How do I set stabilizer trim in 2D panel?

Featured Replies

Pete, I'll make Jay's words, my words. The subject here is TRIM Indicator not modeled. Not "which is the best 2D or 3D".
Yea and pmdg have stated why its not moduled so dont know why people keep bringing it up all the time you only going to get the same response all the time

Cause I paid full dolars for a full product and they'll not refund me for unfinished product. We all have the right to speak regarding this subject. I was threatened to be banned some weeks ago by Randazzo cause I demanded to have the full product (just the trim indicator + fuel cutoff). So, what else can I do?I'll complain, and complain and complain. Maybe if 100 people come here and speak up, they'll model this INCREDIBLY SIMPLE, YET EXTREMELY USEFUL addition.Like Kevin said, digi-switches on the control wheels are modeled man... AND FULLY ANIMATED!

Does anyone know if the trim is directly readable at an fsuipc offset? Perhaps the SDK will have a readable variable. I only need to set the trim once usually (before takeoff).Bryn

Check out the FSUIPC SDK, document "FSUIPC4 Offsets Status.pdf", offset 0BC2 (haven't tried it myself so don't know if that's what you're looking for).

Cheers,
Emile Bax.

I cant answer that but I can give you my 'work-around'. To use it though you will need to re-enable your VC. I set the VC view to the throttle quadrent, centered and zoomed in so thats all I see. Then I just use the 'A" key to check setting prior to takoff. It ain't perfect but it works and just takes a second to check things then back to the 2D cockpit.

It is INCREDIBLY SIMPLE, YET you seem unwilling to press F9, A, A to see the throttle vector in all its glory, read the trim value then press F10 to return to the cartoon view. So, for as long as you continue to complain and complain and complain, we will indulge in our right to speak on this subject and continue to point out how foolish you are being and laugh, and laugh, and laugh.

Paul, if 1/2 your precious VC was missing and PMDG gave you some mickey mouse excuse, guess who would be in here screaming his head off?

Jay

Because if it's brought up enough maybe PMDG will relent on this and add the panel, since all other 2D's are there.
PMDG has explained why they did not include it in the 2d panel. They also stated they are moving away from 2d panels to Virtual Cockpits, even though they will continue to support home cockpit builders. I think a lot of people are going to be shocked to find out that 2d-panel flying is history when the 777 comes out. They are not trying to upset anyone but they gotta go with the majority and what makes the most business sense. With the hardware that is available today developers have more flexibility to push the limits of what is possible in Simuation and most people appreciate this. They are not going to limit themselves for the few folks that are still stuck in the past.Just like the FS9 and FSX debate. Lots of folks said they would not upgrade to FSX and would stay with FS9. Well now that many developers are not even making FS9 products anymore those folks got left behind.

I don't care about what you think, seriously. You still try to enforce the "glory" of 3D, and diminish the 2D users. So, please, just don't comment on 2D topics anymore. Just in case you didn't notice, you have nothing useful to speak on 2D. Your 3D is full modeled, so you're just trying to add fuel to fire. Please, leave.

Just ignore him. He haven't relevant ideas to help, other than saying that we must switch to 3D. Humam beings hate to be ignored.

I plan to, it's just that 'elitist's' types annoy the crap outa me, especially when they can't even make their point without insulting others. When PMDG figures out that 20-30% of their customers won't be buying the 777 because of no 2D, maybe they will rethink their decision. I know I have bought my last product from them unless this is changed.Us folks who 'live in the past' spend a lot of money too.

No-one here is trying to get 2D to the 777. In fact, there's no 777 mention on this thread. The fact is: 95% of 2D panels are modeled. We just want to have the missing 5% that PMDG refuses to admit that they missed! How simple is that!?Again, we DO NOT WANT to enforce 2D on 777. We just want a complete 737NGX as they promised before selling it.

The other growing market as I see it is in the home cockpit area using 2D panels, multi monitors with separate outside views, that is the flight sim future not this VC, I can understand if all you can do is VC but for the others there is a whole world of realism out there that gets as close to a real sim as can be done in a home.percy.

This degenerated quickly. For me, the 3D model is poorer performance; reduced gauge clarity; cumbersome panning; and cumbersome gauge manipulation. All of which hinders what I want to do most, which is practising procedures. That is why I stick to the 2D model. Indeed, I'm still a fan of PS1.3, because of it's similar procedural integrity.Half the time, I don't even bother with the exterior model and just switch it off - why waste the computer resources? Please note, though, that I used "I". Each to their own.I won't turn the interior model back on, but will instead wait to see if the SDK will allow me to write my own simple gauge to read the trim. That's all I need. And I'll test out that FSUIPC offset to see what it reads. And that's all from me.

I still haven't understood why there are so many 2D haters. Why is it that people that use 3D complain over the 2D being there..... It doesn't disturb anyone flying the 3D cockpit....
