"Breathtaking" dosn't even do this justice, this Sim looks and sounds spectacular! This is what Simulator graphics is all about. :(

According to a German review, Aerofly FS is strictly VFR in daylight with fair weather. There's no ATC, no AI aircraft, no navigational aids, and some of the panel instruments are non-functional.It looks like a fun program, and the graphics are great (although some screenshots show flat buildings on the ground, a side effect of photo textures), but it's not going to pose a serious challenge to X-Plane or Flight. Here's the German review. I used Google Translate to read it:http://www.simflight...yfs-von-ikarus/

Are they talking about implementing it or do you know if 3RD party developers can do it?I'm asking because you CAN"T beat photoreal sceneries, you just can't (including autogen in it) this scenery is a lot more than XP-10, FSX or Flight will ever have.I'm with you Mountain Man on the fact that Aerofly FS is not a threat to XP-10 or Flight because of the missing elements BUT if they are talking about implementing what's missing.....I'm in.Breathtaking scenery........just is.

If they had to limit it to a single country, they couldn't possibly have chosen a more beautiful one for fair weather VFR flight... I wonder if they will expand it over time to include more features, larger geographic coverage, etc.?

I sure hope so.

I don't know. I'm just reporting what was stated in the review.

It does look very good. The problem with photo scenery, however, is when you move in close and can see just how flat everything is. The following screenshots were included in the review I referenced earlier.

Always a matter of choice-it may be flat but it is real. Some prefer real-I'm 50/50-I like both. Some care about seasons, some care about 1 real season. Some care about atc and autopilot's and some care about the fun of flying that probably got most of us started. Can't wait to get this sim-it looks like it brings the joy of flying out in a big way-and that is something!

Particularly at higher alt, the photo scenery can't be beat IMO, as long as it's done right. There are some programs out there that make photo scenery look real bad, and with some odd coloring. I think that MegaScenery has mastered the whole thing though. The photo scenery is very nice in this sim. Aside from that, the flight models look GREAT. I'm excited about this one.

I am more impressed with custom objects at the airport and lighting than I am with the scenery. wow. look at them flags flow in the wind.

+1 Agreed, that is cool.

Yep, the detail around the airport looks amazing. Imagine that all over the scenery. 3D autogen is better than sat. photos only when they have good textures. The defualt fsx houses for instance look way worse than photo scenery in my opinion.

I agree Geof! Looking at these videos I see that the visual (and seemingly physics) gaps between real-time sims and real world film footage continue to narrow. Here is an even better video of the Camel, with a deliberately ham-fisted pilot showing the sim physics to advantage. Makes me recall the days when we had the Camel in MSFS, only to be finally dropped but substituted in FS2004 by the Jenny. I had great fun with the Camel in earlier versions of MSFS followed by the Jenny in FS2004 and actually miss low and slow in wood, wire and fabric. Looks like we will be getting a double dose of it this year though! I guess both this and Flight will end up on my hard drive and I will be getting stick time in a Camel and Stearman. You are not going to know what to do with yourself with X-Plane as well...!

From what ive seen this looks like its got a ton of potential - IF the program is written to support third party software.Photoscenery + autogen near airports is the best solution for recreating reality imho. Good hires photosenery looks 3d from realistic flight altitudes. You'll never get mountains looking like that with landclass tiles because the texture on the ridges etc wont line up with the mesh.Photoscenery mainly suffers when you fly at unrealistically low altitudes. The videos on youtube look really smooth, better than the best i can get with fsx photoscenery on the lateral views paricularly.
