May 23, 201214 yr you could get some longer leads and put your case OUTSIDE.problem solved!! steve-0 That solution sounds fraught with danger but I've also considered it! I was having overheating problems where the PC would restart of it's own accord. I removed the case and used a vacuum cleaner to clean out the vanes on the CPU heatsink (it was caked in dust). Then also cleaned all the fans and PCB's. So far there have been no further overheating problems. Worth a try if you haven't already! Cheers Adam
May 23, 201214 yr Blowing hot air to cool just doesnt work. Seriously I keep my computer room between 69 and 72 yr around, live in the northern climates. I have NZXT which monitors temps and sounds alarms if case temp or ambient temps get too high ArDee
May 23, 201214 yr One other thing to consider is switching over to water cooling, it may be a less expensinve alternative to buying an air conditioning unit....Not to mention the untold side-effect of over clocking :) How does using watercooling lower the room temperature? Computer is still consuming same wattage (if run with same voltages and clocks, of course) and thus generating same amount of heat no matter what cooling you are using. All this energy still transmits to the air in the room. Another funny mistake is, that OP said his computer insides are cool, but room is hot. That simply can't be true unless some phase-change cooling is used. There could be kazillion fans on the rig, and it would still be hotter or near on par with the air in the room :P
May 23, 201214 yr Except for winter, where I often have to keep a window open and never have to turn on the heating in that room, I run an aircraft conditioner at all times. VATSIM: P2 | I1

May 23, 201214 yr Put your Flight Sim computer on the back porch and only fly at night. That would be nice under those prairie skies. Kind of an added level of realism Cheers Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
May 23, 201214 yr Moderator Put your Flight Sim computer on the back porch and only fly at night. That would be nice under those prairie skies. Kind of an added level of realism Cheers Funny you should say that because there have been some of those nights in the spring and fall where the temp is just perfect outside at night and the smell of either the blooming vegetation in the spring or the smell of fire places in the fall makes it so nice to be outside that I have considered putting my flight sim setup on a rolling desk and rolling it outside to fly on my balcony. I have yet to do it, but it would be kind of neat to do your night flights while on your porch or balcony. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
May 24, 201214 yr Yep...That is a problem where you live but not a problem where I live. No bugs when you live near the ocean. Cheers Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
