Sad sad news about our Carbon Cub

Featured Replies

Once my electrical system went...At night,Full moon,in VFR..in a AZTEC,fumbling with a pen light ,i tried to read the Whiskey Glass Compass..Literately my nose was on it....We were in mountains...and my concern was that the Ground Would Come Up And Smyth Me...No Desk Top Thing Here,No Reset Button...no pause for a Fridge break..

I am a real life mountain flyer. It's all mountains around here. Since my first Garmin moving map in 1993, I've become a believer in better ways to do things. It was all VOR and higher altitudes for reception, before GPS. Just compare synthetic vision to that "whiskey glass compass", and you'll have to agree..

Actually, no, it is not.

MICROSOFT defined "Basic Plane" as having no cockpit. That is NOT a designation we came up with.

I have not seen that definition, where is that stated?

I very rarely experience problems with FSX, and when I do, it is my own fault (too much addons installed). FSX itself rarely causes problems when you have a decent PC. It's mostly caused by the addons.

There is plenty of information about basic aircraft on the Flight website.

Where??? link.......

So when I look at the FSX Forum, as I do periodically and I see threads about this crashing, and weird problems like blocks in the sky , flashing runways, out of memory, as I did this morning, then I must be reading about problems that people are just imagining. Or how about an entire forum devoted to "crashes to desktop"? Same goes for FS9 forum devoted to software that is almost a decade old and still problematic.

If it pleasures you to find company in Misery to comfort you why go ahead..Have Fun.Suggest you review the Talk right here on this site!...Why its World Wide..They did not get here with faulty stuff!..DO IT???..It seems there are others with serous concerns, only to find out Simming is EXPENSIVE,,and you need the up to date Computers...LIKE MAN YA NEED THE RIGHT STUFF.....Some have it most do not...So Please ..let it go..As Far As FS9,that's the world of Ed Lyons and all his wonderful stuff, A Work of Art!As far as FSX? Look at the descriptions of the aircraft offerings in the marketplace. I don't know if the description still says "basic" for cockpitless a/c or not but it used to. That's where the term basic aircraft comes from, directly from MSG. Using their own terminology, we can only deduce that the carbon cub will be without a vc.

As for any other planes being included with the new Alaska pack, that's something we'll have to wait to see.

Thank you.

I would not fly the cub anyway but I am fairly optomistic that some new and exciting planes are on the way.

Why ? " While exploring over 600,000 square miles of new scenery, 565 airports and 137 seaplane bases "

That to me, says it all.

I have not found one mention of basic except on the description of the cub, but I only started looking at Flight a couple of weeks ago. . All other references are to "planes without cockpits", and there is no tie in to "basic" that I can currently find.

Got to be a Beaver with all that water in Alaska to land on. I flew a C-182 with a float kit while I was there a few years ago, and it was a blast to take off from Lake Hood, fly out over the Tundra about 20 miles, and pick one of those small lakes and just land and look around. A million emergency fields, with a pair of floats. The photo is on landing approach to Lake Hood in the 182, and off to the left is Anchorage Intl.

You can sort airplanes in the marketplace. One sort is basic, and that's all the planes without pit. Why did they even bother with support for Track-IR...

Where is that link, I can't locate that either? Here is all I could find on marketplace.

Wow! I just read the announcement from MS and didn't get the same message most other people here did. I read that Alaska was coming with lots of scenery and airports and would be bundled with one new non-VC plane as part of the package.

After reading this forum, however, I now know that message actually read "Microsoft has decided to screw ALL of its customers by NEVER showing a cockpit in ANY airplane EVER AGAIN!!!121111!! And we are thinking about taking away the cockpits from the aircraft you already have because we know it would drive you nuts! So suck it up and give us your money!"

Did you really think there would never be another plane without a cockpit anywhere in the game?

Just how do all of you know there are no deluxe aircraft coming as DLC along with the release of Alaska or soon after? Is there a message I missed?

There are only 4 aircraft listed there under Basic and nothing else. It appears that all that is listed are aircraft that I have not purchased, since the Maule is not listed, or any of the other stock aircraft. This still does not define basic as having no cockpit, since none of the planes listed have cockpits.

Hey that would be cool, flying at 19,000 feet , and all of a sudden your cockpit disappears. Like those old road runner cartoons...... :Nerd:

The Super Cub.is a very desirable plane in ALASKA...All Planes,of a utility Nature are the Life Blood Of ALASKA.......With out Bush Pilots, and their huge variety planes, truly Alaska would be more difficult,or impossible to sustain Human life.in remote places!

SOO! We Will Have FLIGHT,and with it we know great Scenery, a land of Vast distances between places. From Barrow,to the Aleutians!..It will provide we ,desk top pilots to explore Magnificent Alaska,as we did with HAWAII......The MAULE for Hawaii was OK!,.And is fine for ALASKA!The Stearman for rides, and airshows was fun,and can be in ALASKA!...But transporting EVERYTHING to sustain life in Alaska??? A Ultra Light will not do it..Lets get Real,...Rather those at MS should get real....Sim or Game, the Planes required must be available..and Planes in ALASKA are off every type, class, and utility.......This Carbon Cub would be like a Canoe in the middle of the Pacific ocean!........HAVE FUN! And Remember ,The BEST is Yet To Come!

THE VENERABLE PIPER J-3 CUB!..Older than most all here today!!
