December 21, 201114 yr Author Commercial Member Again, you would have to be a baby or an alien to write a unbiased piece.WOW! What a statement!I wonder what the reviewers at PC Pilot or Computer Pilot or even the AVSIM reviewers would say about that statement? You've just stepped on a LOT of toes.
December 21, 201114 yr It all boils down to:XPX is a great sim...FSX is a great sim. XPX has some great strengths..FSX has some great strengths.Put yout big boy underwear on and get some real problems in life.... Edited December 21, 201114 yr by Like The Bank Removed insult
December 21, 201114 yr In the words of a famous person who read the words of a review about his performance- Sir I have your review in front of me and soon it will be behind me....let's lighten up folks-Happy Holidays! Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
December 21, 201114 yr folks can try ..but there has never been an unbiased reviewer in the history of reviewing. The question is whether or not they let that bias unfairly influence their review or if they're self-aware enough to keep it in check. If they're capable of the latter then we call it an unbiased review. It's not a hard concept.
December 21, 201114 yr So, guys that have used both sims. Were there any areas where this review was biased? Just curious as it was posted as the first 'professional' review of xplane and given chat in this thread I am reading it should be unbiased.
December 21, 201114 yr Removed a post or two and an insult, let's keep on track like Geofa recommended please. This thread still has positive potential especially since its regarding the first "professional" review of X-Plane. Still giving serious consideration to buying the sim! December 21, 201114 yr I am re posting because I probably did not phrase my question very well. This thread has considered some definitions of what would be a professional review. These definitions were not stated before the posting of this review so I am curious if that review now meets the definitions stated by a few people. Yes Goran, I guess you in particular ;)
December 21, 201114 yr So, guys that have used both sims. Were there any areas where this review was biased? Just curious as it was posted as the first 'professional' review of xplane and given chat in this thread I am reading it should be unbiased.I'd would never have infered that FSX is a "visual" game, while XP10 is a "scientific" simulator. I believe that visuals and flight dynamics are a 50/50 proposition. If FSX had arcade type flight dynamics, all these years..............I wouldn't be using it, such as I have.Personally, I couldn't stomach the flight dynamics of X-plane, all the way through version 8. I'd usually quit after 5 mins. With third party intervention, XP9 became much better, and 10 looks to have real promise. In the meantime, 3rd parties for FS9/FSX weren't just creating pretty visuals either. The author of this review, seems to have missed that fact.L.Adamson
December 21, 201114 yr As someone who spent my whole life being reviewed in public venues I can say the only real difference between "professional" and "non professional" is that one is being paid... Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
December 21, 201114 yr Geof, that is the usual definition for sure and it often doesn't mean one as is better than another. In fields I am involved with the ameteur often knows more than the professional as they are more enthusiastic. I am an ameteur telescope maker and I know my work is better than a lot of professionals. Professional and amateur don't make a lot of sense in this field either as there are so few 'professional' reviewers and so many more simmers with more experience.
