Nah, how were we to know at the time, it's only in hindsight you can look back and see he wasn't trolling. Kind of funny. Kind of sad.

In all fairness, when someone comes along and shatters our illusions, which were fed by Microsoft and by our own (sometimes misguided) speculations, I am not suprised we reacted as we did. A lone voice in the wilderness and we choose to ingnore it. How many times has that happened in the history of the world. Yes ' Feed The Troll' I am squirming all over my keyboard in embarrassment. Not one of our greatest moments.

"When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return."

This is something I posted on another forum back in november after they announced it only required 10gigs.

My take on it is that it is going to be a scaled down flight sim. I mean why is it not called Flight Sim 2012? (or even 11) Some game companies are doing this. Insted of putting alot of time and money into a new version they make a scaled down updated version (hence why it looks so much like FSX) and sell it for half price. Its the times. :( I could see it being Hawaii only with say 5 or 6 planes' date=' lots of missions and selling for $30.[/quote']Guess I ws wrong... It's free with less aircraft. :(

This is so telling... :( Many have been attacked on these forums with legitimate information and/or views for years and rarely have had any redemption and/or vindication. The FSX fiasco upon it's release was a great example but because people clung to it with all hope and hardware caught up over the years it has since become a non issue. You guys can't cling to Flight, there's no denying it's crap and no hardware advancements over the years to cover for it. No display settings is going to change what it is and if it's closed to third party development it has no future. I still think Aces could have done a better job with FSX and in turn maybe today they'd still be around and 'FLIGHT' would be 'Flight Simulator 2012' (remember the line "Aces didn't close because of lack of sale" there's no way to prove or disprove that statement but it's aparent M$ is after sales and the old way of doing things wasn't working. Think of all the attacks that have come down over the years if anyone merely suggested FSX was the cause of Aces downfall. Now it's a moot point as FSX is officially the golden child). Now even myself in hindsight is praising FSX over this latest incarnation (we all are on the FSX bandwagon seeing where Flight is at). This is the first time I've seen someone go back and pull a recorded record of people's foolishness. To blindly drink Microsoft's Coolaide has been a problem with some in this community for quite some time. I'm happy to see mess like this exposed and hope more is found. Maybe we'll learn something from this and look objectively at all the facts before shooting people down and labeling them as trolls. :(

Just as it was, many years ago..............I still don't agree with your assement of FSX, and the fact, you've stuck mostly with FS9. I found that I much preferred FSX on the first day of upgrading my computer. It was far from being a fisco. I said it then, will say it now, and haven't changed my mind. FSX only gets better with time! Still have FS9 installed, though. It has it's good points.

maybe anondev was one of the devs hired to work on the SDK ( remember when MS was looking to fill those positions) and then was let go all of a sudden when the coroprate morons decided that there is this huge market for MS pilotwings

Not a fiasco ehh, I wonder why someone would waste so much time back then on great satire as this if that wasn't the case.http://forum.avsim.n...-remember-past/

If you have a minute, go back and read through the thread to see what the reaction was then.Pretty hilarious! You would need at least two dozen eggs to pass around to those who need some thrown in their face. :(

Lol, wow i remember that thread and his story seemed so far fetch, but I apologize for doubting.
I think i read every flight thread prior to release. Lots of strong opinions at the time. Not many 'sorry i doubted you' replies post (but good to see them!). Most from the 'stop trolling about it being just hawaii' camp seem to have just....disappeared :)

I'm right here. What can I do for you? I wonder what would have happened if Flight had turned out to be a full fledged sim. Probably the same 'look, we we're right attitude', but then the other way around...

Wow, people were ready to lynch this guy yet he was DEAD ON! Amazing!
They were ready to lynch him because they didn't want to believe it, and yet a little voice in the back of their heads was telling them that he was right.

I didn't hear that little voice, but I feared his statements were true... To detailed to be made up.
