A quick fly by of Pro ATC

Agreed. I think it is about time someone made a stand and stripped him of all his awards.

That will teach Alan a thing or two!

:LMAO:

Alan I am not being serious by the way althought I don't know if N1G is or not

Well, the clue to my seriousness is in my last sentence i.e. "Where is the Admin" Unless of course you are pulling my leg

So I take it as a joke then. I don't see any moaning here only reporting and I am looking at these updates to help me decide if I am going to buy this product in the future.

Does ProATC work in Co-pilot mode only? I'm interested in the co-pilot reading custom-made check lists if it is possible? Meanwhile they'll be fixing the ATC part.

Thanks,

Dirk.

Here's what the manual states:

"Copilot support

During the whole flight you'll be supported by your virtual copilot. Depending on the options you have set, he's able to setup

the autopilot, gear, flaps, speed brakes, lights as well as the nav-radio and the com-radio. With all copilot options enabled,

there wouldn't be left that much to do for you - ideal for beginners! On the other hand you may setup the otions in a realistic

manner, so that you would have to do yours and the copilot his part, or even so, that you would have to do all the work by

your self - not a really good idea."

There are checklists already made but you can edit and add checklists to whatever you desire.

Best regards,

Jim

Al is an Admin if you had not noticed, thus my mention of Admin. So yes I am kidding.

As far as the program goes, you can jump on the bandwagon and do what we are doing  or wait to see if it changes to

Actually I'm not an admin, various staff members of Avsim, i.e. reviewers, moderators, systems admins etc heve different priveleges and different levels of access to various functions on the forum, and mine are limited to what they need to be, so not too dissimilar to those of non staff members of Avsim in many ways.

There are some forums that I have access to which non staff members do not see when they log in, but I am not an admin, nor moderator, so I cannot warn, suspend or ban people nor delete their posts, although I can do some minor alert stuff.

However, like everyone on Avsim, staff or not, I do occasionally use the 'report' button to alert the moderators to threads when something needs attention. Fortunately, since the admins and moderators do a decent job, I don't have to do so too often though!

So basically, it sounds like you are a spy. You find folks that are suspicious, then do a background check and go from there. Is this correct?

Well, yes. In fact, I could tell you more about it, but then I'd have to kill you and then kill myself. So instead, I'll give the new Pro ATC patch a whirl. :LMAO:

Good one. Yea, I just posted over there about the patch because his directions on using the log file seemed that you would set the option if during flight you had an issue. I had to question what he meant exactly, but then again I do not know how their debug code functions. Also, I dont believe there were any fixes applied, just the debug option.

Which is an excellent update then as it will help to trace/resolve the issues that people are having.

One step closer to a purchase from me. :Drooling:

Hi all,

Get you to complete flights?

I made three flights with this program, and only once I managed to contact the approach!

Do you sometimes this problem?

Thank you.

I've never been able to get an approach out of Pro ATC. It simply does not work for me, either crashing the program or simply not giving me the descent. It clearly needs a lot of work.

I think I'm about the only one who has been taken down to the glideslope and vectored for a landing but it took a lot of patience and perseverance and I doubt the experience was exactly what the developers had in mind for a successful flight. What should have been an hour flight out of KLAX turned out to be over 2 hours as ATC would not respond past my last waypoint before KSFO. I kept 'checking in' and finally got permission to land on R/W 28R using the BigSur STAR. It then started vectoring me all over the skies and, when I entered the STAR and appoach R/W into the 737 FMC, I could see it was trying to vector me back to BSR, my last waypoint so I ignored vectoring and headed straight to BSR. All the way ATC was constantly telling me to turn to another heading. Near BSR, it suddenly directed me to the first waypoint in the BigSur STAR and told me to descend. From then on I was vectored down to the glideslope but the descent was way too late and I had to adjust near the glideslope as I was way too high. Again, not realistic at all. Then, arriving at R/W 28R, I had a Korean 747 crossing the taxiway and stopping in the middle of the Runway. So, was that a successful ProATC-X landing? Me thinks not.

It's hard for me to believe the developers would have released a product without having several successful experiences with ProATC. Perhaps there's something amiss with all of our computer systems. In any case, I hope they find a fix some day soon.

NOTE: About the BigSur STAR.... It wasn't in my PMDG 737 FMC (BSR2 was) for arrivals so I had to open up the Nav log and record all the waypoints of the STAR and enter them manually into the FMC. I have Navigraph but it's weird to me that the program would have picked a STAR that's no longer available according to Navigraph.

Best regards,

Jim
