April 4, 201214 yr Sales and bundle discounts happen all the time all over the place on all kinds of different products. Of course I don't get excited to see something cheaper than what I paid, but that's just the way it is. . .nothing exclusive or special about Flight products. . . +1. It's the same thing with everything else we buy. Houses, cars, bikes, food, video games, toilet paper, etc... Retailers change the prices all the time. I guess some people just like to find ways to feel cheated...
April 4, 201214 yr I also like Flight because it has everyting in one place. I don't feel like installing Steam at all, really... But I do wonder how long it takes for Alaska to become cheaper after its release. Of course the price difference isn't huge considering I am not interested in that fighter plane... Hm, I regret already calling it 'pulling an Orbx'. It was my first reaction after reading about it. It reminded me of what Orbx did last year with their sale after releasing stuff for a full price just before that. 'Pulling an Orbx' immediately came to mind. I guess I should have used other words for it... Can I suggest... "Pulling an 'anything Rich buys'..."
April 4, 201214 yr I suspect that at this pace Flight will outsell all other flight simulations available now in fairly short order. I said in another thread a few days ago that I had a feeling something was about to happen. You can almost feel these things. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically. April 4, 201214 yr Commercial Member I doubt it would be relevent in the short term, but the Steam platform has a really well designed built in method of sharing user created mods, called the Workshop. It debuted with Skyrim, and works amazingly well. Just the idea of Flight evolving into something along those lines where one could browse, download and seamlessly install aircraft and scenery... April 4, 201214 yr Moderator The "bundle pack" available via Steam is their decision, not Microsoft's. What I fail to understand is why even some of the beta testers bothered to uninstall their version only to install the "Steam" version... Fr. April 5, 201214 yr Commercial Member Ugh. This annoys me to no end. No, not the fact that something went on sale after I buy it, but the fact that PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT IT! Why is it so evil to put stuff on sale now? THIS ALWAYS HAPPENS! Sometimes you wait months, sometimes weeks, but the people who wait will always get a better deal. Deal with it! Now due to the massive whining about "I didnt get the sale price" OrbX stopped doing sales! Is that a better outcome? Kevin Miller 3D Artist and developer
April 5, 201214 yr +1 MVGibbage I am beginning to think that some Flight Simmers need to get out of their virtual cockpit for a while and realise that sales happen all the time round the world. Seriously, this year, I have been amazed at the amount of people caught out by companies having a sale, almost as though they have never seen a sale before. There are several things that you can guarantee in life, one of them being that most of time after you bought something, it will become cheaper, through sales, price drops, or a shop selling it for less. One can either wait and hope something comes down in price or buy it when they desire and enjoy the product in the meantime. ~ Martin Smith
April 5, 201214 yr The "bundle pack" available via Steam is their decision, not Microsoft's. What I fail to understand is why even some of the beta testers bothered to uninstall their version only to install the "Steam" version... Convenience, really. I already use Steam for most of my games, why not Flight as well?
April 5, 201214 yr Exactly.. Convenience, really. I already use Steam for most of my games, why not Flight as well? Exactly! I love it when everything I have runs right through Steam. It is a tried and true interface I have used for years. Basically all of my games come through it and it is almost bulletproof. Its clean and lean, therefore I will probably do the same thing. -Danon
