How do I set stabilizer trim in 2D panel?

Jay and Manfred I am feeling generous tonight with the Holiday Season coming on. I will refund your money if the following terms are met. PMDG deactivates your Activation codes, and your both banned for life from the NGX Forum. Are those terms acceptable to you? You can take the refund money and go buy the I-fly.
Paul, heres a better idea, stop reading threads about unhappy customers. Better still, just block my posts. However thanks for the offer, I already own the IFly, as well as the CS and PIC. However I mostly fly the QW 757 as it has all the features it advertizes, and none of the complaints I see here daily.Hmmmm, maybe we should start an Occupy PMDG thread :-)

Lol this thread is better than watching a comedy on tv, 2d users are saying fraud well if it fraud why dont they take it to court than least back up what they are saying. talking about refunds lol this got me since when do u get refunds when there nothing broken and everything works. People should look outside their door and see what happening around the world and stop complaining about the missing throttle quadrant 2d. Hopefully this thread will get locked but we all know that it will come back again. People shoud abide by pmdg decision on the reason on why its not implemented and enjoy the ngx it not that u unable to use it

I don't care about what you think, seriously. You still try to enforce the "glory" of 3D, and diminish the 2D users. So, please, just don't comment on 2D topics anymore. Just in case you didn't notice, you have nothing useful to speak on 2D. Your 3D is full modeled, so you're just trying to add fuel to fire. Please, leave.Just ignore him. He haven't relevant ideas to help, other than saying that we must switch to 3D. Humam beings hate to be ignored.
Now you are getting annoying. The OP asked how to read the trim values from a 2D view. I told him how. What have you done other then moan and complain, and be increasingly rude to anyone you feel doesn't share your personal world view. You boast about how you have the 'Right' to speak on this subject but want all dissenting voices to either ignore you or leave. Well sorry to be the one to point out the blindingly obvious, but as this is a private forum, you (and I) have no rights here at all.PIC007, If half the VC was missing or inoperative, and the tools needed to fly the aircraft were not available in any other view, then yes, I would be upset as the aircraft could not be flown. However, if what was needed was available in alternate views, then I would have to use those alternate views when necessary and simply say that the VC was not complete (think LevelD 767, or even PMDG 747). If I were to demand a refund from the LevelD because they advertised a Virtual Cockpit (which it has) which in my opinion, was not good enough for me to fly gate to gate, do you honestly think they would pay me much attention. In this case, the 'offending' view is required once only at the gate before pushback and is at most four button presses away in a non-time critical phase of flight. Despite the repeated and aggressive complaints of a very, very small number of users, is this really a deal breaker?

Paul Smith.

What's the relevance of this text? I'm trying to figure it out... If you are unhappy with the thread, just LEAVE.

Sad to hear the 777 will have no 2D panels. Simple work around for the 3d pedestal / trim setting: From the main forward 2D cockpit, press shift+A together. The view switches to the 3D pedestal where you can see the trim setting. To switch back to the 2D forward view, press the 'A' key one time.It would be nice to have the option for the trim setting to be visible in the FMC (Menu/Extras/Trim page) or on the EICAS screen - yes, I know this may not be realistic but it would be convenient.IMHO, a minor inconvenience for an otherwise outstanding panel.Rob Hall.

System specs: Dual core E6300 (1.86g X 2), 2gb RAM, nvidea7800GT, Saitek yoke, CH throttle (6 lever), Soundblaster live.
Add-ons: FSX: LDS767, FSL Concorde, FT E175/195, PMDG 747X/737X, Active Sky E, some freeware airports.
Human specs: Desktop simulation since FS1, beta tester (LDS, FSL), 737NG simulator tech (Threshold Aviation), r sole+.

NOSE UP (save as "noseUp.lua")

NOSE DOWN (save as "noseDown.lua")

ipc.control(70310, 8192)tt = ipc.readLvar("L:ElevTrimTT")ipc.writeSTR(0x3380, "Trim: " .. tt);ipc.writeSW(0x32FA, 5);

1.- Save both code snippets to two text files and name them noseUp.lua and noseDown.lua. Place them at the FSX Modules folder (C:Program Files (x86)Microsoft GamesMicrosoft Flight Simulator XModules by default)2.- Assign a keystroke or button-press for nose-up via FSUIPC, to the control "Lua noseUp", and another one for nose down using the "Lua noseDown" controlYou need a registered copy of FSUIPC, and version 4.6 or later

Works a treat. You're a legend. Cheers, Bryn.

I wanted to bring up this suggestion anyways, and this thread seems to be an appropriate place to do so.There was a related problem with hardware throttles and the A/T system. People never knew where their throttle had to be physically placed when disengaging the A/T in order to avoid a rapid thrust change upon disconnection. Obviously it's impossible to link the hardware to the A/T other than installing servos on your levers. The devs brought a neat little workaround and added an "TLA" (the Airbus donut equivalent, if you will) that is selectable to only appear when you move the throttles, or show it all the time or hide it altogether. We all know this indication is 100% unrealistic (!), as not present on the real counterpart. Still it's there, and I have yet to see one to complain about it.I hereby cast a vote for a similar small indication for the elevator trim. We don't have a 2D control stand panel, and it's been stated it's a lot of work (probably too much after all even for an SP) to create. So what I am thinking of would be a small numeric readout, say somewhere on the EICAS (upper or lower DU, preferably upper though...), and I propose the following conditions: Display only during trim change, and display e. g. only on ground, or only on ground until takeoff phase, something like that. And an option to turn it off altogether, obviously.Anyone with me?sig.gif

I still haven't understood why there are so many 2D haters. Why is it that people that use 3D complain over the 2D being there..... It doesn't disturb anyone flying the 3D cockpit....
It seems, they are very busy finding knobs in VC, so they haven't any time left to reflect. happy.pngThe ability of having the choice will never be a penalty on the user side. Maybe they get it some day...Breaking the tradition of making 2D is the evil tidings in FS scene from my perspective. The level of information you'll get by a single sight at VC panels in FSX environment can't ever compete with 2D panels in this category....and using 2D i never get sick by zooooooooooooming in and out! laugh.png
