I wonder why Aerosoft is not going to do anything with P3D?
Eric, They are. The Bronco they just released for FSX is now available for PrePar3D along with a few airports. My guess is there is more in the pipeline.

Oh, good. FSDT is as well. Just need Flightbeam, Fly Tampa and Imaginesim and we are all set.

I'm not a developer, so I don't know how much additional work is involved in porting addons from FSX to PrePar3D, but if PrePar3D pans out to be FSXI then I think you'll see most developers jump on the bandwagon.

They will change the title from AFS 2012 to AFS 2015, they seems to have a problem finding a game engine.

Not so much a problem as well as that we are picky and not in a hurry. We are betting a lot on X-Plane 10, are pretty happy with FSX and Prepar3D (we will release one add-on for Prepar3D a week for a while). We're also interested in the new Ikarus sim (amazing how much that looks in concept as FLIGHT btw). So there is a lot of to consider. In the end we'll go where the customers are of course. We think our customers like to fly from Heathrow to Frankfurt in the NGX or find out how the engines in the Bronco X work. And we don't think FLIGHT will do that very well. So that more or less says it all. If MS uses it's own shop it will be very hard to make any serious add-ons for FLIGHT though. Financially it just makes no sense for us.I think we should just see it as it is. FLIGHT is a game with good simulator related features. It has little or nothing to do with flight simulation as we understand it. Doesn't make it good or bad, just different. Actually I predicted that FSX would be like FLIGHT is now. MS has little interest in the niche market we all created.

Mathijs,We both know P3D is a temporary beta for LM. When they get the software to military standards, they'll pull the plug.

That is funny because I get the feeling the (hardcore) customers are waiting to see where the developers go... I guess someone will have to make the first move.

At this point in time it looks like that direction won't be towards Microsoft Flight.

I hope you aren't betting too much on XP10. I cant see it becoming any more popular than XP9 was.

If LM update the program to 'military standards' and it updates what we know as FSX to a version that performs better, looks better and adds more features, who cares? As long as I can have the program installed on my HD with a permanent licence, I have lost nothing, only gained a better version of FSX.The aggression and tone from XP fans seems to verge on the extreme around here lately.............

He's basically telling you where they are going."We are betting a lot on X-Plane 10, are pretty happy with FSX and Prepar3D." Basically, they'll look at all the simulators available at present, except Flight.

Obviously... it just sucks being in limbo again, when most of us were under the impression that this would be the year of great Flight Simulations returning.

The bottom line is that most MSFS users (IMHO) have no intention of going to XP. period. They are far more likely to stick with FSX or, if affordable move to P3D.Thats the way I am leaning. If even 50% of the MSFS users on this website feel the same, XP has no long term future for growth.

Is this why they have a monthly license?

Mike Mann

only problem with P3D is MS put a lot of constraints on how they can sell and market it.
My gut tells me that those constraints are going to only get tighter if Microsoft sees Prepar3D as a threat to Flight. Lockheed Martin has so far gotten away with selling directly to consumers which is forbidden by their licensing agreement, so it probably won't be long for Microsoft to start tightening the screws.

What aggression and tone are you talking about? Do we need to put smileys at the end of every sentence? You're the ones who bring XPX up in these forums, get a grip!
