Transavia virtual IVAO and VATSIM.Nice Flight ops. Real loadsheets, fpl and weathercharts. Perfect for NGX ;-)

I have always flown for a VA most because it is a community within it self and you meet some great people and it is nice to fly online with other pilots.

Fly for quite a few...Thomson, BA, Virgin and Qantas.

I certainly fly for one - TransAustralian Aviation Group http://www.transaustraliaag.com/. Been around for about 2-3 years now. We're mainly based in Aust/NZ however one of the benefits is that you can fly for any airline replicated (and we have quite a few). We also have replicated quite a few cargo airlines eg. FEDEX, Singapore Cargo, Emirates Cargo as well as our own little charter business which we use to fly smaller a/c (to give you a break from heavy iron...and something to do instead of staring at VNAV/LNAV lol) eg. Cessna carava, C340, BN2, etc.Besides promoting my own VA, flying for VA's is an excellent experience and gives you a bit of structure eg we use VAFS (just one of many such programs) which provides fuel/pax/load numbers for us. Not every flight IRL is done at max load.Anyway, there's no shortage of VA's - just choose one and away you go. Just be sure which one you choose eg. American Airlines, SWA, etc and what a/c/routes they have.Good luck

THY Virtual for me. Fly THY. Mostly real world routes with real world flight plans. Getting assignments monthly, have a very good flight evaluation system (like fspassenger), even your correct light usage, fuel calculations and landing is evaluated, so differenciates good pilot from careless pilot. Many online events and even some real world gatherings.

Our airline, Platinum Airways, is just the opposite: we are very low on rules. There are only two rules: you need to be over 18 and you must have fun. We combine Open Skies (fly any flight of yourchoice with the aircraft of your choice at the time of your choice) with 5 hubs (Newark KEWR, Dallas Ft Worth KDFW, Vancouver CYVRT, Perth YPPH and Brussels EBBR). We have a Destination of the Week feature, and we have a Military and a Relief section. We have four active forums and a screenshot of the week competition, the winner being published on our home page for a week. One and a half year after launch, we have about 100 active pilots, who represent a wide array of the simming society. Feel free to drop by.Stijn

I'm very pleased to be a member of WestWind Virtual Airline. We have hubs all over the world, and all kinds of aircraft in our hangar. We have realistic routes, but also allow the flexibility to fly wherever you want. There are a number of preset charter and cargo routes, but again there is the flexibility to fly a passenger charter or cargo wherever you please. The number one rule at WestWind is this is a hobby and our goal is to have fun. WestWind has been in operation for 15 years, and has over 300 active pilots. The forums are professional and full of helpful and knowledgeable people. I highly recommend it. Visit us at www.flywestwind.com.Alan MorrisCat III PilotCincinnati AHM

I fly for Eagle Valley Air, a.k.a. The Association of Virtual Bush Pilots. We only do GA, props and rotors, no jets. I love flying with this outfit. I find that the VA (and our CEO hates that term) provides me with a lot of realism and focus that I would not have otherwise. I have learned a lot about the sim and RW aviation as a result of my participation with EVA. I also just enjoy the fellowship and conversation that a VA creates. It's a bunch of people who are mostly on the same page with me. The VA adds a lot to my flying. These days, I wouldn't want to fly without a VA. Fortunately, I've found one that fits my personal style. It's important to find one that fits with your personality, because there is a lot of diversity among the VA's. If one doesn't suit you, move on, because there's probably one out there that will.

I'm a VA pilot and owner, my own VA Air Fresno (www.airfresno.com) was created in 1998 but I've had to close it a couple of times due to health, no time, etc. We're opening again for 2012, since retiring I've taken car of those time issues. I'm not a realist **** though, LOL!!! We use "old tech" things like SATA's FS ACARS, FS9, no entrance exam, no online flight commitment, etc. We have some guys that will use as much realism as possible but we leave that up to the pilot, we try not to burn anyone out with a laundry list of requirements. I've also flown for one of the many VSWA's, Air Canada, and one of the BA's from a very long time ago. One of the things I have seen though, not only in this forum but everywhere, is a decline in postings regarding VA's, to me that indicates waining interest. I have 5 staffers for my little regional VA, all of whom have been with me at least 5 years, others come and go but not so many as before.

I'm not so sure. I think there's been a decrease in postings, a decrease in overall virtual airlines but I suspect that's due to market consolidation and a changing in the way you market a VA on the internet. Posting on forums such as this makes a lot less sense when the biggest source of new traffic is Google itself - why look around for a VA listing when one can simply google "virtual airline" and see what pops up?Cheers!Luke
