Disrespectful to ACES?

Featured Replies

I see growing support in favor for "Flight" by the community. I know business is business, but does anyone else feel like embracing a product by a new team that was put together as the result of the ACES team being thrown out like trash at MS not feel like it's a betrayal?? The ACES team fell on a sword for it's fan repeatedly because they sought to implement all our of requests and features-- which caused a rift with management.

Hellowhere are you seeing this "growing support",There is Fred and Stephen, even Arwen seems to be wavering a bit today

There is only like five people on the planet that actually like flight, so don't worry this will all be over soon.

There are X-ACES people working on FLIGHT.FSX might have tried to do too many things at once and. A more incremental approach might have had better success.

I guess you guys haven't read all the posts from people who love the idea of having to spend $20 to get some additional islands and planes because that is all they use now. Those people are loving the idea.

If Flight fails the chances of Microsoft releasing funds to develop any other version are non-existent.People tend to forget that Microsoft stopped developing FS11 a few years ago because it decided it wasn't worthwhile. All a Flight failure would achieve would be to convince Microsoft that there's no future in flight games, so it would concentrate its development effort on other games.

Agreed but I'd like to see those increments before I throw xbox funny money into a closed system with no perspective other than complete Hawaii and an aircraft w/o cockpit. But I know I am repeating myself...

Hold on now, I am still a wait and see, really liking certain advanced aspects of FLIGHT, and expecting it to develop along certain lines. There is enormous potential here for great things. However, if it does not develop along that stream as projected, don't count me in as a supporter! However, I think that unlikely, as it will follow the money, and the money will be in multiple revenue streams, including the wide river that we like to swim in.Kind regards,
it will follow the money
I agree but in my case I see a contradiction as they will not see my money exept few bucks for starters unless I see where the river goes. so for me no river no money. and if that applies vice versa then it means no money and thus no river. I can just hope that the target audience throws in enough money to keep the river running until I am willing to jump in

And if flight is a success the same folks at MS will say see people don't want a serious sim, they want to fly around collecting gold coins and doing missions, IMHO MS is done with the simulator portion forever.

You're probably right, because corporate managers will never admit that the development strategy for FLIGHT was wrong - if it fails. Management 101: Take creadit for the work of others, never put your stamp on anything before it is a definite success, and if you are trapped, lie lie lie and blame everybody else!Eastman-Kodak is a prime example of corporate greed and ignorance. They practically invented the digital camera but failed to listen to both their customers and junior employees. Customers wanted digital - not film - but corporate management ignored all the signals and invented their own reality. Lets hope MIcrosoft is smarter than that.Flight Simulators have sold millions and will continue to sell millions, but it doesn't sell itself. Microsoft seems unwilling to invest much in flight sim development and agressive marketing. They have the brand but not the brains to use it. So instead they create FLIGHT for nothing and try to get kids hooked on collecting addons and pilot experience points to make an easy buck. What they should have done is be top dog and show the world how to make the most immersive and real flying experience.

I was referring to FSX, not FLIGHT!

A friend of mine just emailed and reminded me that several years ago one of the search engines....I think it was google released a program that you could fly over their map using your mouse. Difference was it modeled the whole earth!! Looks like MS may have stolen the idea and technology and dumbed it down. Could be the next great law suite!! Disrespectful....I don't really think so. :( :(

LOL, I mean growing from a couple to a few people.

I'm just really annoyed at MS, by the way beta testers were blind-sided by yesterday's news.I still love Flight, because it does do some things better than any other flightsim that I have used (don't ask, as I will not post anything more specific yet).I am concerned about the DLC pricing, because if the DLC doesn't sell well, Flight is virtually dead in the water. And I do want it to succeed. My opinion is that Flight is a really GOOD flightsim (even at its current state), that has been marketed EXTREMELY poorly. There are members of the Aces Team that are part of the Flight Team, so if you boycott Flight just to make a point, you're also hurting part of the team that you're trying to stand up for.Flight definitely has the potential to replace FSX . . . IF the Team is allowed to take Flight to that level.

It's irelevant what they admit. You forget that the Flight management are not at the top of the corporate pecking order. Having worked for large international companies, I can assure you that more senior management would want to know why should it fail and heads might well roll.
Flight Simulators have sold millions and will continue to sell millions,
Other games have sold in tens of millions. But it's not about sales. it's about return on investment. If Microsoft thinks it will get a better return on other types of games those are what it will invest it.
