April 26, 201214 yr I feel they should open upto 3PD's if only then to take a cut, or even not to compete with the current/future birds?!? (Just idea!)
April 26, 201214 yr This game has been a sure rollar coaster ride.... -I was apprehensive at first; -Then I tried it, figured "it's free, why not?" and was surprised, "Not too bad, I thought." -Then I got bored, purchased the Maule and Adventure pack, "Okay, the Maule and RV-6 are nice." -Got bored again, waited. -New plane on the horizon, yay! -Waited. -Cockpit-less Zero, Doh! -Waited. -New plane on the horizon, yay! -Cockpit-less P-40, Doh! -still waiting.... Have I lost hope? no, not entirely. Although, the last two months have taken a huge toll on my resolve to stay enthusiastic about Flight's future. -Todd Todd Fleck
April 27, 201214 yr Am I still hopeful? Yes, why wouldn't I be? Unless someone can tell me why I should start to lose hope
April 27, 201214 yr Well since they brought it on themselves to release an aircraft every month, do you expect an aircraft with a highly-detailed fully-functional VC? Every month? NO! (That sounds like heaven, though!) JP1018
April 27, 201214 yr I am losing hope fast. One more cockpitless quick-buck bird and I am done with flight for good.
April 27, 201214 yr I am hopeful. I think Flight is a better platform than FSX. It just bores me atm. I fly mostly in FSX, and the latest tweeks (Sdran Kostic's and *******'s principally) have gotten me to the point that I am happy in FSX and am truly enjoying this hobby. But I see the potential of Flight and have purchased the addons less the cockpitless planes. I think that once MS has tickled the wider market they will provide sufficient encouragement for the hardcore amongst us to be happy with it as well. After all, we may not be as wide as MS's goals but we do run deeper in our outlays for our hobby. As much dough as MS has, they are in business to make more.
April 27, 201214 yr Well since they brought it on themselves to release an aircraft every month, do you expect an aircraft with a highly-detailed fully-functional VC? Every month? NO! (That sounds like heaven, though!) Actually, yes. aircraft with no Vc are not the norm in this community. Even default flyable aircraft all had VCs in the past, so it was an expectation. As for time frame, well it's either really naive to think that MS don't have addons ready to go already for Flight or really poor managment if they don't, especially if they had already planned to be the only provider of addons for Flight. LOL. Best, Michael KDFW
April 27, 201214 yr since Flight already has the option of 'external view' - everyone can fly an aircraft in Flight from that view and not USE the VC....so making every plane WITH a VC makes sense as customers can either fly from the VC or not as is their preference...and everyone is likely to purchase but to release aircraft WITHOUT a VC means that customers who like to fly from that view are not likely to purchase...and that is a LOT of customers NEEDLESLY excluded. sure you can say they will charge less for the no VC plane - but they also make less money in reduced net sales what they did was make a poor decision...unless they plan to retrofit cockpits to the "basic" models at some point
April 27, 201214 yr Well since they brought it on themselves to release an aircraft every month, do you expect an aircraft with a highly-detailed fully-functional VC? Every month? Why, yes. Yes, I do. MS has several options for how such a schedule could be met. However, it would have required better management decisions than those which have been made. I'm not insisting on such a delivery schedule, though. As you noted, that's a schedule MS brought upon themselves. Now it's up to them to start completing their products before shipping them.
April 27, 201214 yr I am hoping they are just building a new code base and know it will take time to build in all the features. I hope they want to sell to people now who don’t know the missing features and slowly train them up as they add the features. This way they get paid while building a new code base and train new players at the same time. I bet they did not completely rewrite the flight simulator software each version. I believe they modified the existing codebase with new features each time. I am just bummed on how cryptic they are on what they ultimately plan to do. I have interviewed and worked at Microsoft in the past. I know that they are quite intense in the interviews. They make sure they hire people that will do the job.
April 27, 201214 yr As long as DLC keeps coming, I'll have hope. I'm not a "low and slow" guy so right now Flight has nothing to offer me, Haven't bought any DLC yet and don't plan to anytime soon. Maybe 3 years from now when there are 12 areas to fly and maybe 12-15 deluxe aircraft (I'm assuming a deluxe aircraft will be delivered with each new scenery), Flight will have what I'm looking for. Until then I have other options which I'm very pleased with. Visually, Flight looks great with the exception of texture blending around cities (I really can't believe the Flight team looked at that and said "Yeah, that's acceptable."), but without airliners, ATC and real world weather, Flight is just a platform for the future, at least for me. Chris
April 27, 201214 yr Author Still I'm hopeful, but I have my thoughts. I suppose that the MSF-'division' is a very small entity in the greater MSCorporation, maybe somehow like 0,0001 %. Imagine: in a staff-meeting a salesmanager ask Bill Gates: people on AVsim ask us to sell and develop luxury yets and helicopters. What do you think? Bill's answer: no way, I need those for myself. Give them the adress of Boeiing and Sikorsky. Crazy people there outside ... So, I'm happy with MSF and I'm happy without MSF.

April 27, 201214 yr Patience is a Virtue, and Virtue is a Grace. Grace is a little girl who didn't wash her face. Unlike many who post, I am not hopeless either.
