The future of 2D-panels

Featured Replies

EZDOK solves all the problems, 2D is terrible, looks terrible and should be put to bed now after 20+ years.
But you need to think as well in costumers with low performance pc's that cant allow 3d cockpits with good frame rates so 2d just do the job pretty well....

Upgrading might be the answer for these people, a new 2500K rig these days is nothing. I built mine for around £700. It will change FSX for you and become so much more enjoyable.

Completly true but you nee to think that and aircraft like the ngx or the 777 costs around 60€ and not every person can spend 700€ in a pc this moment...

At the risk of sounding a bit of an idiot I'd say that if you can't upgrade your PC then these products are not aimed at you. These are aimed at those who can run them, you can't expect a study sim quality aircraft AND have impossible performance on a low spec PC. You have to accept that if your PC isn't up to running the plane, you need to upgrade before getting the products? I don't know but pmdg can't provide this kinda stuff and then get rinsed when it won't run "well" on old tech.Oh and just to add, my PC currently is far from up to scratch for running these products well, so I'm in that group too...

So, £700 is "nothing" to you.You are naive sir, many aren't as fortunate as yourself. £700 is a lot of money to many people.

In which case, as PMDG did with the NGX... by providing a 2D panel, they provide a product that "can" be purchased by those with less advanced PC's, and thus make more profit. And that's coming from someone who has a powerful PC's and prefers virtual cockpits. I spare a thought for those who haven't got powerful enough PC's and wish for them to enjoy the products too.

Thanks for that! £700 isnt a great deal of money in this day and age for a hobby, after all this is a hobby! watching football will cost you a lot more for a season ticket, food and getting to the stadium etc every year. Golf will cost you £1000 a year for green fees, i think people need to look at this at how it is, an expensive hobby that cant be done correctly with old equipment.

I see your point, but I guess the decision was taken to reduce development time? I don't know t knowledge of FS development is limited to say the least! The easy answer is to get an CPL/IR and come fly the real things, seriously, the vc looks awesome, and the 777s I saw? They have weather radars and everything! Haha. :(

Thanks for the personal attack there, much appreciated indeed!I dont play golf, nor do i go on football matches. I have worked hard to ge to get to where i am in life, i am by no means rich, but can see that FSX isnt a game, its a hobby and as such costs. I bet you dont like having to pay PMDG more than you paid for FSX do you?

If you are a smoker, you know what to do.If not, well in about a year with the next generation CPUs, GPUs and whatever hitting the markets, the £700 computer of today will become £250 tomorrow and the FSX will still run excellent. Good luck.

If you have problems with the progress, perhaps you need to stick to the FS95. 2D falls into oblivion and we should admit it.

Let your dollars speak for you, threads do little to sway people nowadays.

It is a game and your hobby is to play games obviously. And should we really compare 70$ addon with £700 rig? You have to understand even if you are rich, and £700 is nothing for you, more than half people on this world cannot effort to throw away £700 on PC.. you know they have to by something to eat...And its not personal attack, its the fact. Why you actually hate 2d panels? because less people can play the game so you fell better than they? or because poor people is not noble enough for such expensive hobby?

Maybe you should pay 100k $ for ATPL, and more for type rate, why you need to stick with FSX, its too old, real flying is much better.

In fact I do have PPL and am going for my Instrument rating in the coming months. Looking forward for every day I can do real flying. Thanks for the advise.
