November 13, 201114 yr Commercial Member Indeed it'd be great to see UT2 traffic on the airways, but I imagine there may be problems of the UT2 arriving/departing traffic and MTX bgl traffic in an airport? No more than the usual if there's a lot of traffic. Both traffic sources behave in the same way. You just need to adjust both sets of sliders to suit your desires for density. I like it pretty dense, but I'm willing to ZAP aircraft ahead of me in the take-off queues if they get too long! ;-) (For Zapping I use the FSUIPC facility assigned to a button).RegardsPete Win10: 22H2 19045.2728 CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz. For Zapping I use Refresh AI button in ASE (on my second screen/pc), I understand it removes the traffic only in my FOV.Thanks,Dirk.
November 13, 201114 yr Commercial Member For Zapping I use Refresh AI button in ASE (on my second screen/pc), I understand it removes the traffic only in my FOV.Really? I don't think so! I think that's an illusion because all the traffic will be deleted and re-created.As far as I know, that facility erases and refreshes all traffic, so they all start again. That facility is there in order to ensure the traffic uses the correct runway for the current wind direction, after ASE has set it or refreshed it. Left to itself the AI obeys the runway-for-wind rules eventually, but it can take a few minutes whilst traffic already queued or on approach are serviced (as in real life, really).RegardsPete Win10: 22H2 19045.2728 CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz. November 13, 201114 yr I found this post by wildtomcat:Thanks, Dirk. Looks like a bit of work, but thanks for the HU.I'm on Summer 2011 so far (so I got rid of Autumn 2011) and got one BAe146 at EGLC when not enabling the generic UT2 paints.

It may well be the case as you said. But I definitely remember somebody created a tool (I went through the readme, didn't check myself) that claimed to eliminate traffic in sight. It was some sort of free bonus tool, somebody here may remember it. Perhaps it was just wrong wording as this is not possible in FSX in principle. I'll try to find it and share here.Thanks,Dirk.
November 13, 201114 yr Ok.1. Download and install the repaints and models you are looking for. These sites are good sources of information on which models to use and where to find them.http://www.fsonline....aircraft_modelshttp://ultimatetraff...an-ai-guide-v30http://worldoftraffic.de.ki/I install my aircraft in to the simobjects UT2 aircraft folder. When you are installing, use consistent UI_manufacturer and ui_type entries. For example, in my sim, all Boeings have the entry ui_manufacturer=AI BOEING, all Airbuses have ui_manufacturer=AI AIRBUS. This will make installation easier and you should also make all of the entries the same case. If you install the same ui type from two different developers (DJC and TFS, for example) make sure you use the same ui_type. The reason for doing this is you want all of your aircraft to be organized well in the UT2 menus. Also, make sure all paints of the same type have unique ui_variation entries and every paint in your sim has a unique Title= entry.2. Open up the UT2 interface and assign the paints to the UT2 flightplans. I will use the BA Cityflyer EMB 190 as an example. Go to Traffic Options/Aircraft Repaints. In the top right dropdown box, select "UT2Weekly_Official". Under the UT2 Aircraft Selection section, click the sort by radio button to sort by airline. Remaining in the UT2 Aircraft Selection section, select "British Airways (BA)" from the Select Carrier dropdown box, select "BA Cityflyer (CJ)" from the Select Operator dropdown box and from the Select Equipment Type box, pick "Embraer 190 (E90)".3. In the table at the bottom of the window, it will show the paint that is assigned to the BA Cityflyer EMB 190 flightplans. It will likely be a UT2 default paint (Deadalus). "Manufacturer" is the UI_manufacturer in the aircraft.cfg, "Type" is the ui_type, "Variation" is the ui_variation and "Max" is the number of times the paint will be assigned. I will explain more about Max in a second. In the table, highlight the default paint currently assigned and click the "Remove Aircraft" button at the bottom of the window and click "Save Assignments". Now, nothing is assigned to these flightplans.4. Go to the "FSX Aircraft Selection" section of the window. The drop down boxes work like this - "Select Aircraft Manufacturer" is the ui_manufacturer, "Select Aircraft Type" is the ui_Type and "Select Variation" is the ui_Variation from the aircraft.cfg. If you organized your aircraft.cfg entries like I did, the next step looks like this: Pick "AI EMBRAER" from the "Select Aircraft Manufacturer" dropdown list, pick "EMB-190" from the "Select Aircraft Type" list and "BA Cityflyer" from the "Select Variation" list. Leave "Max Usage at "Unlimited", click the "Add to Assignments" button and the "Save Assignments" at the bottom of the window. The paint is now assigned to the flightplans. You can assign as many paints as you like and UT2 will divided them among the flight for that aircraft. Max usage limits the