February 27, 201214 yr Thanks Greg,It looks as good as anything I have seen, I think, especially if it can render in 3D. Unfortunately I can not read or write in French, wish I could since I am a Canadien, so I don't know what it says. How large an area is it, and do they intend to strike outside of France? How much? etc.Kind regards, It covers 4,756 sq mi (12,317 km2) and includes a LOD 13 mesh, 1m (or less) 1 season photoscenery for a total download size of 5 GB. The price is 39.90 €. February 27, 201214 yr Looks good to me. It's a bit like the Orbx addon airports outside of the actual airport, which is also photoreal with 3D obejcts, autogen etc. and 1 m pixel scenery. However, the region is quite small and it will probably be a very ling time before the next region will be released (if ever). I also don't like pure photoreal scenery at ALL but they have got EVERYTHING cover with 3D objects and autogen, so... looks nice. I am downloading the video just ouf of curiosity but I probably won't buy it, not with a new sim being released within a few days.

February 27, 201214 yr Just had a short look at the video that's 16 minutes long. It does look pretty good...! Photoreal with 3D objects ALL OVER the place is the best there is unless you want seasons and nights etc... :( However, the region isn't very interesting: utterly flat... I wouldn't mind if they or someone else would create more of this kind of scenery. Reminds me a bit of Horizon's Wales where they showcased a small region with 3D objects. This new scenery looks better, but as I said: flat...Besides, 1 m pixels still is pretty low res...

It's gonna take them at least 1-2 years to finalize the whole country with this technic... too much, too soon....
February 28, 201214 yr Personally, to me it looks like custom autogen models sitting on top of a Orbx-esque style terrain. I'm honestly not trying to dampen enthusiasm and it's an interesting development but I am not impressed with it, and it doesn't warrant IMHO anything 'new' as such. Just a LOT of custom autogen models placed on pretty terrain..... I would choose Orbx any day over this, because I would worry about FPS and performance with all that AG. Orbx only has photoreal terrain around its addon airports. PNW and NRM etc are all generic. That's the main difference and it's a huge one.
February 29, 201214 yr Looks far better than OrbXThat's the funny thing about subjectivity. I think they are fairly similar, and I like aspects of both. I think the colors look a little more real in ORBX scenery.http://fullterrain.c.../ss/nzsi/36.jpg Edited February 29, 201214 yr by audiohavoc Shane Gavin
February 29, 201214 yr Earth Simulations have a similar project in development for the UK. They call it AutoGenesis..... February 29, 201214 yr Actually, the best scenery are one that uses autogen like this and enhance it with photoscenery near airports with hand placed autogens.Aerosoft had some for FS9 that is not avilanble for FSX anymore. I forget what it was called... Its an area near Frankfort, slightly nort east of it, there was a small airport on a cliff (Sloping runway). It used to be my favorite add on scenery.. I used to fly from Aerosoft Frankfort to this small airport on a cliff and try to land on that sloppy airportThis scenery reminds of that.VFR France also has some nice photoscenery with autogens ...France northern Alps close to Geneva. No matter how many autogens scenery you have, if you do not enhance it with phototextures, it does not do it for me.. Especially mountain rocks..has to be phototextures unless the hills are totally covered up with trees and you don't see any baren land. Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
March 2, 201214 yr This is fabulous stuff! I wondered when someone would effectively merge autogen w/ photo real which is clearly a 'Best' way to go, once it's done well enough to become believable, and I think they met this goal. Wonder how it performs?Noel Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. March 2, 201214 yr The new thing on that one seems to be the actual density of the autogen. The combination of good photo work and autogen placement itself can be seen on their previous titles or on things like Switzerland Professional. I like that way too, but it seems like this method produces a lot of work and therefore high prices.Does anyone know if they will sell it on Simmarket too? They did on previous releases but, so far, SM only has the PHOTO HD part, not the VFR one with the autogen. Or am I mixing things up now?
March 2, 201214 yr WOW! This is beautiful, how can people be saying they aren't impressed? Simon Roberts
