April 27, 201214 yr I ordered an iPad and an Apple Airport Express vi the Apple website at the same time, same order. Shipping was billed separately but each item cost within $3 of each other to ship. My iPad came from China via FedEx most likely on an MD-11 or 777, while my Airport Express is coming via UPS, from California... evidentially on horse and cart. Now my iPad arrived today this AM, but my UPS shipped item is still wandering around the countryside somewhere, in the back of a big brown truck... I paid $3 more for the UPS shipping than FedEx... the item shipped via FedEx came from across the pacific... while the UPS shipped item is coming from a few states away... the FedEx shipped item arrived first and cheaper... WTH---Over??!? UPDATE: According to UPS tracking my item just arrived in Hodgkins, IL... still many hundreds of miles from where i live... April 27, 201214 yr Ahhh, the boys in brown strike again! I always use Fedex over UPS given the option, in fact I trust USPS over UPS, and we all know that's a stretch. April 28, 201214 yr Brown is a shipping company with airplanes and purple is an air cargo company with trucks. That's why there is a difference between them. Chris Miller

April 28, 201214 yr Fed Ex are astonishingly efficient; I once ordered some software (on DVD) from the US, and it arrived the next day in the UK, in a Fed Ex box. Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
April 28, 201214 yr I love FedEx, I like UPS, and I hate USPS. In my area, we don't have a lot of USPS offices, so one of them is a combined self-storage and USPS. (Half and half). The staff there is incredibly rude, and it seems like they're doing you a favor by helping you ship stuff. As a matter of fact, just a few months ago, my dad went in that store to ask them a "How many stamps do I need for this package" question, and the first thing the guy said when we walked in the store is "We closed 5 months ago." Then my dad said "Well I just have a small questi..." He said "I don't know anything." Really? That same guy is the same rude person that was there 10 months ago, when I went to ship something there. How come he "suddenly" forgets everything USPS related just because USPS decided to leave the store? (Now it's just a self storage) i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB
April 28, 201214 yr One single question: Did you use the free shipping option, or did you upgrade shipping at all? If it was the free shipping, you have absolutely nothing to rant/complain about. UPS is going to use the most economical method FOR THEM, not you, when you don't pay for any upgraded level of service. If you did upgrade the shipping, then you have a legit issue which you need to take up with Apple/UPS. _________________________________ -Dan Everette CFI, CFII, MEI 7900X OC @ 4.8GHz | ASRock Fatal1ty X299 Professional | 2 x EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 (SLI) | 32GB G.Skill DDR4 2800

April 28, 201214 yr The question is what level of service was that $3? Was it Ground/3day/2day? Also, comparing logistics chains across continents AND companies is comparing apples & oranges. _________________________________ -Dan Everette CFI, CFII, MEI 7900X OC @ 4.8GHz | ASRock Fatal1ty X299 Professional | 2 x EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 (SLI) | 32GB G.Skill DDR4 2800
April 28, 201214 yr Obviously I have my own bias towards my company ( and job security), however....! I'm glad you had a positive experience. But with shipping companies, the times that we make commit time (or even early) are rarely talked about. The time when we are late or dropped the ball (real or perceived) are always noted somewhere. Loudly. Good luck in your future shipping! "I am the Master of the Fist!" -Akuma
April 28, 201214 yr Could you not have bought both items from a local store near where you live??? That way you support your local economy lol.
April 28, 201214 yr Author Their standard shipping is free, I upgraded to express shipping. The cost to ship the iPad via Fedex was $15.25 The cost to ship the Airport Express was $18.00 The iPad arrived from China faster and cheaper than the Airport Express which is coming from California and is still on the UPS truck... April 28, 201214 yr I love FedEx, I like UPS, and I hate USPS. Ok, but I can tell you living in Hawaii, you love USPS. Shipping anything FedEx or UPS is going to cost a min of $40. Incoming, the only thing that isn't expensive is Amazon, and they aren't as good as they once were. You can't beat USPS flat-rate priority box. Too UPS and Fedex will typically "drop and run" while my mailman always will ring the bell and wait for someone. scott s. .
April 28, 201214 yr In my part of the world it is either DHL or Fedex.....We don't have UPS. I don't have a problem with either as they are both very good. DHL is the official sponsor for the All Blacks Rugby Team so I go with them over Fedex. Cheers Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me

OK, understand now.. I do feel for you. That's one of the issues when you use "Express" shipping from a vendor, when "Express" isn't identified. If it was ID'd as "3 day" or similar, then I'd be livid and requesting a refund of the shipping. However, with "Express", it's a coin toss. Either way, trying to compare one item coming from China, the other from California, from different carriers, without a defined delivery timeframe is quite unfair. I would say, 2 items from the same city, and you could compare. However, I've had extremely horrible service with BOTH FedEx AND UPS in the past. Depends on what/where you're shipping. Enjoy the iPad, I love mine... Tracked it from China when they first came out. Figured the UPS 744 into PANC was probably the most expensive aircraft in the world during that flight. :) _________________________________ -Dan Everette CFI, CFII, MEI 7900X OC @ 4.8GHz | ASRock Fatal1ty X299 Professional | 2 x EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 (SLI) | 32GB G.Skill DDR4 2800
