...that the HGS is awesome! :smileHi guys,as some of you might remember, I was about to start a rant after the NGX was released and I saw that feature of an HGS in an airliner. I thought that can´t be very heplful and it won´t make fun to fly with that fighter like thing.Well today I finally took the plnge and got my copy of the NGX! PMDG, you´ve made my speechless. I´ve never had and more enjoyabe flight in my wole career. It was just an little flight from Spokane to Fairchild Intl. to fresh up my 737 skills. The performance was great and I was soo impressed by the plane that i didn´t pay enough attetion to the ILS and forgot to set the right frequencies and had to abort the landing. The second one went strait in, no problems over all.btw. I allways used the HGS and it helped really in flying the final.

Best regards, Steffen

I told you guys the HGS was super useful back before we released - that flight path vector is the greatest thing ever for approaches. Crosswinds don't matter etc - just put it on the runway and you're going there.

Oh yes Ryan, I also really love it. The only reason why I sometimes don't use it is that with the time I'm getting bored by those simple approaches, although there are 30kt crosswind :PReally a great aircraft!

Greetings from the 737 flightdeck!

Same here. I've only used it twice to try it out because it almost makes me feel like I'm cheating.

Don´t get me wrong Ryan, I love the HGS. I just stopped using it altogether because I felt it was making me a dumber pilot. Now I wouldn´t dare try to trap on a carrier without a HUD, but if everyone else seems to nail 737 landings without that nice little fpv, then I should nail it as well!

Well, just did an night approach in Kelowna. There it´s very helpful. Very steep dsescent and overall bad weather. But I got it down. Maybe not that smooth but we´re back on the ground! :(

The HGS is a godsend during a go-around in poor visibility weather. Like some other users though, I land without the HUD most of the time to stay familiar with traditional landing procedures.

Took the words out of my mouth.. It's the cat's heiney for doing visual approaches.Just place the trend indicator on the landing spot, and everything clicks into place. You will stay on the ILS localizer, and glideslope pretty close, and makes it a breeze.I find it the most useful at night. I always use it for night visual approaches, andoften in the daytime also. But at night is when it really comes in handy for me.I made a video a week or two ago showing how this can be handy..This was running the 600 BBJ that I use, and I was going into Hot Springs Memorial."KHOT" I was on autopilot until I intercepted the localizer, and then I clicked everythingoff and went manual once I was lined up. You can see how I pull the trend indicatorover to the runway a tad from the left.. At the end, I was a tad high, but no biggie..When using that, you want to use real minor control inputs.. Almost "fingertip"flying.. :) This video is pretty compressed, but is 720p of you go full screen..http://imageshack.us/clip/my-videos/703/4l1.mp4/

It was the clincher for me, one of the main reasons I purchased.Use it on every approach, but must take the time to land without to keep my hand in.I hope when PMDG do the Dash, they include a HUD.Does the 777 have a HUD option?

Used it just a few times and it is awesome indeed. Great, I mean GREAT work. But the airline I prefer to fly with does not have it installed so I do not use it anymore for the sake of realism. :)Doruk

I hear someone else makes the dash 8 majestic or something anyone rate it?

ill be honest ive tried using my other payware addons(jetliners) and nothing seems as good as the ngx. it is like taking a step back in time. now all that i am flying is the ngx because nothing else really compares there just not as good

It's supposed to be very good indeed, and they have a Q400 on the way too.I know someone involved in the project but he's very tight lipped for obvious reasons, NDA and all that.PMDG have just made the best add-on ever, so their Dash is sure to be the bees knees.I believe Delta have HUD's now on their 777's, so I'm hoping PMDG will do likewise and give us the option for their 777 add-on.The Enhanced Vision System is also available now for the 777. May be a stretch for the sim though. Don't think anyone has yet achieved that.

the HGS is awsome, yes it does sometime feel like cheating but seeing how real world pilots use them its really not =)On a Scanidavian DVD I have the pilot says he uses it when ever its fitted but some pilots only use it when they have to. I personaly think all modern passenger aircraft should have them as they put all the info the pilot needs right infront of him. The only Heads up system ive seen that comes close to the quality of the NGX HGS and thats the DCS A-10c. The VRS Superbug comes close 3rd.Just my 2 cents
