How long would we wait until MS puts new landscapes on FLIGHT?

Featured Replies

How long do you guys think we will wait until we get the entire U.S.A. and big jets like the a380 or the 747?

Never. It has already been documented that Flight will focus on specific areas of the world. So for now they have parts of Hawaii, and will maybe add someplace like the Alps or Grand Canyon and so on... Furthermore, no third party development...

Paying for planes and scenery which is on par with the default FSX planes and scenery does not strike me as being too enjoyable. Maybe this is why they are making up for the blandness with X-box style achievements? But as for when they'll provide more DLC? I don't know but I imagine they would want to milk this title for as long as they can.

I don't think the Hawaii scenery is on par with default FSX scenery...And I'd be surprised if they won't have quite a load of DLC ready by the time MS Flight will be released. If they wait with the first DLC until a few months after the release, they will be out of business already. I guess that in the beginning there will be frequent releases of various dlc to let the new customers get used to how it works and what they can expect. I wouldn't count on the complete USA being ready as dlc though... if ever.

If there were 50 people working on Flight, I'd bet that 40 of them were artists and mission designers. So there ought to be a fair amount of DLC ready for purchase on day one. The question is what kind of DLC these are going to be and at what price.

Like said never. Flyawaysimulations article says clearly that this time Flight devs do not want to model whole world, but only small, probably nice looking parts, and do not model other areas at all, so its pretty sure that we will never get like full continents. It also said that they are planning to model some big jets, when they are released go ahead and pay for FSX 747-400 v2.

Confirmed so far is that more (all?) of Hawaii will be available on or just after release. Since we've seen screenshots of the P-51, Maule M-7 and Vans RV-7 and they're not mentioned as being part of the base pack I assume those will be offered as DLC on day of release as well.'No third party development' is not quite true. What we know at the moment is that several 3rd party developers rejected the terms Microsoft offered / demanded to allow DLC development for Flight. Whether Microsoft might reconsider those terms in future, or whether some developers have perhaps agreed we don't know.

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon and H.A.W.X.S put the graphics in FLIGHT to shame, and blowing stuff up is a lot more appealing than collecting sky coins. At least those guys still stick to some semblance of reality -- FLIGHT is all but missing those fuzzy pink trees from Dr. Seuss.

Hm, I just thought that not creating the entire world and all airports does NOT have to mean you can't fly over the entire globe... You would expect being able (after some time) to fly from one detailed scenery to another somehow... Maybe the scenery in between won't be any good but you never know... Maybe it simply doesn't have any airports out there, but when you fly high you could do with very basic textures... I did read somewhere that they still used a globe to put their stuff on.Just guessing and speculating. :(

*btw, when using the term 'game' it is an umbrella term, it also includes simulation and racing games, and everything in-between. Do not twist my words.

"A video game is an electronic form of play that involves interaction with a user interface to generate visual feedback on a video device" - the definition of the word "videogame", game is the common shorthand for videogame. Just being clear.

The limitation is fuel. Without a place to refuel you can only fly so far before you fall out of the sky!

Hmm, you forget you can set "Unlimited Fuel" in Realism option menu...

I don't think so.

You will probably pay for gas too! :(
