March 5, 201214 yr Have you flown many cargo missions? Cargo missions don't make for serious flying any more or less than sightseeing.I'll take that as a "no".Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
March 5, 201214 yr The Maule definitely doesn't have the "hands off" flight characteristics of the RV. You fly that plane (just like the Stearman) hands on from the moment you start to rollout up to coming to a complete stop after landing. It's a blast to fly. I'm actually glad the AP doesn't work yet on it because learning to fly it 100% manually has improved my takeoff and landing skills tremendously. March 5, 201214 yr Tell me about it, I am 53 years old, and that Stearman landing challenge 6 is kicking my butt!I hear you Don. What about the Maule challenge 5. Darn wind farm! - Dean P3Dv4 & XP11 space
March 5, 201214 yr I hear you Don. What about the Maule challenge 5. Darn wind farm!Tell me about it.. Never has the term "magnet" felt more appropriate. I got silver on that and felt like I just won a gold medal in the Olympics. March 5, 201214 yr It's just this type of sweeping and dismissive generalization that irritates me to no end. It makes me wonder if the person saying it has actually tried that which he's condemning at all...It reads more like a conclusion formed from rumor rather than a serious, objective observation.I'm still amazed what a piece of software can trigger for emotions lol around the community BilRemember the FS9 versus FSX debates man headache stuff lolHave downloaded Flight and too see what's the latest from MS is...My expectation was to explore a game, and I congrats MS with a lot of hard work done :-)All simple basic stuff regarding flight model and simulation (but that was probably the intention) and will attract a lot of new comers I which is a positive thing for our community.For me personal I'm not going to use it because I like to simulate Aircraft close to real life in every aspectand Flight can't do that in it's current state (maybe never intended for that purpose too) ;-)(Yes I have real world flying skills and experience)But I can imagine with a different mind set it can be a lot of fun.Performance is great but that was expected with this level of detail and missing a lot of stuff which can drain performance.Curios what the performance will be above Europe or detailed city and a large airport (I understand this is a framework and they will slowly expand the world area?)I like the implementation of the missions and the lightning and rendering of the terrain also the GUI...Just have fun guys and girls in whatever simulation you will explore the virtual skies.Cheers, André

For myself I prefer the simple joy of flying, not systems operation. Each is a valid and licit point of view.You are at least willing to allow folks like me to enjoy what we like, and vice-versa. If nothing else, Flight has forced me to brush up on my rusty navigation skills, as well as my basic pilotage......which has in turn allowed me to fly better in FSX too! :drinks: Fr. Its just that this hobby is a rapidly shrinking demographic. and I think its exactly because of that attitude. When I first hit the Simulation forums a few years ago I winced for years (I still wince) at the dismissive way terms like "console gamer" "console crowd" "Dumbed down" and several other widely used terms in these circles are casually tossed about to describe some knuckle dragging species of subhuman not enlightened enough to understand the lofty heights of "True" simulation nirvana.I stuck around despite that, but I hate, hate, hate those terms, and I have always believed that that atmosphere and attitude is exactly what drove the Sim world to the technical nirvana-land that left everyone else far, far behind. (With no ladders dropped down to the unworthy peasants)That's why I believe that of the 20million people who apparently purchased flight simulators, only a reported 40,0000 "true believers" remain, busily driving the hobby even further and deeper into a financial and cultural cul de sac of true simulation heaven.Thats all fine. If the hard-core really don't want us, Ace combat and all the ultra million selling alternatives await, and the true simmers can bask in technical perfection until we come turn off the light.And if I get moderated, I don't care. March 5, 201214 yr I'm not going to moderate your post . . . I totally agree with you. I'm a bit fan of inclusiveness . . . exclusiveness can be a pretty harmful (and hurtful) practice,Well I see it a bit more balanced, there are floating a lot of good folks around here at AVSIM.We old timers have contributed a lot to the hobby thousands of hours of our free time in knowledge / and add onsin the library and that made AVSIM a great place to stay and made the franchise a success ;-)It's all about respect for different opinions and expectations about the aviation experience (the common factor here ;-))Unfortunately sometimes we have had some heated debates going on here at AVSIM even 10 years ago lolI think there isn't wrong or right, it's just about the personal preference and expectation from the simmer which is obvious different for everyone.It's all about fun and sharing knowledge to get the most out our hobby with respect for every simmer his choice or opinion ;-)Have fun,Cheers,Andre, you may have a pleasant surprise coming.. even in it's current form, the RV6 is simulated prettyclose to the real thing and we are only a week into this..Yes, there are many things missing, starting with any kind of ATC, but who knows what may be coming in the future.Thanks Bert, well time will tell ;-) André
March 5, 201214 yr Come now.... flying an RV6 in rough weather conditions into various airports,using either IFR or VFR flying techniques, can hardly be described that way.Have you actually tried this sim? I didn't fly it longer than 1,5hrs. Maybe that was an error.And no, I didn't download RV6 or buy an DLC, since I didn't feel compelled to.It became evident to me after an hour that it's nothing for me.But hey... All this raving about it might even persuade me to give it another go.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
March 5, 201214 yr Post from real pilots almost unanimously have glowing praise about Flight! This is quite frankly the single most shocking thing I have seen about Flight's reaction. I can't agree with you there. Some real world pilots have praise for it, and some do not. I don't know where you came up with "unanimously", but I would to know what data you have to back that up.
