October 27, 201114 yr Commercial Member My point is that we don't know how big is performance hit with large number (more than ten) of AI planes. I guess XPlane 10 will need very fast computer for all the features, but it will use new hardware much better than FSX does (which doesn't use it at all ). I'm really looking forward to XPlane 10, but I'm most interested how Europe and Asia looks like. Michał Puto A2A Simulations | Blockhouse-C | Twitter
October 27, 201114 yr I'm secretly hoping that xp10 will beg my purchase of a new pc, my old core i7 has lasted too well. But perhaps its 8 virtual cores will finally be of use. Instead of like now, when I get 50fps flying xplane, while also rendering a video, fiddling with blender AND with Chrome open, all at the same time. If it uses up all that power, we are in for a treat.Ah Asia, I keep forgetting to try flying there and grabbing some free photo textures. I must do so soon! Bali might be very nice (not that I'd ever go in RL!) Then again, I might never fly during the day.. Simmo W, Melbourne, Ozhttp://www.youtube.com/user/id5556
October 27, 201114 yr Look at these screen shots....look at the shadows....post #38http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php/topic/49291-x-plane-10-preview/
October 27, 201114 yr Hey thanks Alain. The avalanche has started! Yep, lighting/shadows will be a huge benefit. Creating chaos, diversions, all the distractions that a pilot has to deal with. Off to Aerosoft again.. Simmo W, Melbourne, Ozhttp://www.youtube.com/user/id5556
October 27, 201114 yr Commercial Member Ah yes. The car park. That's KSEA. I was talking to Tom about that earlier today.I didn't know Mathijs made those public.Looks like more XP10 screenshots will be made public very soon.As Simon said, the avalanche has started.
October 27, 201114 yr Look at these screen shots....look at the shadows....post #38http://forum.aerosof...ane-10-preview/ Holy Cow!!!! Now THAT is impressive! Just showed some guys in the office, who are not really interested in flight simulator and....well the word 'gobsmacked' comes to mind.Rhydian

October 27, 201114 yr Holy Cow!!!! Now THAT is impressive!Funny thing is....I'm like a kid in a candy store...a bit under pressure of course given the time frame, but here's why. I started in scenery back in 2006 and at the time, just couldn't make anything I liked due to lack of proper shadows, lighting and ground work...and now, nearly 6 years later, xp10 lays all this stuff at my feet and in a big way....and all the sudden, there really isn't anything scenery wise that can't be made. I don't even know where to start and get this....I'm on a VERY limited texture budget for default scenery.....autogen hogs it all :) There is lots of room for even further improvement.

What excites me the most about x-plane 10 is the sheer scope of what you and your colleagues are trying to achieve. I have never seen this sort of detail before in a flight sim.Rhydian
October 27, 201114 yr Looks like I'll be able to take the R22 and do some street by street exploring, VFR with this type of scenery will be a hoot!
