Anyone using Traffic X?

Featured Replies

Got a "Deal of the Day" from Just Flight for Traffic X...and I installed it. Trouble is, I see NO difference. I've followed all the directions and have gone throught the manual, but I see no traffic at any airport that's different from what I've seen before. What's the secret? I thought I just had to install the program, and voila! However, I've tried all that I thought I needed to do to make it work. Is there a secret switch that gives me airplanes in all those empty spaces at an airport?Just looking for some advice.Thanks.Stan

I'd take a look on the Just Flight forum if I were you, you'll probably find a solution there: www.justflight.comAl

Have you checked the scenery object for the traffic is added and at the top of the list?

Cheers!

Hey Stan,Take a look at the review here at Avsim....I think it talks about your issue.http://www.avsim.com/pages/0109/JustFlight/TrafficX.htmLet us know how it looks once you resolve it...I'm interested in that deal of the day too. I love that site...have gotten a bunch of deals on it!If you are into flying that EMB 175/195 they have on sale for $19.97 (until April 2), I've painted some for us to fly around in. Check out the screenshot forum for pics...Here is one I'm just about done painting: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/368163-its-my-lot-in-life/I've been having a blast flying her (when I'm not painting her, LoL)Regards,Steve Dra

I purchased Traffic X on a sale some time back. It does work for me, but I am not impressed with the amount of traffic it gives me. Some major cities in the US aren't bad, but most areas are very sparse. I added some additional flights myself using the built in tools, but that takes a lot of time. I think I'll switch to MyTraffic X next time around.

Probably an install issue. Did you install as admin?Among other files there should be at least this file: [FSXDIR]SceneryWorldSceneryTrafficX.bglAlso, there is a service pack for TrafficX available at their website. Make sure you install that.If you have addon-airports that add new AFCADs to FSX, you need to re-compile the traffic. For that you must have the FSX SDK installed first. Then do the following:1) Open Traffic Control Centre2) Click Airport Information3) Click Update Existing4) Click Exit to go to main screen5) (Optional: Go to Traffic Generator make traffic density adjustments here. This is only for randomly generated GA traffic)6) Click Traffic Movements7) Click Compile TrafficX Flight plans8) In the file dialog, choose to overwrite the TrafficX.bgl file mentioned aboveHope that helps!

Tom

I've used it for a while (AU Traffic deals with AUS/NZ) and these days i have VoxATC running the air traffic by use of TrafficX and have had no issues with the program myself. Its important to install the service pack from their website to increase your traffic density and with running your traffic slider at 40-50% you should have a decent level of traffic.Your default FSX traffic bgl file should be disabled and using the one mentioned above.

Kind Regards

Simon.

Be sure to disable any FS9 models you are using in your traffic files.

I use traffic x along with world of ai so that WOai (freeware) makes up for areas that traffic x does not cover well such as Hawaii.Using that method though you would have to make sure WOai traffic is converted to fsx because WOAI traffic by default is Fs9 style and both fsx and fs9 can't be used together.WOAI website should provide the conversion tool for free or tell you where to get it.To answer your original question though you may have to open the traffic control center that came with the addon and compile the traffic in order for it to show up in fsx.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will be working on it this week. I guess you get what you pay for. Hoping I can make this product add to the realism.Stan

OK...I turned my traffic up to 60% in FSX and now I'm seeing Traffic X. How do I know? Well American Airlines planes say "Merican". That was one of the negatives I read about on the Just Flight Forum. I'm OK with that as long as my traffic looks realistic. Got a little slowdown at airports like DFW and SEATAC, but still good. Haven't tried JFK yet, but I'll bet it's going to be taxing on the system a bit.
