Being taken by brand loyalty and being irrational don't necessarily have to go hand in hand. Ignorance can also play a very large part.I have seen a multitude of people criticize x plane without ever having put in the time to get to know it. A 10 minute demo is hardly enough time. And that's only from the people who are willing to "have a look". For every one of those people, there are at least 20 people who have never touched it and form an opinion solely based on a few screenshots that someone posted. To me, THAT is narrow minded.

That may be the case with some. Then there are those like me that have dug in, even designed scenery/aircraft and moved on...and I've bought just about every version of xplane except the very early incarnations. I hope version 10 will live up to the expectations and keep me-I have no loyalty except to the best simming experience at a given point in time.

We all have different views for different subject matters. Thanx for the comments on my work. Unfortunately, I won't be posting anymore renders and in-sim screenshots in these forums as I have been told by Tom A. that this is frowned upon when it comes to payware as it constitutes advertising.

With that in mind at any point in time there is one that for me recreates the flight experience (and I only care about GA) the best-and much of that time (the 1990 decade) it wasn't the fs series.

"Pro-Pilot"! First desktop sim to create an illusion of real flight.............as far as I'm concerned. FS98 wasn't even close at the time, IMO. Was just circling around a point over the simulated San Francisco, and Pro-Pilot was providing some sensations ofairflow over the flight surfaces, rather than marionette type stick/yoke movements in a lifeless vacuum.L.Adamson

I still have the manual that came with Pro-Pilot. The information within is still useful to this day.

Seroiusly, I agree screenshots like that don't show much or at best, show very limited 'micro-aspect' of the sim. There is much that hasn't been shown but will be out in short order. One thing we have going for us at laminar is we're enthusiasts...not just guys looking for a job. Whereas Austin is primary a flight model and systems guy and not the artist type.....he has, at least, snatched up people who are passionate about flight simming and wanting making the product much better. Over time, I think this will bear out really fantastic stuff.

That's why Xplane is miles ahead of the competition in my opinion.

Do you guys really think that guys at Aces, or other simulation devs were/are thinking about money only? If it wasn't a passion they would make another Call of Duty game, not flight sim.