number of times that the paint is used. For example, if you set it at a Max of 1, the paint will appear once. This is helpful when assigning special paints. The table for my BA Cityflyer EMB-190 has a standard livery at unlimited and a livery for the 700th E-Jet set with a max of 1. Why? There is only one 700th E-jet.This might seem complicated but it is quite simple once you do a few. Honestly, the worst part is installing the paints and models in to FSX. I have about 10,000 paints installed and I usually do them in bulk. This process, however, is what make UT2 so powerful. If a new livery is introduced, you can easily download it and assign it to UT2's flight plans. UT2 is highly customizable and the results are wonderful once you get it set up. In addition, you can pick the specific flights that liveries will be assigned to but that's a tutorial for another day. November 14, 201114 yr Thanks for the tutorial, Jeff. It would be nice if I knew which additional UK airline/aircraft combos I needed when using the default UT2 install, so if anyone else around here has that information, then please let me know! I do not expect a totally exhaustive list, but information regarding regular passenger and cargo flights to and from the UK would be nice Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester
November 14, 201114 yr Great thread, and thanks for the instructions Jeff. Dirk, you had asked earlier about my settings... FWIW, UT2 over-rides FSX settings and my FSX Traffic sliders are set to 2% Airliner and 1% GA.Honestly, it would be nice if there was a program that displayed correct traffic "out of the box" so to speak both offline and while flying online. Flying online, I managed to get IVAO "MTL" models to display although I was not using SquawkBox and I found that MTL did a fabulous job of covering mostly all the AI sets out there. The MTL database is quite extensive and new livery sets are introduced all the time. \Robert Hamlich/
December 6, 201114 yr For those that want a simple procedure I have placed an ilistrated manual about how to add aircraft to EGLC in UT2 on the UK2000 Web Site AFCAD page.In answer to the query about repositioning UT2 aircraft to another disk, the answer is to use a link from the drive that FSX is one. To do this you need to enter the cmd dos box and use mklink. For a typical installation you first need to change to the FSX folder and then simobjects with this instruction cdProgram Files (x86)Microsoft GamesMicrosoft Flight Simulator Xsimobjects. Then the command will be mklink /d "UT2 Aircraft" "D:UT2 Aircraft" assuming you wanted them on disk "D".NormanEdit: I should have said that you will have already cut and pasted your UT2 Airrcrafts folder to disk D.
December 6, 201114 yr There is an even easier way.Add an entry in the [main] section of your fsx.cfg such as:SimObjectPaths.6=J:!FSXAircraftNote. The number after the point should be one more than the highest existing SimObjectPaths line.
December 6, 201114 yr I can confirm that Norman's UT2 instruction manual is very easy to read and understand. I had never added AI planes or flightplans of any kind to FSX before reading it, and yet I was able to integrate 15 new or modified airlines into UT2 within the space of 24 hours. In fact, the procedure is so straightforward, that I no longer need the manual. All of the packages that I have added were downloaded from the World of AI website, courtesy of their easy to use installer. I am only interested in airlines flying to and from the UK, so other UK users may be interested to know that I have successfully added Thomsonfly, Thomas Cook Airlines, First Choice, and European Air Charter schedules (the last two are no longer operating, but I wanted Manchester to look like it did when I last visited in 2007). I have also added a few cargo airlines (DHL Air UK, UPS, TNT Airways, China Airlines Cargo), and will hopefully have Fedex added tonight (courtesy of the Project AI package). I already have plenty of Ryanair and Easyjet planes, because I have not updated the UT2 database since I installed. December 13, 201114 yr No. UT2 is placed there by default, and there is no option to put it somewhere else. If you are having space problems on your C: drive, the UT2 installation is probably advancing the time when you won't have enough space to boot up the computer anyway.By default, many programmes place data files on Drive C:, such as Microsoft Word and most Graphics programmes. FSX is on Drive C: unless you use the option to install it elsewhere. I have now configured my most memory-hungry data folders to an external USB hard drive. When it eventually fills up I'll buy another one. Many older computers, including my old one, have a very small boot-up Drive C, with a much bigger drive D, either virtual or real. More recently, computers now come with much bigger HDs, so space isn't a problem. I need to check this, but you are the source of the most MSFS knowleadge after all. It may well be the case as you said. But I definitely remember somebody created a tool (I went through the readme, didn't check myself) that claimed to eliminate traffic in sight.
