March 16, 201214 yr Weird. Yesterday while messing around in Flight and shooting some landings, my toe brakes worked. I'm using CH rudder pedals and have them assigned in setup. I also have button one on my CH yoke programmed for brakes.The only thing I've changed in the setup was to uncheck smooth braking. When I did, the toe brakes started working. Wonder if MS snuck in a patch that I didn't know about. Don't care how it happened, I'm just glad it did. Now to do some testing today. I think differential braking is working also. If so, I'm happy. March 16, 201214 yr Something definitely changed. I have awards that I got ages ago that show I earned them earned on 3/14..Example"First Spin - Perform A Spin / Date Earned 3/14/2012"Yet I earned that the day I bought the game weeks ago.. Also my total consecutive spins went from 108 to 74..Another"Complete your first solo landing / Date Earned 3/14/12.."That's impossible.. March 16, 201214 yr That's bizarre. Can you get partial brakes as well? If you depress the pedals fully to hold the plane during runup, does it work? Did you do anything special to the control xml file other than assigning the brakes to the toe pedal axes? Thanks.Hook Larry Hookins Oh! March 16, 201214 yr Something definitely changed.interesting. I tend to glimpse at the version number when flight starts and still saw the x306 or whatever is is. can MS inject updates without letting us know? on the one hand I would like to know when someone does something on my comp, on the other hand I do not want to download yet another 1.4gb for an update. last but not least I wonder whether MS can do these achievement changes somehow 'online', i.e. when you are logged in to live they read your offline profile and just 'translate' it into achievements which are then saved back in your offline profile, so not changes to any file done? March 16, 201214 yr That might be the case Phil that it that stuff is `in the cloud'. Interested to hear others confirm toe brakes now work. If so I can ditch my ghetto improvised rudder pedals and go buy a real pair.. I'm just not spending the money until I know that feature would work. March 16, 201214 yr Hmm.. I just sold my old CH pedals on e-bay to upgrade to the Saitek Cessna pedals. Unfortunately, they won't be here till Tuesday! (I have the yoke on the way as well as a TrackIR even though it's not supported in Flight.)As soon as I get 'em, I'll check out the toe brakes, especially to see if MS finally allows an axis to be assigned for proper braking!WildBill
March 16, 201214 yr Very strange as I still cannot get my CH toe brakes to work, how did your further testing go? March 16, 201214 yr pipeorgan: theatre or classical? :DI just did a quick test. Toe brakes work... more or less. If you partially depress the brake pedals, they turn the brakes on, same as pressing Z or C keys. Doesn't seem to treat it like a proper axis. Also, every time you reload the program, the brake assignments go away and you have to reset them.I think this is how it's always worked.My awards have the correct date.WildBill: I wanna know how the Cessna pedals work when you get them. They certainly look good.Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
March 16, 201214 yr WildBill: I wanna know how the Cessna pedals work when you get them. They certainly look good.No problem. It's a shame Flight doesn't support brake axis assignment (yet?). Much easier to taxi with proper brake control. Regardless, I'll try to remember to post my impressions of the pedals and yoke after I have some time with them.
March 16, 201214 yr Might be just a fluke this time, but I swear I have been noticing subtle changes in the game......And Microsoft is famous for stealth updates.On the other hand, it could all be in our imaginations! March 16, 201214 yr theatre or classical?Classical; I agree that there has not been any change yet so we are still waiting for the real fix which I am very much looking forward to. March 16, 201214 yr I tend to glimpse at the version number when flight starts and still saw the x306 or whatever is is. can MS inject updates without letting us know?Well with the ecosystem they have with Flight, just like Steam, they certainly can anytime should they choose to.I would hope however that if they do push any updates out to the program, that they would at the very least make a small message to appear somewhere , that the udpate was issued and what it was correcting.It would be a shame if they did not and we found ourselves continuing to complain about certain things that had been fixed days before and only discovered recently by accident by a member of the forum. I would hate to think the only way I would find out that native Track IR support had been added was this way... Don B
March 16, 201214 yr You should be able to check by looking at the last written dates on your Flight files, just search for 'changed this week'.OTOH, I noticea, Flight now says 'loading content' a lot longer than it used to on startupb, a little box in the RH screen corner for a while saying "Decacache" - whats that about?c, I can't find the RV-6 files anywhere..and the file for the Hawaii DLC looks suspiciously smallSo I wonder if some things are always downloaded on connection?CheersKeith ...
March 16, 201214 yr b, a little box in the RH screen corner for a while saying "Decacache" - whats that about?That's how many Daily Aerocaches you have found, heading towards 10.
March 16, 201214 yr a, Flight now says 'loading content' a lot longer than it used to on startupNoticed that too but believe it is because it is loading or at least reading and checking the DLC. Just wonder how much longer it will take the more DLC you add over time Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
