I know there are some cranky old Simmers but do you have patience? This is only the beginning and I have a friend from licensing offices from Boeing who said Microsoft came to them for licenses... Do I know which plane/product? No. But something with Boeing jets will be in. and Plus, the introduction to the Vans RV6 is phenomenal!!! Keep up the amazing work guys! ;) ### I like Flight, but I will not buy any Flight DLC before TrackIR is supported. ###
March 3, 201214 yr Word is that MS spent hours photo-ing the Dreamliner, inside and out.RB Flight gamertag = ronzo155
March 3, 201214 yr Something from Boeing is already in Flight, that big yellow biplane that was in the very first promo shots for Flight is the Boeing Stearman. Which means they needed a licence for it to be in there.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

March 3, 201214 yr Author Boeing StearmanAhh, of course, why didn't I remember that :-) But yeah, there's more evidence that some sort of big iron is coming: there's somewhere a post about MS recruiting someone to oversee the WORLD scenery testing and of course there are the achievements in Flight. I hope they don't try to do it all in-house as I am 100% sure my favorite planes won't be on their to do list any time soon + I doubt they will do very complex systems simulations :-/ ### I like Flight, but I will not buy any Flight DLC before TrackIR is supported. ###
March 3, 201214 yr I'm not interested in any airliner less complex than NGX, and I really doubt they can/know how to make such simulation. Lj. Prodanovic
March 3, 201214 yr So what you are saying is the PMDG team is the only group of persons on the planet that can model a realistic jet? Microsoft can do that. But I highly doubt they will. Cheers, Bert AMD Ryzen 5900X, 32 GB RAM, RTX 3080 Ti, Windows 11 Home 64 bit, MSFS 2024
March 3, 201214 yr Absolutely not, there are many other teams capable to do that, but MS is not one of them. Lets be honest, hard core airliner simers is not MS's audience, so there will be no realistic jet in flight! for year or two (MS said that they will be only DLC developers for that time). March 3, 201214 yr I know there are some cranky old Simmers :LMAO: Tristan Living in the beautiful Chilterns. Lets be honest, hard core airliner simers is not MS's audience, so there will be no realistic jet in flight! for year or two (MS said that they will be only DLC developers for that time). We don't really know what ms's audience is medium term. If there's a market for jets (which i'm confident there is) then there's no reason they won't make one. Just because launch focus is on simple GA, no reason to think that's their only interest.I like the boeing rumours (thanks for nothing for pointing out that their boeing project is/was the boeing Stearman! Killjoy!). :)My only problem is ms's track record of jets. They haven't ever made a jet that i'm particularly interested in flying. What i wouldn't give for Flight's engine plus an open ecosystem... March 3, 201214 yr Its not just about jet or airliner. In order to fly it properly you need complete infrastructure. So before even think about airliner, we need world map, ATC, capable airports, navaids. For now we do not know does that atmosphere actually works, damn there is no even thermometer gauge, and should I even mention complex pressure systems, clouds, icing, windshear... There is no absolutely one indication they have modeled that, beside that nice fog animation.I think they provided too little information even for GA aviation; I never took off in RL before I look at significant weather conditions. And for airliner operations you have to know much more than just that. Lest talk about loadsheet, performanse calc or CG too. Wait, we cannot use that in flight!. Then, lets not do that. March 3, 201214 yr to be honest - MS have always had the latest and greatest popular Boeing in their sims...767 originally wasn't it ?then 737then in FSX - 737-800so a 787 is not unlikely I'd say
March 3, 201214 yr I'm not interested in any airliner less complex than NGX, and I really doubt they can/know how to make such simulation.Really......Really?
March 3, 201214 yr This is not indicative of anything. MS needs a license simply to use the Boeing trademark. Unless MS is bringing a serious developer into the project (folks at PMDG, even iFly), I'll be surprised if whatever they intend to model is anything more than a gutted piece of eye candy. But, hopefully MS will prove me wrong. Edited March 3, 201214 yr by Lawyer+Pilot
March 3, 201214 yr Something from Boeing is already in Flight, that big yellow biplane that was in the very first promo shots for Flight is the Boeing Stearman. Which means they needed a licence for it to be in there.AlTechnically yes. However, this is not a Boeing aircraft. The PT-17 was designed and built by the Stearman company. The company was bought by boeing sometime in the 30's. Boeing thoroughly frustrates me with what they insist are Boeing aircraft. The North American P-51 is now apparently supposed to be a Boeing P-51 (North American was sold to Rockwell which then was sold to Boeing). However, Boeing did nothing for this airplane. They didn't design it, they didn't test it and they didn't build it. It wasn't until years later that they "acquired" it through mergers. Sure, legally for licensing they can get their dues and that's all fine (or at least what it is legally). However, I believe the credit should not be taken away from some of these companies who pioneered these older aircraft. Anyway, sorry for my rant.
