March 5, 201214 yr All I really want from Flight is to fly anywhere that I want to (instead of Hawaii). Also to have all my addons work or the ability to make them compatible. A few other things, however, Microsoft basically wants to be in control of things instead of letting the community have some say on how things should be done (eg. an SDK). Any good developer would be in constant contact with their community valuing any input they give them.Until those things happen, I don't see myself switching to Flight. March 5, 201214 yr I really don't care why others don't or do like it, but I can tell you two things:Why I don't like it?Too basic for me, I am missing the ability to fly anywhere, Hawaii is for me too restrictive for a computer game - it can't even get that diversifyng. For me, I replace that with an imagination of being able to go many places.Other part is completely missing life there - no other aircraft, atc, life in general.Furthermore inability to set up my controllers as I want them set up.Inability to move in the aircraft as I am able in Fsx - all that thanks to 3rd party addons of course. And this is not even mentioning navigational skills etc...Why do some like it?Because they are mostly no hardcore simmers and mostly have no idea how I or others like me use our sims. It's easy to like something simple when you know nothing better. That is why Flight was never intended for me or alike. And it probably never will. Why I am not writing about it?Because I don't really care, I am looking the other way, as I know I will be nothing when it comes to any business decision Microsoft makes. I am not going to spend any energy on that and going to accept it for what it is. I am just a small meaningless guy to a big software giant called Microsoft.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

March 5, 201214 yr Why do some like it?Because they are mostly no hardcore simmers and mostly have no idea how I or others like me use our sims.I'm sorry, Word Not Allowed, but I am getting VERY sick and tired of that hardcore simmers crap. As soon as someone says 'I like MS Flight' he can't be or probably isn't a hardcore simmer. What defines hardcore simmers? By now it seems that hardcore simmers are people who look down on those simple people that only have fun in a game... So ONLY people who play sims like you play them can be hardcore? And those people can't possibly like MS Flight?Boy, am I annoyed by this utter, utter, utter BS.
March 5, 201214 yr Each forumer hopes Flight will be bettered and everyone of us writes in a way or another to reach this will.Only time will say if Flight could be used in a fair way instead of FSX or not.At that time many of us will drop FSX or Flight, depending on what MS will do.I have betatested, I am writing, I am playing and I am hoping......In the future I will make my choice about who drop, now it is too early to say.
March 5, 201214 yr Because they are mostly no hardcore simmers and mostly have no idea how I or others like me use our sims. It's easy to like something simple when you know nothing better.According to you real pilots don't know any better. Wow.
March 5, 201214 yr According to you real pilots don't know any better. Wow."Actually, they don't.Look how much RL pilots we have on this forum and still they cannot agree about flight models between their own. Is it good or bad, is it behave just like RL one or not... 1 RL RV-6 pilot would say that flight model is good, second RL RV-6 pilot will say its bad..."Ah-there is where perhaps you are making an assumption. In my case I stated that I found rudder usage almost non existant and not correct for this type of aircraft (when does one need it on the takeoff roll for instance?). I also said the roll is way too fast (almost like it is a vacuum in space and not in air) and likewise the pitch axis. I also asked if this was due to the "twitchy" control error though am puzzled because the icon and the biplane seem fine.No where did I say it was bad. I also am enjoying this sim for a lot of things, but naturally am puzzled when one of the things I find not so great about it is being reported to be great for others. I'll be the first one to eat crow if it is something with my joystick setup.I'll have plenty of other observations to report when things settle down here-after all I and I am sure others like to pick away at improvements to make any sim better. March 5, 201214 yr I am not a real pilot but flight models seem good except for a tendency of shaking common among each plane.
March 5, 201214 yr Moderator Only time will say if Flight could be used in a fair way instead of FSX or not..Oh Mark, you are missing the point! It's not an case of one or the other. There is no reason why BOTH cannot be used.Flight was never intended to "replace FS9 or FSX," so why are some still thinking that to use Flight means giving up FSX or FS9? Fr. And it probably never will.Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkI have the utmost respect for you, and all the help and knowledge you provide especially in the hardware forums. From what I have seen on the Flight forums of late, I think you may be a little off base here. I have seen several of whom I would consider somewhat hard core simmers, myself included, that are getting a lot of enjoyment out of Flight, and have been pleasantly suprised by what the core product has turned out to be.I think Flight was intended , for a wider broader general audience - whether they reach that audience and more importantly , hold on to them, probably remains to be seen. But I think they have also reached a certain segment of fairly hard core simmers, folks that still love and enjoy FSX, that find they are having enjoyment out of Flight as well. It is different no doubt, and does not have the complexity of FSX, but fun and challenging nonetheless.I myself, will continue to load up my default 737 in FSX, and enjoy my medium to long haul flights with the add on scenery, textures, etc that I have purchased to date. And I absolutely cannot wait for REX to release Essentials! But I'll tell ya, at the same time I have room on my hard drive, and room in my life, to enjoy Flight as well - heck I can be working away on my desktop, get an urge and just double click that ole Flight icon and off I go - no prep work, just quick and dirty flying!Heck, I guess I just love to fly, any ole way I can get it Don B

But editing won't help anymore after being quoted... :wink:BTW @Word Not Allowed, my post wasn't mean personal, so if I offended you (which I probably did) I sincerely apologize. I could have posted what I did in reaction to any other person that would have said something similar... Unfortunately your post was the one that got me into the red zone. :friends:
March 5, 201214 yr Thanks for incorrectly judging me - you're a moderator, and you make broad statements like that?Sorry, I went a bit too far on this one.I only wanted to point out that I think Flight is for casual use. But you are so limited that you are basically not using the sim at any higher level than a 10yr old. It comes down from a serious simulator to a game. But hey, I only wanted to put a small opinion (and I'm sorry if I voiced something that apparently some took as an offense, as that was not my intention!).Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
March 5, 201214 yr I read many thoughts of enthusiasm from "people" here about where this is hopefully headed. As of the moment, they have covered 1/8952th of the earth's land, and 1/590th of the United States with scenery, and taken 17 months to do it. This is not exactly a dazzling statistic for expansion optimism. And especially at the prices they are charging ! And as a "person" this is why I "personally" cannot get too thrilled about this product. It's OK for what it is.Bob Edited March 5, 201214 yr by Toys_R_Us
