October 28, 201114 yr Commercial Member Look at these screen shots....look at the shadows....post #38http://forum.aerosof...ane-10-preview/ The biggest problem I see with XP10, is it looks like Sim Ciry 2012, not a flight sim. They are missing one really really important thing. Namely AIRCRAFT! Were are the aircraft? I have seen the 747, but the external and cockpit look about the same quality of FSX's 747. I just hope they dont put all there focus on scenery and forget that you need something to explore the scenery with! Kevin Miller 3D Artist and developer

Add to that the various GA aircraft made by other developers and you have quite a comprehensive fleet of default aircraft.Remember, these are default aircraft. They are not systems rich or highly detailed, nor were they ever meant to be. A systems rich airliner can take up to 4 or 5 years to make. The screenshot that you are saying looks like SimCity is just one area of a built up neighbourhood. This is what neighbourhoods look like. Have you seen some of the neighbourhoods of the suburbs of London, England or Sydney, Australia? They look EXACTLY like that. Don't judge the entire sim by looking at just one area that represents about 0.1% of the world. There are many other screenshots that have been posted in various forums where you can get a better, overall perspective of what is going to be included in the final product.
October 28, 201114 yr Oh dear, here we go again. Check out our blog, there's more than enough reviews of stunning planes (payware and freeware). xplane has had very good aircraft for 2 yrs now, we've been whingeing about the scenery, now we get this.Ok there aren't many amazing tubeliners, but there are a few to rock your socks, like Peter's A380, the CRJ-200, and so on. Just take your time in the better payware shops.Don't forget most of these shots are only early testers (they may get better , I'm sure they'll stick in the planes when they're more confident or go gold.I have many, many videos on youtube showing off all the fantastic planes in xp. This is a random one I picked, the CF104, amazing systems and flight model that A2A are yet to even release. Watching it after all this time reminds me of how good it is, it makes you wee your pants on every approach though, it can bite back with massive stall effect if you go below 190 at the wrong time! Flying this over the new scenery & clouds, can't wait. Simmo W, Melbourne, Ozhttp://www.youtube.com/user/id5556

October 28, 201114 yr Chuck...I want to thank you and AVSIM for starting this thread for flight sim enthusiasts about the screenshots here. I have to say there's no news of it from x-plane.org and as a long time member there, I personally find that quite embarrassing. I'm very glad for people to have the opportunity to see where x-plane is heading and what it is capable of. There really is a lot more to come.-TomK
October 28, 201114 yr Commercial Member Thanks, but im still not seeing anything impressive. I dont see anything new. Not even self shadows? The screenshots on the link you were provided are screenshots of x plane 10 aircraft in the x plane 9 environment. No developer on the x plane development team has ALL of x plane except Austin Meyer and Ben Supnik.
October 28, 201114 yr Thanks, but im still not seeing anything impressive. I dont see anything new. Not even self shadows? What Goran said is completely correct.Anyway, just try to imagine those aircraft, flying over the cities shown in the pictures above, at sunset, in a storm, with AI aircraft getting battered around by the winds, and all of that amazing lighting. That is why XP10 is getting me (as well as just about all the other people in this forum) very excited. Daniel Miller

Many thanks, Chuck, for allowing people to see that X Plane is something to take notice of.
October 28, 201114 yr Commercial Member Sorry. I havent been paying much attention to XP10's post's. It seems they are posting a lot of screenshots of scenery and aircraft of XP10, just not the two combined, so its very confusing to someone like me that hasent been following along. Dev shots like this is a double edged sword. Kevin Miller 3D Artist and developer
October 28, 201114 yr Thanks to all who have shared these screenshots and videos. It is understandable that there is a favorite aspect of the flight sim environment that varies from one sim-flyer to the next. I am impressed with it all. I enjoy the detailed rendering of familiar cities such as I-5 Freeway directly under short-final to KSAN in the video above, but even more would be true rendering of terrain on and around airports. I mostly use FSX now and slightly less frequently XP9. I hope to soon say goodbye to all of my flat airports and perhaps see refinement of not only the sloped runways from XP9 but inclusion of the undulations between runways and tarmac at many airports that I have traveled to. If the detail of roadway textures, guard rails and overpasses are as good as the video previews then hopefully this level of detail will be included in the rendering of taxiway bridges with AI vehicles passing below. These are the things that make my on-ground experience more realistic. Keith Guillory

October 28, 201114 yr WOW I'm speechless. I can't wait to get X-plane 10. Finally something is built right, even if x-plane 10 is not 100% complete when it first ships but it's on the right track and that what counts it will get better and it will have more airplanes and better sceneries and it will grab most of the big developers attention to create something for X-plane and I'm sure PMDG will and should be one of them.Evan B
October 28, 201114 yr Commercial Member I read on another blog that Austin will be showing a preview of X-Plane 10 during the upcoming FSWeekend, if someone happens to be at the event PLEASE take a lot of pics! We'll video it and put it on our site. If you never seen Austin present you are in for something special. He's rather enthusiastic!
