Thanks for all the responses. Maybe London to Sydney was a little ambitious so how about New York to London, New York to LA or LA to Hawaii?

PMDG MD-11 is perfect for these.

PS: The last two are not so "long". They can be easily made with a 737-800. And even the first, could be made with an 737-700.

As much as I love Concorde I gotta recommend the MD-11. PMDG's rendition is excellent. The graphics are still good, systems are of high fidelity and the FDE feels convincingly real. For me its the best long hauler in FSX.

Alrighty, so it lots of votes for the MD11, at least until the 777 is released. I'll give it a look.

Thanks for the input :)

Let us know how you like her. Me says that's a sure shot.

Yeah, give the MD-11 a look and tell us what you think. I personally love flying her. She is a truly interesting plane to fly because everything works a little different than what you are accustomed too, plus it's a very immersive simulation. Even if you don't like her from day one, give ehr some time. You'll like her in the end!

I could never get into the strange way the MD-11 works. The 747 is easy to learn if you know Boeing and still has a high quality cockpit with the typical system fidelity you would expect from PMDG

I guess she acts as a 'as long as there is no decent Airbus' way for some. He%20He.gif Just kidding.

Well, I like her and the different ways of operation or the higher automation level included. At the (genuine) Boeing planes, I sometimes feel like 'if you know one, you know them all'. Personal preference for sure and partially based on the sheer amount of Boeing planes being available in the sim.

I'm also flying the few Embraers for example and if a decent CRJ arrives, I'll be in.

Haven't flown the MD-11 for quite some time now spending most of my time in the NGX these days but like many others already said the MD-11 is a great aircraft!

Speaking about the MD-11 I can also highly recommend a cockpit DVD featuring Martinair, a very nice movie where you'll learn lots of stuff while enjoying the movie at the same time

Good tip! I own that Martinair DVD too. ITVV that is, right? They also sell the great Concorde DVD. As you say, it's very helpful and fun to watch. Well, the gf didn't like it that much though. ^_^

It isn't extremely cheap, but well worth the money in both cases.

Yeah, the ITVV MD-11 DVD is excellent, it is infact my second favorite aviation DVD, after the ITVV Concorde DVD (I got a lot of aviation DVDs, ITVV are the best ones by far imo, much better than justplanes / world air routes)

I too like the ITVV productions over other ones, just wishing there were more ITVV movies to choose from.

Currently this -> :yahoo: is how happy I would be if ITVV produced a new 737NG movie featuring the Swedish division of SAS based at ESSA in the real SAS LN-RRH for example. She's flying to lots of interesting destinations passing gorgeous sceneries and especially this time of the year so that would make for some really nice movies I'm sure!

As for GFs I think it's quite common they are hard to please with in-flight DVDs so don't despair

I own both the ITVV Martinair video and the Just Planes Swiss MD11 video.

Gotta say the Swiss one is quite good, the captain takes you to the avionics bay and explains some of the gear in there.

I like the PMDG MD11 for long range flights, because it has the best systems and textures after the NGX.

The NGX has spoiled me in the texture department. I wont set foot in the Queen,(sorry PMDG :P )
