Oh that's easy. Just listen to her what she's mumbling about, what's important to her, look for those things in the car, point that out to her, tell her how easily it is to clean the puke after the kids off the leather seats and when she starts mumbling about something like price, if we need it, blah blah blaaaaaaaah, just give her a hug and a kiss, and tell her you love her! :LMAO:

YMMV

Awesome Manny!!

Manny, by far one of the best home made cockpits I have ever seen. Bravo!

Awwwh! Thanks Ben and Word Not Allowed. That makes me feel so good. I got a carpenter friend help me build that contraption where I placed all the stuff. Initially I had all the pieces all over the table. My fav thing is that light.. Its an LED strip I got and I bought a dimmer switch and I simply can't get enough of it. LOL :)

The panel board is a regular hardboard and I pained it with a spray can. Its grey "Stone". It has some particles that sticks to the surface giving that stone texture... its a awesome.

Thanks again

Can you please write into a bit more detail what hardware is used here? For instance, which mcp, which instruments, how is that orange lighting achieved, yoke, tq, displays... And what a/c are you mainly flying?

1) My prize possession is the 8 pack analog gauges. Its from Flight Instruments Illusions" They are really good quality stuff. Although its a tad pricey. It comes close to $3000. However I have spent $3000 on my old Core 2 Duo PC for FSX which was a total waste. So this $3000 I spent I feel, doesn't depreciate like a PC. So I am happy with it.. no rergets. If you notice, the VOR2 has differnt color gauge light.. By the time I bought every thing, they had changed the gauge light from amber to white LEDs... If you were to order gauges, they would all be white leds.

2) TR-1 Avionics (on the right end) from Flight Link. I got it used from someone a while ago. The only thing is, the Frequency do not have a swap button. But it has 1 comm, 2 NAVs, 1 DME, 1 Transponder and Auto Pilot,

3) Go flight GF-P8, GF-166 for NAV1 (primarily with swap freq), GF 46, GF-RP 48 (for the G1000/ G530)

4) GF-MCP Pro and GF-EFIS.

2) Saitek flight instrument X 2 (For Instrument gauges. like Multi Engin MP gauge, Multi Engine RPM...or others depending on what plane I am flying).

Initially I thought I would a put monitor to the right of the panel board. I even have a 15" touch screen bezel less monitor. But decided against it for now. However, I have a 19" Touch screen mounted on a movable mount to the right where I can have either a moving map or the G1000 MFD from the F1 Mustang, I removed the bezel with a config file and I can operate the rotary with the GF-RP48 and the touch screen for the buttons at the bottom.

Thanks for the description. Now I understand, for me it is either going to be a real thing if I manage to pay for it, or simulated world, but then surely no real thing. The costs are starting to pile up already even without a setup like yours.

You have a floor yoke I guess? And which rudder pedals? How do you manage to use the MCP while seating in front of the yoke? The yoke also must have place for travel... Is your chair fixed or rolls like an office chair?

And finally, doesn't your performance suffer greatly flying an NGX or similar, if you do fly it, while spreading across 3 monitors?

Oh and btw. due to generic name, I'm unable to find "Flight Insturments". Can you point me to the website please?

I am using the Saitek Yoke and Saitek Cessna Rudder Pedals (Working on mounting this one) and Quadrant.

I am working on that part just below the table surface beside the Yoke to have a custom twin engine switch panel and throw away that awful Saitek switch panel... The real estate there is begging for some switches and knobs. I have an IO card

BU0836X

and switches and knobs and I have them all working as in Proof of concept. I just need to put it together. That's my next project.

I have a regular office chair for now with a low freq Butt kicker attached to it.

The performance is generally good at 29FPS fixed except when I am at the mega airports with the big airliner aircrafts (NGX at EHAM) where it drops down to 11-20. I love the panoramic view. .but its still manageable, .My biggest limitation or the weakest link is the terrible OOMs. Tomorrow even if we get a 30Ghz PC that gives us 200FPS, we have reached the limit of the VAS. THE DEAD END.

PS It's called Flight illusions..not Flight Instrument gauges., Sorry about that.

The aircrafts I fly the most are

1) The Realair Duke Twins (Turbo and non Turbo). I love twin engine non Turbos.

2) PMDG 747 (now I am flying the 737 NGX more and more)

3) F1 Mustang for the G1000

4) CS 727. I love this aircraft.
