actually a 64bit and 8gb ram, so i don't think it should have happen.

Are you using the d3d9.dll fps limiter? If so, I have found that it causes FSX to not "let go" of VAS when some of it is loaded. As such, your VAS continues to build up, regardless of where you're flying, and you end up with an OOM. I was experiencing these when landing at my arrival airport, no matter how complex or visually simple it was. I now use another limiter and have never had one more OOM.

I get OOM's once in a while... and when it happens, it's always with the NGX and Orbx scenery.... bleh

Run FSX as administrator. Problem solved.

If you don't run it as administrator, the program will not use your 8GB of memory, because OS will limit it, so you will get out of memory messages.

Also, make sure it is RAM and not VRAM, if it's VRAM (videocard's memory, 1GB for you and me) the solution apart from running as admin is to tweak bufferpools in fsx.cfg, I think that if its set to 0 your graphics card's drivers will handle how much VRAM can FSX use (instead of FSX handling it).

Fsx is a 32-bit app, it will never be able to use more than 4gb, period.

:LMAO: :LMAO: (After a long day -- I needed that !! )

For those that don't know, if you have the latest FSUIPC, you will get a windows "ding dong" to let you know you are close to getting an OOM. Give you a chance to save or continue.

If you look at the fsuipc.log.txt, you will see low memory entries once you get near the 4gb limit. A great feature.

I have a registered version, so not sure if it works in the freeware one.

1) FSX leaks memory as it runs

2) AutoGen leaks memory

3) AI traffic leaks memory (car traffic particularly)

4) FSX is a memory hog

Given all the above, you must do what you can to offload anything that runs in the FSX process space. Start by getting rid of AI and AutoGen. Next, try and run as much as possible outside the FSX process space (NOTE: this does NOT mean you must run it on an entirely separate computer over a network - it simply means that FSX must not load e.g. your weather program, or SquawkBox for VATSIM).

Best regards,

Robin.

So how come I have never had an OOM I'm my entire life. Never did on my old system with 4gb, don't on my new system with 6gb.

Add-on issue probably. Scenery.

Over tweaked FSX.CFG more like. :) The only place I get one is PNW, so yesterday I uninstalled it. I can fly all around the globe, but not with Orbx PNW. I can fly into Orbx YBBN which is heavier than most payware airports, and not a problem. Go figure.

Good find... Pete forgot to document that feature, but it should be in the next Doc update.

You can also monitor, and get an ON-SCREEN display of memory usage, with FSUIPC.
