January 26, 201214 yr I have, used it on the PMDG 2004 737 and it was fine. But the one that comes with the NGX is IMHO superior. Jerry Sterner
January 26, 201214 yr Why would one want to use a soundset other than the original PMDG one with the NGX? The sounds are perfect! No butt kissing here. The are really good. Edited January 26, 201214 yr by barfra1995 Matheus Mafra

I hate to be blunt but I have been on plenty of 737's over the years. I think the default 737NGX sounds are nice but the TSS 737 sounds are by FAR the most realistic soundpack for the 737 available. The mid N1 setting sounds in the TSS are *far* more realistic sounding IMO. Full power also sounds much more realistic and not so "game-y".I am a total sound freak and when sounds aren't *perfect* you can expect me to complain.

Of those 737's how many of those did you get to ride in the cockpit? As we all know the sound changes in different parts of the plane. The PMDG sound set is based on sitting in the cockpit and since the cabin is not modeled the sound from the passenger cabin is probably off. I know the way that a CFM56-7B26 engine sounds like. :smile:Regardless of where you are in the plane, the engine still maintians it's pure sound. Just because you are in the cockpit doesn't mean that the engine is going to sound radically different. The NGX soundpack is good but the spool up sounds around 40-60 percent N1 don't even sound like a CFM to me..... It sounds to artificial to me and I feel that the TSS does a much better job of simulating this feature. Edited January 26, 201214 yr by benorg
January 26, 201214 yr Considering it's a brand new engine sound set it might worth a try.The video could not convince me though, to give it a go on my credit card. The gear up sound is missing rather worse than the PMDG, the max thrust is not very convincing and in general everything sounds like being recorded in a tunnel.. January 26, 201214 yr Here is a link to Cockpit Builders, where our resident "Real" pilot recorded with his cell phone what it sounds like in the cockpit. Mind you this is a cell phone, but it relates what it sounds like inconjunction with what the pilot states about the sounds. Please see the first posting at the top of the page...http://www.cockpitbuilders.com/community/index.php?topic=2004.msg15344#msg15344John

I don't own this soundset yet so I can't say but from what I hear in the video, the engines do sound less "video game like". PMDG did a great job with their sound but ya know that feeling when you hear something and you're like: that's it!! That's the 737!!! I think I will buy this set and hopefully it will be good! :D Orlando
January 26, 201214 yr I have a few of the TSS sounds and to be honest im happy with the PMDG one. Guys this sound pack we get with the NGX is as real as yu'll ever get it. Even the APU is accurate..
January 26, 201214 yr I'm never gonna change the default sounds. People saying how different it sounds obviously have no knowledge at all about how jet engines work. They sound different depending on where you are relative to the engine. If you are at the back, you will not hear any spool up or whine, or roar sounds at all. The more you are in front, the more spool up, whine, and roar sounds you will hear. If you are in the cockpit, you'll hear something really different than what the passengers (even in front of the plane) might hear. The pilots will hear a lot more spool up and roar sounds than the passengers, because they sit in the front of the plane. Here's a video example, sounds really similar to the NGX imo. January 26, 201214 yr Guys, I have a full size home cockpit and used TSS before the new PMDG 737NGX came out. I was using TSS with the ported in version of the old PMDG 737 with FSX. TSS did sound good! However, the new PMDG 737NGX sounds more like what the pilot recorded on his cell phone, not in quality, but the idea of what you hear. So, sitting in my full size cockpit with surround sound, two sub-woofers under the platform it sets on and using a Butt-Kicker attached to real IPECO seats, the new PMDG 737NGX wins out over TSS.Do you know that bump-bump sound you hear when the nose gear comes up. Well, it's meant to be felt under you and not really heard (low range only really). So, that is a whole another point, if you're discussing sitting at a desktop and using desktop speakers, the sound can be radically different from a full size version, as well as one computer desktop setup to the next. Thus, when you decide to try the TSS Sounds, which are good, you will likely come back to PMDG 737NGX Sounds in the long run. Funny, you can spend a lot of time worrying about the sounds and in the end, you realize that when they're good, you almost forget about them because you're doing so many other things like flying the plane. Although, when the sounds are bad, you just can't get that out of your head and you go crazy trying to make them great, but forgetful...John
