February 10, 201214 yr I have "override application settings" and 8X selected in Nvidia control panel, but I still have to have AA checked in FSX.Normal? Bud Estrada
February 10, 201214 yr No indeed. If you HAVE to check it, that means you are seeing FSX FSAA. 1. What driver are you using and 2. give nVidia Inspector a try instead.
February 10, 201214 yr Author Installed and setup nvidia inspector, all is well now. Thank you! Edited February 10, 201214 yr by bud7h7 Bud Estrada

I have always left it checked . . .Noel Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. February 11, 201214 yr If the Inspector choice is "Override application settings", then the application settings will be overridden. The is no 'upside' or 'downside'. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
February 11, 201214 yr However, leaving the option unchecked in FSX is a good way too check if you are actually getting FSAA through the driver!
February 11, 201214 yr No added workload for the cpu when checked? PierreP3D when its freezing in Quebec....well, that's most of the time...C-GDXL based at CYQB for real flying when its warming up...
February 11, 201214 yr Depends..AA in FS tells the driver exactly where to AA and where not. So no power wasted in AA on where it isnt needed. When you override, everything gets a treatment, but is wastefull. Unless you have the power.Suggested is enhance the setting, as this is also in the tuners help.
February 11, 201214 yr I agree with Johan, IMHO the override the application should not be used it gives unpredictable results as it is so universal.Even nvidia are thinking of removing it from the nvidia cp.It is the one area that I disagree with many on this forum but the "enhance" IMO is a much better option in terms of results and resource use.The AF/AA system in FSX is reasonably good and it is an integral part of FSX, overriding it just doesn't make any sense to me.RegardsPeterH
February 11, 201214 yr Interesting approach, i will explore this enhanced setting.... PierreP3D when its freezing in Quebec....well, that's most of the time...C-GDXL based at CYQB for real flying when its warming up...
February 12, 201214 yr I've tried both, and can find absolutely no difference, except for the fact that using FSX AA + "Enhance"does not provide AA in the windowed view, which for me hardly matters since I fly in full screen mode.I see no performance degradation when using "Override", so I'm not sure what the downside might be..So - try it and pick what works for you.. :( Bert
February 12, 201214 yr Hmm I too use the " override" option in Nvidia Inspector, with AA off within FSX.May have to experiment a little with the "enhance" option with AA enable in FSX just to compare.Amazing how so many different combinations/options we can choose to configure FSX. February 12, 201214 yr Author I went back to checking the FSX AA box and not using inspector at all. When I tried it, I got horrendous stutters, mouse lag and framerate spikes. I'll do more experimenting once I upgrade my GPU and PSU in a couple days. Edited February 12, 201214 yr by bud7h7 Bud Estrada
February 12, 201214 yr Well, I have never, ever, had 30 fps constant at AS EDDF until I read this thread. I also use to get bad shimmering on the NGX overhead (3D) and now that looks fantastic.I am using NV insp with locked frame rate @30,and unlimited in FSX, using the 275.33 drivers (the best imho) and with MTX/UT2 ai traffic at full blast, the airport is chocker.and 30 fps has always been unachievable, especially at mega airports like Frankfurt and Paris.Setting the AA/AF in FSX has almost removed any shimmers I had, so I am well pleased. Just did a test flight and smooth all the way.
