The lack of toe brakes is fouling up my landings.

We just had a discussion of crosswinds and I must admit things are more than a bit challenging on rollout without toe brakes. I've ran off the runway more than a few times because the 'B' key is not working out...

Same here - we'll just have to wait for Microsoft to deliver it..

Rudder pedal combined with the brake key causes differential braking. Its not ideal, but its a work around till MS fixes the brake axis.

I'm sure they'll fix it, but I loved being able to fix these things with FSUIPC in the past. Wish they had something like that.- Gary Letona

Um Dillon, "B" is not "Brakes!"Use: Z X C keys for brakes.Z = left brakeX = both brakesC = right brakesUntil toe-brake axes are fixed, I've assigned the left/right brakes to the two trigger buttons on my CH Yoke. I then added the <Repeat>32.000</Repeat> to the standard.xml file. This allows me to use "differential braking" to assist in steering while on ground...My only "complaint" is that there's about a 2 second delay between application and actual braking, so I've need to anticipate using the left/right brakes.

Sounds like you need to bleed the brakes.

I experience this even using the keyboard controls for left/right brakes. There seems to always be a delay between when I press the key and when the brakes actually start responding. I hope this is something they address whenever they get around to fixing toe brakes.-George

Did you uncheck soft braking in the options? It's on by default, so people don't tip the Stearman on its nose :).

I don't know, I thought I had set everything up as realistically as possible, but it's entirely plausible that I missed that option. Going to have to check that on my next Flight session. Thanks for the tip! :)-George

Has anyone had any success mapping the 'X' = 'both brakes' function to a Joystick button?I've tried mapping that key to a couple of different buttons but it doesn't seem to work mapped to a joystick, only to the X key?Just want to make sure it's not just me confusing the 2 second delay of the brakes for the joystick button mapping not working, although it does make it a convenient scapegoat for my failing the Stearman landing challenges by crashing after running off the end of the runway :D

I was able to map to the trigger on my joystick with no problem , other than aforementioned delay.

You can map the "Both Brakes" function to a single button on your joystick, but will still need to edit the standard.xml file to add the <Repeat>32.00000</Repeat> entry to that button's definition. There is about a 2 second delay in actual braking regardless of using the keyboard or mapped button(s) however. If the brakes on my aircraft or my car had a 2 second delay in being applied, I'd have died years ago...Hopefully this will be fixed in a future update push to Flight.

Thanks for the confirmation Don and Bill, I will revisit my mapping tonight and add that repeat rate, having brakes on the Joystick will increase my enjoyment of landings a huge amount as opposed to trying to fumble for the keyboard, many thanks.

Bill, are you sure on having to add that repeat line for the brakes?I assigned to my trigger as mentioned, and don't recall ever adding that line for the brakes - as long as I keep my trigger held in, the brakes keep working...

It may well have been the 2 second delay that made me think they weren't working, but adding the line does no harm...
