Toe brakes - Now working

Featured Replies

I am now used to surf the web while Flight loads content...it may take up to 3-4 minutes now.

You should be able to check by looking at the last written dates on your Flight files, just search for 'changed this week'.OTOH, I noticea, Flight now says 'loading content' a lot longer than it used to on startupb, a little box in the RH screen corner for a while saying "Decacache" - whats that about?c, I can't find the RV-6 files anywhere..and the file for the Hawaii DLC looks suspiciously smallSo I wonder if some things are always downloaded on connection?CheersKeith
a: Loading Content got longer for me after purchasing the Hawaii Adventure Pack.b: not really sure have not noticedc: Are you looking in the appropriate folder? The DLC is stored under it's own seperate folder, and where it is stored on your pc is determined by your settings for downloads in GFWL, NOT by where your copy of Flight is installed. Note you can change those settings to store where you prefer. The folder name for DLC is 4d5308d2 on my machine, I presume it would be the same for everyone. My Hawaii Adventure Pack folder is 862 mb. That folder name is not clear, it is numbers as well - only way I could tell was by peeking at some of hte contents, plus the only other folder I have under my DLC folder is for the Maule I added. It would be nice, for DLC items purchased/ installed, if they installed into recognizable folder names rather than just a sequence of numbers name for the folder...

First: Don,Get well soon.Several reasons come to mind as for why a software developer might want to name folders with “numbres”.Actually some of those are GUID named folders, and others have “hex values” or more appropriately hash valued named folders1.- The software developer does not want you to fiddle with those folders.2.- Those GUID named folders might be tied to registry keys, and the app in question is also tied to those registry keys.3.- The software developer is using DLC, as in the case of Flight, so it is much more efficient to track DLC versions, updates, etc.4.- The software developer has many products that use the DLC technique, so each GUID named folder contains “content”, specific information or data code related to whatever app you bought and/or downloaded from their site.5.- Other folders with hex value names contain your user profile, and somehow are tied to hash files for security reasons.6.- Other Security reasons (but I shall not go into that)

Time, is the one thing no one can buy.

Thanks Ramon, I appreciate that! Some pretty tough pain right now, but should start to get a little better each day soon. In fact this is why I have all the downtime and homebound right now and spent so much time with Flight, in fact if not for this issue , I probably would not have even downloaded it to try as I was one of those hard corers that had made up my mind I did not like the path they were taking with the new product... obviously I feel a lot different about that now.Now if you could just translate those 6 items into English... :wink:J/k, some of that I guess would make sense. Just makes it more complex for those of us that like to dig into those folders, once several more dlc has been added it will be quite confusing on what folder contains what. But then I imagen for them that is probably a good thing. Thanks for the clarification,

Well, I loaded Flight this afternoon and now, no toe brakes just like before. I have no idea what happened, and didn't pay any particular attention to the sequence of events that led to me having toe brakes during one flight so, I'm bewildered. I did check the date on my standards file and it showed today's date. Wonder if it's written each time the sim is loaded. Anyhow, back to the same old button press for brakes. The only thing I can figure is that perhaps my button was sticky which led me to think the toe brakes were working when in fact, they were partially applied without me knowing it. Due to the delay in the brakes activating after key or button presses, this would allow one to coast a good bit before it became noticeable that the brakes had been applied. Out of habit, even though the button on my yoke is programmed for brakes, I continue to use my toes to brake. So I may have had a partial activation due to the button which led me to think something wonderful had happened. I'll keep messing with this to see what comes up when I have time. The only other thing I can think of is maybe I had a USB glitch which confused assignments. Who knows.

Thank you.

Rick

Hi Folks

Something definitely changed. I have awards that I got ages ago that show I earned them earned on 3/14..Example"First Spin - Perform A Spin / Date Earned 3/14/2012"Yet I earned that the day I bought the game weeks ago.. Also my total consecutive spins went from 108 to 74..Another"Complete your first solo landing / Date Earned 3/14/12.."That's impossible..
styckx -Those date earned (3/14/2012) will be correct.FLIGHT stores the various parameters for your Pilot Profileacross 10 different career#.bin data files. What'll have happened isthe career#.bin file which that subset of data was stored inwill have become corrupted for some reason, and a new file will have been created.i.e. on 3/14/2012 you'd re-earned those awards.HTHATBPaul

Classical;
How about that! I trained as a classical concert organist back <mumble-mumble> years ago... I still perform several times a year, but now mostly play for my own enjoyment. :Nerd:I haven't tried my CH Pro Pedals since last week, but will do so in the morning. I've had to spend the last week working on my FSX projects since I do enjoy eating now and then... :LMAO:

Good to hear that you are keeping hand in, (and feet) :Just Kidding: . But I must say that the coordination required playing the pipe-organ helps me a great deal when flying a virtual plane.

Noticed the same here, takes 2-3 times longer to load content, and I don't have any DLC..

This new toe brake feature leaves allot to be desired. First off it's all or nothing and pushing my CH Peddles all the way down cancels out braking altogether. There's no sensitivity setting to adjust things so I have to barely push the toe brakes on my CH Peddles to get them to work. This is a start but I hope they improve the feature so it's not so awkward.

I guess I was right then if you have toe brakes too. I tried it again and no toe brakes. I'm not sure what's going on. Please elaborate on your post.

Thank you.
