Flight Video from CES

Neither Flight nor XPlane X (from what I have seen so far) will dethrone the champ in the near future. Which is a real pity, because the champ is getting old and dated, but it's a reality.
FSX runs pretty good on recent hardware. Plus if you add some nice scenery it looks beautiful. Least for me. FSX's kind of graphics don't look like Crysis. Good FSX graphics means things like high-resolution satellite imagery and photorealistic clouds, which we have.

Nowhere is a hint that this game will evolve to a flight sim, covering the world in a way that you could fly from A to B. Nowhere is a hint that there will be ATC or real world weather, AI traffic
There are hints if you look carefully. The Stearman and A5 have radios with clickable tuner knobs and display frequencies in certain missions. A hint that there may be ATC added in the future. There are achievements you can earn for carrying more than 10,000 passengers a certain distance, exceeding an altitude of 60,000 feet, and going supersonic. That's going to be tough to do in the A5. Hints that there will be airliners, other jets, and worldwide flight. They can add anything they want to Flight, especially since its built from FSX. Of course you angrily demand everything from this game up front, forgetting that Microsoft owes you nothing and has the right to develop whatever they want to try and be profitable. They don't have to bend over backwards for the niche market of whiney, uber geeks, while suffering losses at the same time.

We are on a roll now in the USA. A Socialist President, battery powered cars that self ignite in the middle of the night and now and arcade game that simulates a flight simulator that simulates flight.I can't wait to what happens on December 23rd. Even I am starting to believe that the Mayans were on to something!!!

Well, After watching the vid I can see why MS Flighty dropped the slogan "As Real as it Gets!" :(

Intel i9-12900KF, Asus Prime Z690-A MB, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, (3) SK hynix M.2 SSD (2TB ea.), 16TB Seagate HDD, Gigabyte GeForce 5080 RTX, Corsair iCUE H70i AIO Liquid Cooler, UHD/Blu-ray Player/Burner (still have lots of CDs, DVDs!)  Windows 10, (hold off for now on Win11),  EVGA 1300W PSU
Netgear 1Gbps modem & router, (3) 27" 1440 wrap-around displays
Full array of Bravo, Saitek and GoFlight hardware for the cockpit. Varjo and HP VR headsets for mixed reality.

There's another one. Look in the related vids on youtube
Yep, thanks, I've see it. But er... it didn't make me too happy. Looked very low res (ground textures) and really afwul clouds. The autogen buildings didn't impress me either. I liked the dark video more, I think... :(

Yes sir Skip, and as you state, there is solid programming evidence of locked AI traffic, GA traffic, accurate ATC frequencies and features that are new that we have not figured out what they mean yet. Insofar as flight dynamics and weather, it is much better than FSX with the best of addons (I know, because I have only flown that way for years). Insofar as developing for the whole world, many that fell in love with flying in ultra developed regions like what ORBX has produced have already soured to the idea of flying in default areas of the world, no matter how many thousands of airports are there. If FLIGHT has highly developed regions to fly in with quality GA aircraft and advanced airliners to fly between them, and the support systems needed for each, that will meet most of what I am looking for in a new sim. It seems to me that all that will be present in due course, sooner rather than later at a cost that is a fraction of what it costs to have the same in FS9 or FSX.Kind regards,

Then you can buy M$ quality addons such as small regions and planes for it.
Correct. But also jets with a lot of free fuel + major content packs that contain new geography + great add-ons from 3rd party developers.
but don't forget that there will be *NO* 3rd party SDK, and that is the real killer here.
There will be SDK. :(

Good hints. :(

I hope to have to eat these words but for me it's "Pensacola towerFanboy 01 ready for takeoff request PrePar3D1departure.

Thanks Sam, I too spend most evenings flying online. I won't be abandoning both FSX or P3D anytime soon, as there is not much more satisfying than taking a glance out the side window and seeing a lite-up city receeding into a REX generated sunset! FSX is just about as satisfying an experience as anyone could hope for or imagine. It is indeed hard to see how anything could be much better, so FLIGHT does have a lot to prove. What I see in FLIGHT is a chance to do just that, but as you indicate, it is just a chance at this point, but I think a good one. Meanwhile, "Ground Control this is Spirit Flyer One Heavy requesting clearance and instructions to taxi from gate 24b to active runway."Kind regards,

I like that video, and I like the changes that I like, and I don't like the changes that I don't like! it looks a bit like a vanilla first-released FSX with a graphics addon package - but then perhaps that's all Flight is for now, who knows? Not me, that's for sure
Microsoft has told: - "The base is still a globe, it’s just that there is not enough geography yet. But they would rather launch now and not have everything than wait and let the product age. This also helps keep the download size down."Would you not prefer to see the baby grow - instead of meeting the final adult? That will be a part of the "game".... :(

So will there be an SDK????
