Why Do You Love FSX ?

Featured Replies

Hi i just want to share my experience in FSX an the way i see it. Well we all know fsx is not just a simple game . It is a game with out no limits . What i mean when i say no limits . I mean that you can go any place in the world experience the scenery . An well if you have a great amazing graphic card well you in for a treat . Its amazing the way it looks. I myself enjoy it very well. What i like about it to that you don't have these invisible wall that don't let you get to one place to another like those other video games has for ps3 xbox360 etc.... Also FSX it is game that never gets old thanks to people like wilco , pmdg,flight1,justflight,CLS an all those simviation shops that sell add on. They just keep on coming with great add on that gets our attention. I really have to say that i have stop playing ps3 an started learning more an more about aviation even on this flight simulator . I always wanted to become a pilot but i was always saying to myself all those switches in an aircraft just to get it started. I won't be able to remember all that . But what i didn't really know they have a checklist. Also what you get to experience when landing an takeoff its amazing. Do anyone here thinks that real airliner pilots really play this game ? Or even pilots that are be train do they use this game in some way for Training, i know its difference from a real simulator but it has a lot of things that both relates to.So please share your experience about FSX. Tell me how do you guys see it. Most people some time said wawo i can't wait for the next fsx to come out . But we all know there is no need for releasing a new FSX . Maybe just SP3 for fsx that will allow directx 11 or something. But there is no need for a new release .Because when you have people like wilco, pmdg, captainsim, justflight,CLS, etc........... They will always create something new that will just impact fsx every time. Also all these forum that you find for fsx all these kind people that when you ask a question they help you out anyway they can. It is like big a family here in AVSIM that everyone support one another. I really can say am proud to be in the AVSIM family an learning from each an everyone of you guys experience. Again share your experience if you like . I want to here great things that you have experience in FSX great scenery, great places you travel.

I just love the fact that i can have the closest experience to real world with the cracking addons we have today....NGX, AS2012, detailed scenerys and all those other addons that make FSX so immersive.Theres always something to learn too, wether a new plane or a new airport addon approach...it all keeps me coming back for more!I love this hobby and i always will!As for the Avsim family...I love them too!!! :(

I love FSX because it takes me places I wont ever go in real life. It is an escape from reality. I also love the educational element. I will find a place on the google earth globe and read about it on wikipedia and then go fly there.I learn about new places in the world, I learn about aircraft systems and operations and I have fun doing it all. I am a bit worried that I have an addiction. Not to long ago the power went out in my area, I was going crazy. ! It is somewhat disconcerting to know my hobby requires electricity, and without it I would just be sitting in a chair instead of the aforementioned reasons I love it ! :(

She sure does! :)I have traveled and learned a lot about the world after getting FSX. The ESP engine is a work of art coupled with all the amazing scenery on offer. The aircraft are fun too, but those were allready good in FS2004, and there is still no turboprop that beats the Aeroworx King Air 200.

Wow thanks guys for sharing your experience . An yea it is kind of an addiction but it is great to see the world from FSX. It really is fun . It has a lot of fiction but also lots of reality an things to know when it comes to flying.

Why? Because it saves me from having to go buy a $300,000 Cirrus SR-20 and a matching divorce lawyer! Big%20Grin.gif

I like it the most because it's very cheap compared to real flying. I intend to get back into real flying this spring but running the numbers it's about $500/month to fly an old 172 rental for about 5hrs/month - and I hope I can stay "competent" with those few hours. Using FSX I can prefly all my routes, and do E6B calculations on the go and all my preflight stuff online... essentially I can preview the entire flight using FSX - it's quite amazing!

Why is FSX so great? Well, as a private pilot with a couple of little kids now, I don't get to do much real world flying. As an aircraft renter, I spend about $125 per hour to fly my favorite GA aircraft, the Piper Warrior. That's a lot of cash these days, but will also buy me three or maybe four top notch FSX addons. so the way I see it, if I do less real world flying, I can justify spending more on flight sim. Since I have flown Pipers and Cessnas for 11 years now, I fly 100% heavy metal in the sim. Why? Because I know that at best I may one day get an instrument rating, but will never get to get into the cockpit of a real commercial airliner. The immersion factor is so high these days, it real does seem like a good substitute, and it really never gets boring. I sometimes wonder what exactly I would do each night while my wife watches annoying TV shows, one after another. This time of year I split my time between watching hockey and simming. The beauty of the flight sim world is that every day, there is something new coming out, or something new to look forward to. As was said earlier, there really are no boundaries. And one last, but not least, very important point that makes flight sim so great....no where else can I enjoy the better part of a six pack and fly a plane at the same time!Cheers, Pete

Here is my take ....I only got into FSX about a year ago and I am regretting that I did not do it mych earlier. As a piece of software with all that it has to offer, it really is incredible.I have been a fan of strictly military aircraft since I was a youn boy. However after getting into FSX and meeting a fellow simmer at work towards the end of last year, I have developed a huge interest and respect for commercial airliners and even small GA aircraft. I actually love flying the big jetc and have learned so much about the procedures, systems and the way commercial aviation operates. It is great being able to tell other people (non simmers) about what that instrument does or what happens during the takeoff or what those noises are that we all hear during a flight. This all came from FSX. An amazing program, made also more amazing by thy numerous software and hardware add ons.

I agree which each an everyone of you guys experience. I have to say i had fsx from since it came out . But i had a laptop with a really bad graphic card at that time . I install fsx on it an since i saw it look so horrible i was like aww what the heck this doesn't have good graphic . But when a year past i started to see this amazing video . So i wonder why doesn't my fsx looks like that if my computer is highly expensive . Well i my friend told me just cuz your laptop is highly expensive that does not mean that fsx will look like that . So i said to myself ok . So as i watch these video i started to ask . I first bought this dell desktop just for fsx . But at that time it didn't had the graphic card i wanted. But i was satisfied better than the laptop i first try fsx on. So this year my girlfriend give me a treat . She told me pick any desktop you want with any part you want at this website magicmicro.com. So i was like are you sure. An she said yes . So i started to ask in forum what is the spec for a great fsx computer. I receive many comment an suggestion . So i both the two powerful card that there is for fsx GTX 580 an The Latest ATI Card . I wanted to test them both . I Also put 4,000 gb of hard drive an one external once just to keep my payware safe. I Added 32 GB ram memory. An Sandy Bridge I7. I have 4 fans install . An this liquid cooling thing that once the air from the fan hit the liquid is like when you take minty gum an then drink water, its cold no matter if the water is warm. So i this pc cause me over 5,300 dollars because i also added extra parts to it . Like the two best graphic card . An External Hardrive to it.But other than that i have to say i was shock when i saw the graphic i was oh my god i had this game all the time with out knowing all about it . That is when aviation came to mind for me . I left from playing PS3 to flying planes . What a change right . A game with out no boundary. Where you can fly any where an the best thing is that if its raining right now where am at . It is also raining on the simulation that what got my heart beat going fast haha lol. An what can i say about rex the best. Those clouds wawo everything about it . What about the sun set OMG that where i just stop an look all around . I hope they never stop making add on for fsx . I know for a fact that if the make a fsx for video game system like ps3 an xbox . It will not be the same an it would be less realistic. HAPPY MODE Cheers Everyone

It really is a remarkable piece of software.I love it because it lets me relive flights I've been on in real life going back to when I was a kid. I always wondered how they did things like navigation, landing in clouds and fog, etc. Now I not only know how they do it, I get to do it myself! I've flown hundreds of passenger airliner flights, and they are all thrilling. The FSX world is not exactly like the real one, but it comes pretty close sometimes, and it is always beautiful.
