MS Flight - Chance of air combat?

Featured Replies

Any chance of MS Flight adopting any of the old CFS weapons systems for online combat like Fighter Ace back on the MSN gaming zone?

Who knows?

I'll move this to the proper venue :Nerd:

The Dev team have said NO to this idea and rightly so in my opinion.Fred.

Hello KewlToyz, welcome to the AVSIM forums.You just posted a simple question, and I obviously don’t know who voted you down.So the question is for whoever did it. Why?Jim answered correctly “Who Knows?”

SteveHowe, that was a very "roundabout" answer. :Just Kidding:

For something similar, play 'air tag.' You bump or crash into someone and then you're 'it'It sounds simple but it's pretty fun actually trying to outmaneuver one another, testing your piloting skills.

While I understand and agree that within the MSFS franchise, and Flight would be a part of this, air combat does not really have a place.However I am one, being a fan of air combat as well, specifically the WWII area, would not mind seeing MS get back into developing a new product for that venue, much like they did with the CFS series. Right now seem like the Russians have cornered that market for the most part, and they are doing some really good stuff.I would imagine part of the Flight Team would probably do a pretty good job in helping to develop a product for that market as well. Maybe someday MS will make the decision to re-enter that arena as well.I do agree with Ramon though, sad that someone would vote down this guy's first post - certainly nothing wrong with asking the question...

Ribbon cutting would be a suitable scenario - each plane has a 50 foot ribbon trailing behind, cutting the other guys ribbon wins the match.CheersKeith

just helped to get him 1 up to -1
Now he is back to Neutral

It's hard to beat http://www.hitechcreations.com Aces High for MMO WW2 aerial combat. But then again, that requires a $14.95 monthly subscription, which I've maintained since the AH open beta ended in late '99 or early 2000. Wow, that's over $2000!

Heh!! That's certainly cheaper than Dale's first WW2 combat sim, WarBirds. A typical monthly bill for a customer was over $60 at $2 per hour to fly, and many people topped $250 every month.Hook

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

It wouldn't surprise me too much to see a combat add on for Flight at all, in fact, I suspect the fact that Pearl Harbor is a location in the base sim is no coincidence. MS has at least some pedigree with air combat, having made CFS 1 2 and 3, plus that other semi-fantasy one set in an alternate reality in the 1930s (name escapes me at the moment.. Crimson Skies? was it). Flight Simulator itself used to have air combat in it too let's not forget, with a bit of a dogfight game built in where you used the default Sopwith Camel. It was pretty basic, but it was combat and it was in Flight Simulator. The dev team may have said no, but if the board of directors say yes, then that's what will happen.Al
