that was the 2 times I installed the beta release of the update) Don't even ask how many OOM's and CTD's I've had with FSX and FS9), and not as flexible as the FSX SDK (I had to have a chuckle at that one). That development team, when asked the question NOW if they will switch, have said "we'll make that decision when the time comes".
Hmm... Orbx has stated that they have too much money involved in FSX specific tech for them to switch. Captain Sim I dont think has ever mentioned XP. Aerosoft has made their opinion very clear. PMDG on the other hand....
There isn't much in the way of an actual SDK that would allow us to do the sort of deep programming we can with MSFS, plus his airflow simulation etc I know has been somewhat controversial in the fact that it only uses the geometry of the model to supposedly predict aircraft performance. That doesn't really give us much flexibility if things don't come out right off the bat. (which is pretty common in something on the level of what we're doing)
My completely uneducated guess therefore would be that PMDG is the developer you are referring to!

Hehe, getting busy now? Worrying trend here, I'm 43 but with a 5yo I have to avg my age to 19, but probably, right now, have a mental age of 13! Phat.Hmm, me thinks a certain major scenery co. Is almost made redundant by this autogen! Why pay $30 for a tiny town when u get an entire State?! As long as we can provide the art assets for the unique region, eg Hills Hoists, BBQs, our unique 'power poles' and rusting car wrecks for the Oz region. But the airports and major town features will always need bespoke design.

No you don't! Nor do you notice trees, roads, windows, specular glints off cars' windshields, clouds, the horizon, or 3 deminsional components within the cockpit. Laminar should stop wasting their time on fluff and focus on the flight model. Give me a flight model bare naked with line drawings of gauges on a matte grey panel... Har har :D Of course you notice police lights. How else are you to find the accident in your 117???

I can see Goran grinning at that comment! But scenery objects & airports will still be important and popular.

As a developer, I'm sure it is understandable that I would rather not criticize or mention any development team by name. We're all trying to make a living doing this and I would rather not slander anyone's name or reputation. I just wish certain developers would try to HELP make X Plane a popular sim instead of waiting for others to do it and THEN jumping on board and ride the wave the other teams have started. It'll be "interesting" to see what happens in the next 6-12 months with 3rd party add ons. The CRJ was just the start.

Would the shadow drape over a fuselage?
Yes. IIRC shadows are rendered properly and drape over other objects. I saw a screenshot where the cross frame of a window on an airport hangar was casting a shadow onto the floor of the hangar.Quite amazing.
