Xplane addon planes

Featured Replies

Ok, Im totally new to Xplane. I tried the demo and didnt like it at first but after following some of the tips and setting of others here, I have to say im starting to become impressed. Im seriously thinking of ordering it now, but wondered if the planes for Xplane 9 will work in 10. I suppose its too soon to tell since we are just playing with the demo right now. If ver 9 planes do work in 10, which planes would a veteren xplaner recommed? I like regional aircraft and heavy stuff, but im open to any sugestions.Rob

Welcome Rob! If u have a spare week, read all our reviews and interviews at our blog! There are many great quality addons available. They should all work with 10, or within weeks as devs tweak them. Javier's Crj-200 is a great regional. Give the freeware x737 a try, 2dcockpit but surprising how you forget. Nice flightmodel. An 148 free is bloody good. Almost anything from XAviation is good quality, Tom's MU, his falco, Gorans Duchess or Sundowner, really so many. Peter Hager's airbuses are amazing but only 2d pits I think. Freeware xpfr cap 21 mudry and their alphajet are compulsory.

Unfortunaltely the ones suggested to me either did not have a 3d cockpit or did not load, e.g. the latest I tried was the df400 180, when loading it tells me the wing something is out of date and when I click understood (Dont know why 'OK' is out ov favor here) the game CTD :(

Jason, I made the Duchess and Sundowner that Simon mentioned, and they should load in XP10 just fine. The only issues I have heard of is the autopilot acts funny.

Goran,Are there any plans on updating the Duchess for XPX?

I definitely intend on fixing any issues that might come up. I tried it last night for the first time, actually, and the autopilot, at least for me, works fine. So far, from what I have seen, only the AMPS gauge is not working and the lighting on the panel seems to have been slightly affected. Everything else looks to be good. Give me a week or 3 to see what doesn't work properly so I don't have to come out with a few different updates. I'd rather gather all the info first and then make one big update.

hmm ... sounds like it's using an older airfoil. Try opening up airfoil maker and run File > Batch Convert All Airfoils to the Latest Format

Thanks Carrot, that fixed it up for me. I jumped in that df400 and as soon as I put on throttle and looked at my speed going up fast I thought this was a peppy little plane, until I went to rotate and it wouldnt lift then realised I was looking at km/h not knots :)

Are you talking about the DR400-180 by XP France?I tried the same and received a message reconstruct the files in planemaker wich is absolutely no my speciality. Can you provide me with your "repaired files" for the DR400-180?I made some nice paints for the bird an really would like to fly her in XP10thanks in advanceLeenwww.flybike-paints.nl

It was the dr400-180. First I tried to be smart and open up the file directly from the aerofoil maker and it told me it was too old. Then when I followed Carrots instructions more to the letter it converted it ok. I had mine in the aircraft directory under general aviation and the batch convert did everything, including that one.

OK thanks, tried again and this time succesfull.I redid the normalmapping and made the textures in high resolution (mind the Sensenich logo at the prop-blades)Must say , XP10 is great with textures , really brilliant reproduction of the textures on the model.Who said "As real as it gets".................whahahahaha.RegardsLeen de JagerHere some shots:http://dl.dropbox.co...00507/breit.pnghttp://dl.dropbox.co...9900507/tim.png

HelloVery nice, is there any way to get rid of the guy in the right seat ?

I forgot to mention that little nugget when I recommended the plane....metric cockpit.Other payware GA/small aircraft that I quite enjoy flying within XP include the STMA PC-12/47 (apparently the cockpit is getting a much-needed facelift but its still a nice looking model overall with an excellent-feeling flight model and rather detailed procedural modelling), the STMA Husky (bush tail-dragger), and the really lovely Carenado Saratoga.I'm trying desperately to stay far away from anything jet-related as my interests don't really lie there. I do hear the payware Dash-8 is excellent and I am desperately awaiting the completion of the payware ATR72-500 which is about as large an aircraft as I care to fly. The Flight 1 ATR is my most flown VA aircraft and it will be a pleasure to have it in XP.And I would be willing to bet that Aerosoft will eventually get that FSX DH-6 Twin Otter (utterly awesome) ported over if somebody doesn't beat them to the punch.Just my suggestions. There are a lot of quality options in the XP payware department and plenty to look forward to.Also just as an FYI Tom Curtis mentions his scenery packages ( i.e Final Frontier/Inside Passage et al) should be compatible within XP10-and if not will get a patch out to users as things progress with the full retail version (bit in italics is my supposition as he did not specify a timeframe but he is very responsive-as are most Xp developer types).

Hopefully it was just the video . the aircraft interior looks a bit cartoonish.
