April 18, 201214 yr Just noticed this earlier.....any ideas?? The top picture shows the HUG text partly hidden by that metal thing. The other shot shows the text in front. Cheers Steve Amsden
April 18, 201214 yr That problem is related to FSX and it's the landing light, that causes this. Pic 1, landing light on, Pic 2 landing light off. If you change your point of view you can see, that the whole glare shield covers the HUD-Display. With kind regardsRoland PohlVice chairman FSC e.V.
April 18, 201214 yr Moderator Steve, if you move your eyepoint a little more forward in the VC or set your zoom levels a bit higher so that your closer to the HGS, you can prevent the corners of the display from being blocked out like that. Of course its up to personal preference since some like to use those exteme zoom levels and/or move themselves way back like that so that the whole VS is almost visible making it look like they are flying from the jumpseat, but if you sit more forward the HGS will be closer to your face and will lessen or completely nullify the effect you are seeing. April 18, 201214 yr Author The pictures don't really show the correct seating position. I have zoom at about 0.85 with the display close up. Steve Cheers Steve Amsden

April 20, 201214 yr just move your eyepoint closer to the HGS besides zoom, how do you change your eyepoint? Dave Wegner - Don't be afraid of common sense or the search function.
April 20, 201214 yr besides zoom, how do you change your eyepoint? April 20, 201214 yr Thanks guys! I do have once question though..... Having never been in an NG cockpit, what do you think is the "proper" zoom/position mix? I understand that only screenshots can explain. AND that screenshots do take effort. So if nobody posts one, I'll understand. I just never can tell what is ACTUALLY in the FOV if you were to be sitting in the captain's chair. I usually just zoomed out all the way (I think .30) and went with that (zooming in as needed). But I'd like to have just an accurate viewpoint. Dave Wegner - Don't be afraid of common sense or the search function.
April 20, 201214 yr I think that near 0.80 is quite good. Don't know how realistic though. George Golas ---------------------- I hate gravity!
April 20, 201214 yr According to the PMDG 737 NGX Introduction PDF that is to be found in your documentation folder, IIRC they say to use a zoomfactor of 0.6 or 0.7 for best realism. Mathieu Souphy
April 20, 201214 yr Fabo: I just keep on learning. I never knew that the eyepoint axis could be changed. This will give me something to experiment with, not only with the 737 but other aircraft. KInd regards, Ian McPhail
April 20, 201214 yr While we're talking, is there a full documentation of the HGS symbology available - and where in the manuals supplied with the download can I find the most useful material. It is an awesome simulation when you consider the fantastic functionality of the FMS and the HGS alone. KInd regards, Ian McPhail
