March 5, 201214 yr Author Commercial Member After some more testing with the RV-6 the twitchyness seems to have settled down, (Don't know how, it's still there but not nearly as bad.) I did find something more disturbing, unless someone can tell me this is realistic behavior? Im feeling the same thing you are. I dont fly the RV a lot, but testing things now she's not pushed around a lot like the Maule. I thin it needs more testing, but in its own thread. Kevin Miller 3D Artist and developer
March 5, 201214 yr Commercial Member Ya. I fully understand how disappointed the hard core was. They really wanted FS11, and anything less is just un-acceptable. But they need to get over it and move on. Raging on every forum, review, and video is not going to bring them FS11, and it will only make them look like elitist jerks. We still have FSX and I see at least another solid year of add-on's, and we still have XP10. PMDG 737NGX is a simply stunning product, but im not the sort of simmer that enjoys spending 30 mins just to turn the stinkin aircraft on! I want to fly, and Flight gives me that instant satisfaction. I would NOT be a good pilot in real life.To each there own. I just take offense at how a small but very vocal group of "hard core" simmers are attacking Flight and anyone who enjoys it. Its truly childish, and I dont want to be associated with that group in any way.Im really happy though that things are calming down. The forums are a lot more enjoyable today then they were before Feb 29th, thats for sure! Also a lot more active!!!With all respect for you - why do you take offence ?Simmers have the rights to express their opinion as much as you do - positive or negative - whatever is - is of same value - It is also of value to Ms - to understand better what the optimal product could be in the future; unless you want a North Korea style forum with the order - ONLY POSITIVE !! and big smiles to show the world we are the best and the happier !!regarding a small group - it is not as such - the negative reception of flight by the world of flight simulator fans - is everywhere to be seen - from facebook flight site itself - youtube - forums - etc etc -the majority of microsoft flight simulator franchise customers - are not very happy of this release - as by now you release it yourself. I thin it needs more testing, but in its own thread.Agreed, just to finish it off though, I just did the same test in the Stearman, and it behaved as expected, so it looks like the problem is just in the RV. Kind of makes me wonder about those pilots that said they nailed it? I hope they fix it, as I like the plane itself, I could see why Larry likes it!!! March 5, 201214 yr Author Commercial Member With all respect for you - why do you take offence ? I take offense to anyone attacking anyone for enjoying something they like. Period. How could I not? People DO like Flight. Its a fun flight sim. Let people enjoy it. Its interesting to see you think your the representative of the "majority of Microsoft Flight simulator" fans. Who voted you into that position? I say its a small group, because I really REALLY hope that most hard core sim fans arnt so childish as to attack people who like Flight just because they dont. I dont want to condemn an entire group based on the actions of a few. Kevin Miller 3D Artist and developer
March 5, 201214 yr A decade ago I was a big-time flight sim junkie, but I gradually lost interest as the sim-makers shifted their focus away from "flying" to the technology, procedures and infrastructure of flight.I also haven't flown a real plane in years, but Flight is giving me the bug again. It's reminding me of those joyful times when hopping into a C172 was a game, whether it was a real game or just a simulated one.Microsoft didn't remove "Simulator" from the title because they removed the simulator from the game... they removed it because Flight is more than just a simulator. You NAILED IT! I've been out of miltary aviation about 10 years now, civilian for about 8...and as a former "real world" pilot, Flight definitely brings that stupid smile back to my face. Just like after riding my motorcycle, MV...that "I've just had the most fun I can imagine" feeling!Ray do you have an Herc time? I've got about 1200 hrs as Flight Engineer...

Also a lot more active!!!Thats just kids, real "hard core simmers" (very ugly syntax, but I just cant find another), moved on long time ago; actually hard core simmers never looked forward for Flight! at all. For example Im not disappointed with flight at all, that is what I expected to get. Kids are angry because they wasn't understand what MS was making. There are FSX and XP10, hundreds of great addons. Even FS2004 is still alive.Personally I'm disappointed because MS abandoned the great system that worked well for 15 or so years, the biggest developers are switching at other platforms, its really sad we will just remember MS FS franchise in few years. But as I said, I knew all that, way before MS even announced flight so I like flight content. However, "no repetitive value" for me means I uninstalled flight. Theres nothing more to do, I finished all challenges, missions, jobs available for me, and free flight is extremely slow and boring. Theres nothing more to do, I finished all challenges, missions, jobs available for me, and free flight is extremely slow and boringThat though is the real reason MS did this! Sure the 3rd party developers increased MS sales of the base product, but the real money was in the addons, and MS wasn't seeing any of it. So this time around they made sure that didn't happen again, and took it in house, and if there was 3rd party addons they'd get their chunk of the proceeds (30%). The mistake MS is making is the requirement to surrender the intellectual property rights to them, no 3rd party developer to date has agreed to that one, and I don't think they ever will unless MS drops that clause. This leaves only MS developed addons. So I'm not expecting much. Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
March 5, 201214 yr During the beta, I'm pretty sure that the RV required more rudder, and the Turn Coordinator's ball moved around a LOT more. The Flight Team stated that there was some "flight model tuning" done to the release version . . . which us beta tester never had the chance to test. I'm wondering if they messed this part up (fixing one issue often breaks another). ~ Arwen ~ Home Airfield: KHIE
March 5, 201214 yr free flight is extremely slow and boring. That's about the saddest thing I've ever read.

I've got about 1200 hrs as Flight Engineer...No, my only Herc time is as PAX. Actually, all of my official stick-time is in GA, mostly Cessna 172s. I've got around 30 unlogged hours in P-3s, but those hardly count (although the PPCs and FEs generally told me I flew better than their 3P, and once better than their 2P.) I'm a recently retired P-3 avionics tech.Luckily I just found out that a friend of a friend has a Cessna 170 that spends way too much time just sitting in a hangar. I'm trying to work something out, but a tail-dragger will be a new experience for me.

March 5, 201214 yr Personally I'm disappointed because MS abandoned the great system that worked well for 15 or so yearsI think it worked for us very well but as far as MS is concerned FS was a failed business model that required masses of R&D for a one time $50 sale.Maybe this wasn't true for FS9 or earlier but as it gets more complex it becomes more time consuming for them to release a game that will get crushed on the charts by the latest first person shooter.Personally I think they should have let the 3rd party guys do the content and have a licensing model so MS can share in some of the after market dollars. But it is what it is and I'll take whatever is on offer. Edited March 5, 201214 yr by Speed_NYC

March 5, 201214 yr Its your choice, my is to support FSX 3pd community. :)Very honorable of you. I'm sure I will get bored of Flight when I run out of content and be back to buying stuff from the FSX 3pd.
