I took a very open minded poke at the X-plane 10 demo today..First thing; I really liked the load menu (it sounds weird) but I was instantly captivated.... Then it started, the ATC blared through my speakers - You could turn the volume down but it was a nuisance every time... The FPS wasn't great, but I must say it was better than FSX 1.0's framerate initially... I actually really liked the graphics. Maybe more than FSX - But then I remembered how much older FSX is.. Then the GUI - A Turn off, but I know that anything different is initially a turn off - eg. When I try to play Lock On i'm always like "UH! it's not FSX!".. The controls were quite a pain, I still can't get the Hat switch to work how I want it to.I'm sure all this will take time to get used to and maybe make for an enjoyable experience, but let's just say I couldn't be happier to launch back into FSX and my dear NGX Love.gif

FSX has never been like driving on invisible rails. Invisible rails means ...........exactly what you'd see with a train track. The plane would follow the route with little input from the pilot.
Sure, you could focus on semantics and ignore my actual point.
An airplane doesn't have to be in constant movement in the different axis, or constant tail wagging to be realistic.
I never said it did, and regardless, the fact remains that if you want a more realistic experience out of FSX then it's mandatory for you to change the control settings since out of the box, the plane practically flies itself.I'm not saying that X-Plane is better in this regard since I agree that the default is too twitchy, but is too twitchy somehow worse than too stable? I guess it depends on who you ask.

I am puzzled about the fm model comments for xplane 10. I have felt the twitchy problem were overwhelming in past versions and was the primary version I always shelved past versions-but that seems to be the biggest improvement in 10. I didn't have to adjust any controls-nothing-stability finally seems to be here-and now I consider xplane to have the more pleasurable fm..

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

It still bothers me how XP would put the airports in it's code name, instead of it's actual names. I had trouble finding the airports I wanted to use.

Setting up the hat button is easy!Go to Buttons Basic. Hit the left hat button once. Then click the (General command: pan left) with your mouse. Your done with the left hat button. Hit the right hat button once. Then click the (General command: pan right) with your mouse. Do the same thing for the up and down buttons on your hat buttons.

I'm sure if the flight deck looks that good, the rest will be pretty good also. Work in progress, C'mon man.

Me neither. The only time I thought FSX was failing...............was a problem with the motherboard.L.Adamson

Count me in that club as well....never had a technical glitch from FSX that wasn't ultimately traced to my own hardware or software outside the sim.

Ya. we all know FSX never has CTD's caused by uiautomation.dll etc! Or I've never seen a post in regards to OOM's!
Both of which are problems caused by the operating system, not FSX itself...
